93 Points! The 2021 Petite Sirah Thompson Vineyard is a perennial winner. Coming all from the Thompson Vineyard in the Alisos Canyon region of Santa Barbara County and brought up in 18% new American oak, its deep purple hue is followed by a beautiful array of red, black, and blue fruits interwoven with cedarwood, flowery incense, and peppery herbs. It's rich and full-bodied, with beautiful fruit and fine tannins. This is one incredibly classy Petite Sirah that has plenty of up-front appeal yet, I suspect, the balance and structure to evolve for well over a decade. - Jeb Dunnuck

Hey, we are as picky about Oregon Pinot Blanc as we are about everything else. Yes, it is crisp, bright, and fresh, as they are expected to be. The surprise here was that there was fruit (apple, pear, citrus), texture, and some character as well. It is a small thing that makes a huge difference within the category. It's not a genre that typically moves us. Suffice it to say it's a big deal for us to actually talk about it. Can't remember the last time that happened. This one should make some friends.  As a bonus, it's also priced as an everyday go-to ($16.98).

93 Points! This cuvée always delivers, and the 2020 Petite Sirah Thompson Vineyard is no exception, with tons of smoky black fruits and chocolate notes, full-bodied richness, a round, lush, powerful texture, and a great finish. From the importer: Grown on rare limestone soil with heavy topsoil of loam and clay. The vines are 15 to 39 years old and do grow low yields around 45 to 65 hl per hectare. It is a curious fact, that most of the wines are located on today’s french side of the border but we are still allowed to produce german wine there as the family owns the vineyards for many generations already.

The grapes were hand harvested and destemmed. Before pressing, the grapes were macerating for 12 to 24 hours days to extract all the flavors and aromas from the grape-skins into the juice. The lightly pink-hued juice was fermented in stainless steel tanks and 2400 liter oak-barrels and afterwards let on lees for almost 5 months after fermentation to gain even more flavor and complexity through the lees-contact.

93 Points! The 2019 Petite Sirah Palisades Vineyard is laced with the essence of crème de cassis, blueberry, spice, leather and licorice. The tannins are especially suave for this Calistoga site, where the wines have often been bigger. A cool end to the season and long macerations probably explain most of the wine's personality. The 2019 spent about two weeks on the skins following the alcoholic fermentation and was aged partly in larger format 600L barrels, again, with the goal of reducing the impact of tannins from oak. - Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media
