It’s a wine that punches way above its weight class. Blind, you’re thinking about cuvees that sell for 2-3 times the price. It has all the florality and elegance of top-notch Puligny.

The Morey comes from three lieux dits, Crais Gillon, Corvées, and Le Village.

The Chambolle vines are in Derriére la Four (75 years), Les Herbués, and Les Chardannes.

The Jouans regard their Clos Sorbé, much as Rousseau regards his Clos St. Jacques-virtually on a par with Grand Cru; the vines are 80 years old; tiny production.

Love this wine! Sourced from 35-40 year-old Chenin Blanc vines on clay and limstomne soils. A wilder spin on a Vouvray Tendre if you will, with just a smidge of residual sugar to carry flavor.  Bust out the khao soi and have at it!

97 Points! The 2023 Châteauneuf-du-Pape from Domaine du Banneret is superb, wafting from the glass with a perfumed bouquet of peonies, wildflowers, dark cherries, red berries and garrigue. Medium- to full-bodied, suave and seamless, it’s layered and textural, with a delicate, juicy core of fruit framed by velvety tannins and concluding with an expansive, lingering finish. This is arguably one of the finest wines ever produced at this address—and without contest, one of the wines of the vintage. Disgorged in December 2024 with a dosage of one gram per liter, Dehours’s NV Brut Grande Réserve is built on the 2022 vintage and bolstered by 40% to 50% reserve wines from a perpetual cuvée initiated in 1998, it opens with expressive aromas of pear, peach, orange zest and honeysuckle. 94 Points! The 2022 Château Haut-Brisson is impressive, with the vintage’s sun-kissed style, while staying more medium to full-bodied, pure, and elegant. Ripe black cherries, currants, crushed stone, and pressed flower notes all shine here, and I love its overall balance and finesse.
