  1. Domaine Daniel et Julien Barraud Pouilly Fuissé 1er Cru La Maréchaude 'Clos la Verchère' 2022
    NM93-95
    VM93-95
    $49.98
    Availability:In Stock

93-95 Points! The 2022 Pouilly-Fuissé Clos la Verchère La Maréchaude 1er Cru comes from limestone and marn soils that Julien Barraud explained are structured like a millefeuille for six meters, ergo, very resistant to hydric stress. This has a precise and focused bouquet with yellow fruit, lanolin, desiccated orange peel and pressed white flower scents. The palate is medium-bodied with a very elegant opening. The purity is striking, with perfectly pitched acidity and a persistent, quite mineral-driven finish. This will be irresistible, yet it will age for many years. - Neal Martin, Vinous Media

  3. Talmard Macon Chardonnay 2022
    $13.98
    Availability:Out of Stock

Winemaker Notes: It is mineral on the palate, gives off freshness, the terroir of the commune of Chardonnay being slightly different from those of the commune of Uchizy in the clay-limestone proportion. It is rare to find domaine-bottled wines in this part of the region, as the production is dominated by coops. Talmard exercises complete control over all facets of viticulture, winemaking, and bottling at the estate, reducing yields, harvesting early to preserve freshness, and bottling the wine with his own state-of-the-art bottling line. The result is one of the very finest examples of the fresh, appealing style of Chardonnay grown in rolling limestone hills of the Mâconnais.

  4. Domaine Daniel et Julien Barraud Pouilly Fuissé En Buland Vieilles Vignes 2021
    BH93
    $59.98
    Availability:In Stock

93 Points! Slightly more prominent wood frames aromas of ripe apple, fennel, wet stone and a plethora of citrus elements. The rich, concentrated and impressively scaled big-bodied flavors coat the palate with sappy dry extract that also buffers the firm acid spine shaping the bitter lemon zest and beautifully long if youthfully austere finish. This is muscular but not rustic vintage for En Buland, which always ages well, and the 2021 version should be no exception. - Allen Meadows, Burghound #92

  5. Domaine Daniel et Julien Barraud Pouilly Fuissé 1er Cru Les Crays Vieilles Vignes 2021
    BH92
    $49.98
    Availability:In Stock

92 Points! Pungent aromas of wood toast and reduction suppress the nose at present so a quick aeration should help. The very rich and generously proportioned medium-bodied flavors possess a seductive texture that carries over to the detailed, moderately austere and compact yet sneaky long finale. This too is very good and built to repay up to a decade of keeping though it should be reasonably approachable after only 5-ish years. - Allen Meadows, Burghound #92

  6. Domaine Daniel et Julien Barraud Pouilly Fuissé 1er Cru Sur La Roche 2021
    BH93
    VM92
    $49.98
    Availability:In Stock

93 Points! An elegant and markedly floral-suffused nose features airy aromas of essence of white orchard fruit, anise and citrus confit. There is excellent richness thanks to the impressive density of sappy dry extract that adds materially to the sense of volume of the medium-bodied flavors that also display fine length on the equally compact, serious and built-to-age finale. While this could also use better depth, the potential seems indisputable. - Allen Meadows, Burghound #92

  7. Domaine Daniel et Julien Barraud Pouilly Fuissé 1er Cru La Maréchaude 'Clos la Verchère' 2021
    BH92
    $47.98
    Availability:In Stock

92 Points! A discreet though easily discernible dollop of wood sets off the cool, airy and layered aromas of petrol, green apple, acacia blossom and overt citrus scents. There is almost painful intensity to the borderline aggressively mineral-driven flavors that conclude in a youthfully austere, chiseled and very dry finale. This is quite good and very promising though note that it's going to require at least some patience. - Allen Meadows, Burghound #92

  8. Domaine Daniel et Julien Barraud Pouilly Fuissé 1er Cru En France 2021
    BH91
    $47.98
    Availability:In Stock

91 Points! Subtle but not invisible wood is present on the cooler aromas of Granny Smith apple, essence of pear and a plentitude of citrus elements. The rich, generous and full-bodied flavors possess good power while delivering fine length on the palate soaking, clean and dry finale where a touch of rusticity slowly emerges. Solid quality here. - Allen Meadows, Burghound #92

  9. Domaine Daniel et Julien Barraud Pouilly Fuissé 1er Cru 2021
    BH91
    $44.98
    Availability:In Stock

91 Points! This is also sufficiently reduced to push the underlying fruit to the background. Otherwise, there is excellent vigor and minerality to the attractively textured medium weight flavors that terminate in a moderately dry and youthfully austere finish where the supporting acidity is also lemon-tinged. Worth considering as well. - Allen Meadows, Burghound #92

  10. Claude Manciat Pouilly Fuissé Courtelong 2021
    Availability:Out of Stock

Sourced from 40+ year old vineyards located in predominantly calcaire soils and previously imported under the label "Clos Noly", Marie-Pierre was forced to change her label a few years ago as the terroir that the previous label was named after officially received 1er Cru status (and so the moniker could longer be used), and she decided to pay homage to her father Claude by renaming the label after him. The wine was aged in 85% stainless steel and 15% in 1-3 year old barrels for 9 months prior to gentle bottling. Classic ‘uptown’ Chardonnay from the Maconnais here, fuller in the mid-palate than, say Chablis, but with a fine minerality and striking acid that buttresses all that generous fruit in the mid-palate, creating a seriously fine drinking experience from brilliant terroir for a nominal fee.

93 Points! Bottled shortly before I tasted it, Giroux's emblematic 2020 Pouilly-Loché Clos des Rocs (Monopole) unwinds in the glass with aromas of orange zest, Anjou pear, freshly baked bread, citrus blossom and nutmeg. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and fleshy, with racy acids and a long, saline finish, it's a quintessentially elegant, seamless wine which I'm sure will show even better when it has bounced back from bottling. - William Kelley, robertparker.com
