  1. Faustino Rioja Gran Faustino I Gran Reserva 2004
    WE96
    JS95
    $84.98
    Availability:In Stock

95 Points! An extremely well-aged and understated Rioja, showing discreet complexity with plums, oranges, leather, dusty red berries and minerals. Juicy and bright on the palate with a zesty nature to the berry and orange citrus. Silky, taut tannins and a long yet elegant finish. Lots of finesse here, with almost pinot etherealness. Tempranillo, graciano and mazuelo from selected plots. 36 months aging, with American oak in use, too. Drinkable now, but can hold for another 10 years. - JamesSuckling.com

  2. Pingus Ribera del Duero Psi 2021
    JS94
    WA93-95
    VM96
    $29.98
    Availability:Out of Stock

96 Points! The 2021 PSI is 90% Tempranillo and 10% Garnacha sourced from old vines planted in calcareous soils and was aged for up to 16 months in mostly sizeable French oak barrels. In the glass, it's garnet-red with a light purple sheen. The nose offers blood notes along with sour cherry and blackberry, intertwined with violets and dried flowers, resulting in a layered, complex profile. On the palate, it's dry and velvety. Chalky tannins define a compact mouthfeel and long-lasting fruit and floral flavors. The 2021 is a distinctive Ribera del Duero with excellent nuance and agility. - Joaquin Hidalgo, Vinous Media

  4. CUNE Rioja Real de Asúa Carromaza 2019
    DEC95
    JS97
    WA96
    JA96
    $79.98
    Availability:In Stock

96 Points! The modern 2019 Real de Asúa has been produced since 2018 with grapes from a paraje in the village of Villalba called Carromaza (now mentioned on the label) on sandy, south-facing soils that were harvested between the 8th and 9th of October. 2019 was a low-yielding year with loose and small bunches that ripened thoroughly delivering wines that are balanced and have aging potential. It's 14.5% alcohol and has mellow acidity and good freshness and balance. It fermented in small oak vats with indigenous yeasts followed by malolactic in new French oak barrels and then matured in new and second use French barriques for 12 months. The wine is very impressive, showy, clean and harmonious, without any noticeable oak, juicy, harmonious, young, fresh and elegant. It has concentration, power and finesse. It has a new label and bottle and a much more modern image but with the essence form the past. The wine has improved a lot, and it has grip and very fine tannins. Very impressive. It has the naked essence of Rioja without the layers and layers of oak, now from a single vineyard where they want freshness and a lush but floral and delicate profile you have to drink effortlessly. Superb. - Luis Gutierrez, robertparker.com

97 Points! A full-bodied, ripe and delicious red with firm, lightly chewy tannins. Lots of cherries, dried flowers, coconut and rosemary. Lavender and white roses, too. Firm and very well structured. Tight and fresh at the end. First year with single vineyard on the label. 100% tempranillo. Try this after 2025. - JamesSuckling.com

  5. Muga Rioja Gran Reserva Prado Enea 2015
    WS94
    DEC98
    JD96
    JS97
    WA97
    $89.98
    Availability:In Stock

97 Points! The most classical of their wines, the 2015 Prado Enea Gran Reserva is a blend of Tempranillo, Garnacha, Mazuelo and Graciano, mostly from Rioja Alta (Sajazarra, Cellorigo and Fonzaleche), but the Garnacha is from different plots in the zone of Tudelilla at high altitude. These grapes are always picked last, but the wine has a similar alcohol level as the rest, around 14.5% in a warm year like 2019. The modus operandi is similar to other of the top cuvées—harvested into 200-kilogram boxes, destemming, optical sorting and fermentation in small oak casks with indigenous yeasts. The élevage in this case is extended to 36 months, and the barrels are only 10% new. This is, year in, year out, my favorite wine from Muga, and in this powerful and ripe year, these late-harvesting vines ripened thoroughly and delivered a full array of aromas and flavors so that the wine has plenty of depth and complexity. It has a very classical profile, with incipient tertiary notes, perfumed, floral and rich, textured and beautifully balanced. They compare this 2015 with 2009 and 2005 in terms of style but with freshness in the style of 2001 and 2010. It's enjoyable but should also develop for a long time in bottle. One of the finest Prado Enea vintages. - Luis Gutierrez, robertparker.com

  6. Bodega Lanzaga Rioja La Estrada 2017
    JS96
    WA94
Special Price $79.98 Regular Price $104.98
    Availability:In Stock
94 Points! The 2017 La Estrada, one of the new single-vineyard bottlings produced since 2014 comes from a northeast-facing 0.64-hectare plot, one of the highest vineyards in the village of Lanciego, at 610 meters in altitude, which helped to avoid the effect of the spring frost of 2017. It fermented in open-top 3,000-liter oak vat and matured in a combination of foudres and barriques for 14 to 16 months. For me, La Estrada and El Velado are in a different quality level than Tabuerniga and Las Beatas. This has a very Rioja character, with a faint rusticity, ripeness and some dusty tannins, but still very fresh for the conditions of the year. 1,932 bottles were filled in May 2019. - Luis Gutierrez, robertparker.com Learn More

  7. Bodega Lanzaga Rioja El Velado 2017
    JS96
    WA93
    $89.98
    Availability:Out of Stock
93 Points! The higher-altitude vineyards like some of the ones used for the 2017 El Velado resisted the spring frost of the year better, and despite being riper, the wine has managed to keep its poise and balance. This comes from a plot at 600 meters altitude planted 80+ years ago. Like the rest, it fermented in open 3,000-liter oak vats with indigenous yeasts and matured in barriques and foudres for some 15 months. They have kept the Burgundian bottle here because there is more Garnacha. This is a little more straightforward, with less complexity compared with the other single-vineyard bottlings, a lactic touch and a chalky tannins. 1,524 bottles were filled in May 2019. - Luis Gutierrez, robertparker.com Learn More
