    JS91
    WA90
    $21.98
    Availability:In Stock

90 Points! The village red 2019 El Reflejo was produced with Bobal grapes from 15 separate plots in the process of being certified organic in Casas de Benítez and Pozoamargo close to the Júcar River, all within five kilometers of each other on limestone soils. In 2019, they harvested earlier, looking for more freshness, and with slightly higher yields guided from the pruning. They used 50% full clusters in the fermentation in 3,300-liter stainless steel vats that was quite soft, with a total time of 21 days. The wine matured in a combination of tinajas, concrete vats and 225- and 500-liter oak barrels for a total of 14 months. It's floral and perfumed, quite showy, open an expressive with a medium-bodied palate, focused flavors and fine tannins. - Luis Gutierrez, robertparker.com

  5. Durigutti Malbec Pie De Monte Gualtallary Finca Las Jarillas 2020
    DEC97
    Availability:Out of Stock

97 Points, Best In Show! Cool temperatures, high altitudes, steep slopes and with limestone soils in certain parts, Gualtallery is a new Southern Hemisphere superstar zone, so it was thrilling to find an arresting Gualtallery Malbec amongst our Best in Show contenders for the second year running. The wine is dark black-purple in colour, with a dense weave of aroma which probably needs a year or two more to resolve itself and show at its best: look out for meat, bacon and leather amongst the gathered black fruits. It’s very deep and very pure, by contrast, on the palate: laser-focussed black-plum and sloe fruits with classic Malbec rose petal and tea-leaf overtones. This perfumed purity alone is remarkable testimony to the potential of the terroir. Add the fine-textured tannins, fruit-drenched acidity and sense of stony finesse engraved in the wine and its lingering finish and you’ll see that something remarkable is coming to light here. - Decanter World Wine Awards

96 Points! On the nose, this reminds me of lemon curd, but it’s fresher than any lemon curd I have encountered. Then the beauty unfurls on the sensationally elegant, finely etched palate. What a breathtakingly long, fresh-herb finish this has, and how that drags you back to the beginning to undertake this wonderful journey again. From biodynamically grown grapes with Respekt certification. Drink or hold. Screw cap. - JamesSuckling.com

  7. Philipp Brundlmayer Grüner Veltliner Liter 2022
    $13.98
    Availability:In Stock

Joseph and Philipp Brundlmayer are passionate not only about winemaking but also their family history, one that is intimately connected with spectacular vineyard sites that they work entirely by hand. In the 1980s Joseph turned a passion for winemaking into a full time profession, taking the grapes that were normally sent to co-op and teaching himself how to make wine, but even more importantly adding vineyard sites. Not just any vineyard sites, the ones no one wanted to work since they were too hard, too high, too terraced. In short, many of the best sites of the Kremstal. It was when his son Philipp joined him in winemaking in 2015 that things really took off, innovations in winemaking, labeling and attention to low intervention vineyard management. Everything is done by hand, cover crops are used to their fullest and no attention to detail is spared in the health of their 100 different vineyard plots or in the meticulous cellar.

  8. Catena Zapata Malbec Mendoza Adrianna Vineyard Fortuna Terrae 2020
    JS98
    WA98
    $124.98
    Availability:Out of Stock

98 Points! The 2020 Adrianna Vineyard Fortuna Terrae shows exceptionally well. It's still young and juicy with some baby fat that should get rendered with some more time in bottle. It's a little lighter, and the tannins gave it grip and a chalky limestone sensation. But the wine is very expressive, with purity, clean and precise and not showing any signs of coming from a warmer year like 2020. It finishes with the telltale violets from the great Malbec grape coated by chalky minerality. This plot behaves well in warmer years like this one. It was bottled in October 2021. - Luis Gutierrez, robertparker.com

98 Points! Blackberries, dark plums, dried earth, tar, paprika, lavender and bark on the nose. Medium-bodied, dark fruited and cool with very fine, velvety tannins. So supple, youthful and perfumed with lovely purity of fruit. Long, silky finish. Try in 2025. - JamesSuckling.com

  10. Zuccardi Malbec Paraje Altamira Valle de Uco Concreto 2021
    JS95
    WA95+
    VM95
    $29.98
    Availability:In Stock

95+ Points! The 2021 Concreto Malbec has to be one of the finest vintages of this wine despite its youth and still shy personality. But there are tons of flowers, wild herbs and berries there waiting to emerge in an insinuating way, with austerity but unfurling layers and layers as the wine sits in the glass. It's incredibly fine-boned with chalky tannins that scream limestone, full of precision and purity. For Sebastián Zuccardi, they didn't do anything different, it's just the character of the year. This is the wine that explains their philosophy without breaking your piggy bank. It is delicious, serious, approachable and with aging potential. What else do you want? I have sometimes confused this wine blind with one of their top bottlings. This is one of the best values around. - Luis Gutierrez, robertparker.com

95 Points! Such a brooding nose with black pepper, violet and fresh blueberry and blackberry fruit. Spicy and tight on the palate, but super polished, racy and refined. Medium-to full-bodied red with beautiful tannin tension and expressive, floral notes in the finish. Exemplary and authentic! So delicious now. Why wait? - JamesSuckling.com

95 Points! The 2021 Malbec Concreto from Paraje Altamira, Uco Valley was aged in concrete. Purple in the glass. It has a crisp, expressive nose of fresh plum, sour cherry and hints of blackberry, herbs, violets and lavender. Free-flowing but relaxed in the mouth, the palate leaves behind a mixture of chalk and juicy freshness before the sustained, pure fruit finish. The year suited this style perfectly. - Joaquin Hidalgo, Vinous Media

  11. Zuccardi Malbec Serie A 2022
    WA92
    $12.98
    Availability:In Stock

92 Points! The varietal Serie A range includes wines from the "Argentinean" varieties, and the star of this range is, of course, the 2022 Serie A Malbec. Here they search for typicity from Valle de Uco, with freshness and flowers, red rather than black fruit, nice tannic structure and purity; they are not looking for complexity or limestone but varietal character, at which this excels. This has juiciness and structure and is fine-boned. It is very different from the Bonarda in this range. - Luis Gutierrez, robertparker.com
