93 Points! The supremely elegant 2022 Lambrusco di Sorbara Radice is a pretty pink with orange hues. It opens with a blend of orange zests, tangerine and cracked slate. This enters the palate with a silken bead of bubbles contrasted by a sour burst of citrus as exotic inner florals and candied ginger nuances swirl throughout. A subtle grapefruit hint emerges through the crisply refreshing finale as the 2022 slowly tapers off. This is a blockbuster Radice. This is another stellar set of Champagne from Christophe Baron. The 2018s are simply lights out. Readers will note the addition of a new wine in this range, the Closeaux, which rounds out the collection of four pure Meunier Champagnes, all bottled in magnum only. Mignon and his cousins practice a decidedly Burgundian approach to winemaking. The wines are fermented in 600L Taransaud demi-muids (25% new), with heavy lees stirring, an approach Baron favors for building the wines, especially on the mid-palate and that allows for bottling with no dosage. 93 Points! The NV Brut Rosé No 3 Grand Cru is a pure Bouzy Pinot Noir that gets its beautiful intense onion-skin color from the addition of 8% red wine. The nose is rich and complex but at the same time pure and refined, with a nice chalky layer and vinous fruit intensity. Round and rich but fresh and vital on the pure and elegant palate, this is a full-bodied, pretty intense and persistent rosé to be served with main courses. The added dosage in the Brut version versus the Extra Brut lends texture and resonance while enhancing all the orchard fruit, citrus and floral flavors. 93 Points! The NV Rosé Rose Dame-Jane is light and airy in the glass. Crushed flowers, sweet crushed berries, white pepper and mint are all beautifully lifted. Translucent and gracious, the Dame-Jane is quite a departure for a house that was previously known for rich, opulent Champagnes. The Dame-Jane is done with an 'Oeil de Perdrix' base in which Pinot is given a short time on the skins for added color and structure. Right before bottling, touches of Chardonnay and still Pinot are added to fine-tune the blend. The Dame-Jane is aged entirely in sandstone terracotta, an approach that works beautifully. 94 Points! The deep golden colour promises the richness that nose and palate duly deliver. The first sniff reveals rounded generosity reminiscent of shortbread, further swirling brings yellow apple with overtones of ripe apricot. That apple and apricot combo settles into a mid-palate mellowness, edged and enlivened by smooth bubbles that frame all this richness with their welcome freshness. 93 Points! The 2013 Brut Cuvée Empreinte is endowed with notable richness and body, yet remains super-elegant and refined. Empreinte is 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay, all from Cumières, done mostly in oak, although there is not much of a presence of wood. Based on the 2019 vintage, but with a preponderance of reserve wines from 2018, Agrapart's NV Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Terroirs delivers notes of citrus oil, white flowers, freshly baked bread and hazelnuts, followed by a medium to full-bodied, creamy and satiny palate that's bright, lively and chalky.
