The 2022 L'Hetre is 95% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc that's from more limestone soils, with the élevage in 30% new French oak, with the balance in once-used barrels. Gorgeous black raspberries, black truffle, tobacco, and damp earth are just some of the nuances, and it's medium to full-bodied on the palate, with a concentrated, layered mouthfeel, ripe, chalky tannins, and a great finish.

Decanter finds chocolate, mint, blackcurrant and dried herbs leading into a smooth, supple palate with a juicy core and refreshing acidity. Salinity and spice add seriousness to the finish, while the fruit remains pure and the tannins beautifully integrated. They call it an “easy-to-enjoy beauty.”

Galloni describes the 2022 as expressive, bold and punchy, with crushed flowers, mint, blood orange, sage and white pepper. What impresses him most is the wine's energy and vibrancy, with clean mineral notes driving the taut, mouthwatering finish.

92 Points! Vibrant and harmonious, the 2024 Cotes du Rhone Lieu Dit Clavin Blanc opens with aromas of jasmine, white fruits, spices and herbs. Medium- to full-bodied, juicy and enveloping, it remains fresh and lively throughout, concluding with a long, ethereal finish. The classic 2023 Châteauneuf Du Pape Tradition (95% Grenache and 5% Syrah) from Jean-Marie Royer reveals a vivid ruby hue as well as a beautiful nose of fresh raspberries, spring flowers, and Provençal spices. Disgorged in December 2024 with a dosage of one gram per liter, Dehours’s NV Brut Grande Réserve is built on the 2022 vintage and bolstered by 40% to 50% reserve wines from a perpetual cuvée initiated in 1998, it opens with expressive aromas of pear, peach, orange zest and honeysuckle. 91 Points! Part of the empire of the Chateau Mouton Rothschild, this estate was once known as Mouton Baronne Philippe. This impressive, deep, opaque ruby/purple wine, with loads of charcoal, crème de cassis and a flowery-ness, this is rich, medium to full-bodied, beautifully textured, quite pure, and avoids any of the astringency or hollowness that some Médocs possess in this vintage. The wine is complete and finishes authoritatively. The tannins are there, but ripe, integrated and velvety. The NV Brut Réserve is the foundational wine at Bérêche, and the latest release is based on the 2022 vintage, incorporating a 40% perpetual reserve component, uniting the freshness of the northern slopes and the maturity of the hot, dry vintage. Fruit for this wine comes from vineyard sites across the Montagne de Reims and the Vallée de Marne, and the Champagne was disgorged in October 2024 with six grams per liter dosage. Bursting from the glass with aromas of nectarine, orange zest and brioche, it's medium- to full-bodied and ample, with considerable density, underpinned by racy acidity and concluding with a chalky finish. The Brut Réserve has seen the most refinements in recent years as it no longer incorporates tailles and now features Chardonnay from Trépail; technically, this means that the pH is lower and the acidity is higher.
