98 Points! The 2018 La Conseillante is composed of 83% Merlot and 17% Cabernet Franc, with a 3.65 pH and 14% alcohol. Deep garnet-purple colored, it needs a lot of swirling and coaxing to lure out the youthfully shy, incredible perfume of black raspberries, boysenberries, ripe plums and cinnamon toast, leading to notions of lilacs, clove oil and forest floor, plus a waft of iron ore. The medium to full-bodied palate is a jaw-dropping exercise in finesse, slowly unfurling in the mouth to reveal layer upon layer of bright, crunchy red and black fruits, supported by a rock-solid frame of firm, fine-grained tannins and tons of freshness, finishing long and with an impressive mineral and exotic spice firework display. It's an incredible expression of Pomerol that cannot fail to inspire a resounding 'WOW' from whoever is fortunate to drink it. The village designated Les Cras vineyard site sits just below the 1er Cru of the same name. Superbly situated, the soils are a mix of iron rich clay and limestone rock. Grapes are hand-harvested and then carried in small wooden boxes to the cellar, where they are sorted. Fermentation takes place for 15 days in open wooden vats at a controlled temperature, with punching down. We cracked a bottle of this one last night and it is an absolute star...loving these 2018's!

From Chateau Margaux: The production of Pavillon Blanc is a centuries-old tradition at Château Margaux, which has been producing white wine since the early 18th century. Over the years, we have become increasingly selective in our pursuit of excellence, conducting extensive analysis and understanding of our various white soil types. This rigorous selection process, coupled with careful vineyard work, allows us to harvest each plot at its optimal maturity, adjusting vinification and aging to the different grapes produced. This meticulous effort has not only enhanced the quality of Pavillon Blanc du Château Margaux but has also led to the production of a second wine of such high quality that it will be bottled starting from the 2022 vintage. Composed entirely of Sauvignon Blanc and sourced from historic estate vines, the Pavillon Blanc Second Vin can be enjoyed in its youth and will gracefully age for at least two decades.

The Capuano-Ferreri Santenay Blanc Vieilles Vignes 2021 is a white wine with a bright, clear, and brilliant appearance. It offers a complex aromatic profile, featuring notes of white and yellow fruits, floral hints, and subtle toasted or smoky minerality. On the palate, expect a creamy vanilla and oak character, along with a touch of lemon and herbaceous notes. The wine is known for its balance, featuring a mineral backbone and a medium body with medium acidity. 

94+ Points! This property is owned and managed by the Vauthier family of Château Ausone. The 2015 Moulin Saint-Georges is blended of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc, aged for 18 months in French oak barrels, 85% new. Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, it reveals a gorgeous plum preserves, licorice and blackberry pie-laced nose with touches of cedar chest, cigar box, black olives and forest floor. Medium to full-bodied, concentrated and very firmly textured with grainy tannins, it has a lively backbone supporting the generous black fruit, finishing with lingering savory notes. La Salle de Poujeaux, the estate’s second wine, is crafted with an audacious blend that combines the freshness of vibrant fruit with the richness of ripe berry character. Soft tannins make it approachable and seductive from a young age.

The 2016 La Salle de Poujeaux Moulis captures the finesse and classic structure of the vintage with impressive clarity. Deep ruby in the glass, it opens with a fragrant nose of ripe blackcurrants, crushed raspberries, and violets, layered with subtle notes of graphite, cedar, and dried herbs.

On the palate, the wine is supple and medium-bodied, with polished tannins and a fresh, vibrant core of red and black fruit. Merlot provides generous mid-palate richness and roundness, while the Cabernet Sauvignon adds lift, structure, and a persistent mineral edge. Hints of tobacco, dark chocolate, and baking spice unfold with aeration, leading to a long, savory finish.

This cuvée comes from the 2nd harvest of riper fruit selected at the end of September from their 10 acre estate. The riper grapes are harvested then vininfied in a dry, yet ample style. The sandstone terroir brings a density to the wine whilst preserving tension. 

96 Points! A deep, quite herbal expression, with liquorice and crushed blueberries to the cassis fruit. Full-bodied, powerfully fruited, dense and deep. Really mouthcoating, intense fruit. The tannins are ripe, fine and plentiful, all saturated in blackberry juice on a long finish. Certainly one of the more successful Châteauneufs this year. Will age well. A Mourvèdre-led expression of Beaucastel - it contains more than usual, at least 35% and probably more. Grenache and Cinsault fermented in cement, Syrah and Mourvèdre fermented in foudre. - Decanter Magazine

A fabulous wine, and one of the two greatest Talbots of the last 50 years, this wine still has a very murky garnet/plum/purple color and a spectacular nose of sweet creme de cassis intermixed with freshly ground pepper, melted road tar, herbes de Provence, and beef blood. It is followed by an enormously concentrated wine of full body, layers of concentration and sweet tannin. The wine seems to be just hitting its plateau of maturity, where it should last for at least 10-15 more years. A prodigious Talbot. Anticipated maturity: Now-2020. 94 Points! The 2004 Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande is showing beautifully, wafting from the glass with aromas of rich dark berry fruit, cigar wrapper and loamy soil. Medium to full-bodied, fleshy and enveloping, with velvety tannins and a seamless, charming profile, it is really beginning to drink with some style. 94 Points! A real sleeper effort from the Perse family, the 2004 Pavie has a dense, bluish purple color and a wonderful, sweet kiss of blackberry, licorice, spice box and roasted herbs. The wine is rich, deep, full-bodied and absolutely remarkable for the vintage. This is certainly a candidate for one of the wines of the year and seems still relatively youthful and promising. 95 Points! This is a beauty, with the singed apple wood and juniper notes fully melded with the core of lush raspberry and blackberry confiture flavors. The edges are rounded off but the spine still drives through. Ends with graphite and ganache accents and a mouthwatering hint. - Wine Spectator

A great showing for this wine in the mini-vertical, the 2001 Pavie has a slight lightening at the edge of its dark garnet/plum/purple color and a big, sweet kiss of cedar wood, incense, licorice, blackberry and lead pencil shavings. The wine is dense, very rich, multilayered and finishes with at least a 40- to 45-second aftertaste. 92 Points! This wine has a very youthful color and seems to be close to full maturity, without the density of the 1998, or its successor, the perfect 2000. It has abundant foresty notes, plenty of spice box, blackcurrant and black cherry fruit, some background toasty oak, medium to full body and sweet tannin.
