93+ Points! The 2019 Pinotage has an oak-driven nose with spiced plum compote, black cherries, a floral essence and a kiss of volatility. Medium to full-bodied, the wine is generous on the palate and offers a sweet frame of oak with vanilla and spiced cherries before offering juicy yet rustic tannins across the mid-palate. From vines up to 60 or more years old on slatey, calcareous, sandy and gravelly gneiss soils, the 2017 Blaufränkisch Sankt Margarethen is concentrated, refined and bloody on the pure fresh and elegant, terroir-driven nose that displays dark and concentrated black berry aromas with chocolate notes and an almost Port-like concentration. Very elegant and sweet on the concentrated but refreshing mineral and finessed palate, this is a great effort with tension, finesse, stimulating salts and a crystalline and chalky freshness. The wine is rich but highly refined and persistently salty-mineral. Hannes Schuster's 2017 Sankt Margarethen is most probably one of the greatest Blaufränkisch wines I have tasted in more than 20 years. - Stephan Reinhardt, robertparker.com
