Inspired by French brandy distillers, this 5-year bourbon is finished in a selection of cognac puncheons delivering balance and richness to our bourbon. Doc’s Blender hand-selected the whiskeys from each puncheon and skillfully blended them for this limited release and aptly named it L’ESPRIT — French for “the spirit.” L’ESPRIT is one of three limited bourbons that complete the Mind, Body, and Spirit line, named for their contributions to the Doc Swinson’s Alter Ego Triple Cask Bourbon.

This limited single finish expression allows you the chance to experience one of the individual pieces of the whole, all outstanding on their own at cask strength.

Weighty Rye Meets Jamaican Funk Flavor

Funky Drummer is Doc Swinson’s blend of two five-year rye whiskeys that have had a long break in some seriously funky Jamaican rum casks (look up dunder pits if you want some fun info!). These casks are full of tropical fruit flavors that marry nicely with the heavy rye spice. It took some serious time locked away to get these flavors to play nicely together, but when they did... woah, ain’t it funky! Grab a bottle and bring on the juice!

INSPIRED BY THE OLD-WORLD TECHNIQUES OF SCOTTISH AND IRISH WHISK(E)Y DISTILLERS WHERE MUCH OF THE MAGIC LIES WITH THE ART OF BLENDING.

We borrowed and twisted many of these techniques to produce Doc’s Alter Ego Bourbon. Our goal was to take good whiskies, blend them together and see how we could enhance these blends as well as maintain the flavor of the whiskey itself. After years of finishing whiskies in a variety of casks, we believe we have struck success using Olorosso Sherry, Pedro Ximenez Sherry, and Cognac casks from a number of curated producers.

Whether accentuating or layering in characteristics, we believe these techniques enhance the spirit and still focuses on the bourbon. These casks allow the delicate characteristics of past occupants to mingle and marry with the smooth yet bold aspects of Doc’s Straight Bourbons. Each release is then meticulously blended and married in ex-Cognac Foeders prior to bottling. Our finishing and blending techniques impart a dry nuttiness, subtle sweetness, and an extended finish to an already great whiskey, while still allowing the bourbon to shine.

PALATE: Silky, spicy, dry but smooth

Xi Feng Jiu has a long history dating back more than 2,200 years ago to the Qin Dynasty, and the “Qin drink,” was the first generation of Xi Feng Jiu. According to legend, Fengxiang, the town in Shaanxi province, was where the ‘phoenixes took flight’- the root of the name Xi Feng Jiu: ‘Western Phoenix Spirit’. In 1994, because of the unique styles and features, brewing process, and unique geographical environment of Xi Feng Jiu, Chinese state-level authority’s determined “Feng Xiang” aroma baijiu by using Xi Feng Jiu as a reference. Since then, Shaanxi Xifeng Liquor Group Co., Ltd. has become the benchmark of the national standard for Feng-aroma baijiu.

The Moutai Group proudly introduces Moutai Bu Lao Jiu. So named Bu Lao Jiu to refer to  eternal youth, this new expression is made from Moutai’s signature blend before being infused with traditional Chinese herbs. Some key herbs including Angelica Dahurica, Dried Longan Berry, Wolfberries, and Hawthorn blend harmoniously with Baijiu. With a fresh blend, Moutai Bu Lao Jiu has the elixir of youth while retaining the same great flavor and prestige of classic Kweichow Moutai.

Finely selected from the region of Luzhou, Sichuan Province, the red glutinous sorghum is fermented in the historical fermentation pits and blended to perfection. Before release, it is bottled in an exquisite Chinese clay bottle. Owing to the fact that the clay bottle is porous, the baijiu kept in the bottle can actually ‘breathe’. It is therefore rightly claimed as a ‘living baijiu’. With red glutinous sorghum grown specifically in Luzhou, Sichuan province as the ingredient, Luzhou Laojiao · Antique Edition (Zisha Daqu Baijiu) is brewed from old fermentation pits with hundreds of years of history. It was then bottled in a clay bottle after exquisite blending by our baijiu master. Tasting Notes: An aroma of toasted sesame oil and fermented soy. A rich and umami body with notes of nuts, dark chocolate, and sour cherry. White pepper on the finish.

China - San Ren Xuan was conceptualized to celebrate friendship. The slightly updated product simultaneously captured the classical mystique of the floral aroma that strong aroma baijiu drinkers love while offering a much lighter and refreshing modern quality.

Kujira Ryukyu Whisky 10 years was distilled from 100% premium Indica rice, and matured in White Oak Virgin casks for more than 10 years. Masahiro Distillery was founded in 1883, its history could trace back to Ryukyu Kingdom era. Masahiro Distillery is known for its production techniques, prominent qualities, and passion for innovation.

The story within this bottle begins 500 years ago, along the shores of Okinawa’s iconic Ryukyu islands, where indica rice was fermented into the beloved native indulgence of awamori. The Hayashi 8 Year grows these same roots in new, revitalized soil. A single grain whisky aged eight years in bourbon casks is enriched by island air to a masterful oak and caramel complexity, flourished with tropical flavors unique only to the Hayashi name.
