    WS90

90 Points!  It is no secret that Anthony Barton's efforts over the last decade at his St.-Julien estate, Leoville-Barton, is resulting in terrific wines at still reasonable prices. This estate has been extremely successful in recent vintages. An impressive, serious, classic Bordeaux for collectors who are willing to forget about it for at least a decade, this well-endowed offering is a 30-year wine. The dense, murky, purple color, closed aromatics, massive flavor richness, and high tannin recall the old, non-compromised, beefy, blockbuster Medocs produced thirty years ago. However, this wine possesses sweeter tannin, and was made under far more sanitary conditions. It is a classic, but patience is definitely required. Anticipated maturity: 2007-2030. - Robert Parker, robertparker.com, 1997

  3. Laville Haut Brion Blanc Pessac Leognan 1994
    WA94
    $249.98

94 Points!  This tightly knit, medium-bodied wine exhibits an intense, sweet nose of toast, minerals, honey and spices. There is ripe fruit and intensity on the palate, but the overall impression is one of a backward, undeveloped wine. It has 20-25 years of aging potential. Last tasted 3/97 - Robert Parker, robertparker.com

  4. Quinta do Poco Lobo Cabernet Sauvignon Beiras 1994
    $34.98
    Availability:In Stock
From the combination of perfect climatic conditions (some of you may recall 1994 was a helluva vintage in Portugal) and the winery’s strong commitment to producing a classic Bordeaux-style wine, the Quinta do Poco Lobo Cabernet Sauvignon Beiras 1994 is an epiphany.  This bottle I am presently drinking now, direct from the cold cellars where I found it, is striking on the nose.  It is still youthful and jam-packed with very pure black and red fruits, mixed with cedar and graphite notes and hints of evergreen. The palate retains its exquisite balance thanks to some fine tannin and layers of red, graphite-infused fruit that ease you into a seamless, wonderfully textured finish. While this wine is on point and perfectly ready to drink now, this has the acidity and freshness to age even longer in the cellar.  If I tasted this blind, I would pick it as a dead-ringer for a good vintage of Pichon Lalande or perhaps an older version of South Africa’s iconic De Toren Fusion V.

95 Points! The Chardonnay Belle Cote is always a more exotic wine. There are 2,200 cases of the 2005 Chardonnay Belle Cote, a wine with undeniable notes of crushed stones, white peach, orange, nectarine, and quince. Medium to full-bodied, with zesty acidity, stunning minerality, and a firm structure, this is a gorgeous, French-styled Chardonnay that should drink nicely for up to a decade. - Robert Parker, Wine Advocvate #174
