- Joseph Drouhin Cote de Beaune 2019$44.98Availability:In Stock
This is a mix of purchased fruit from the Grande Chatelaine vineyard, which may only be sold as Côte de Beaune, and declassified fruit from some Drouhin’s own Beaune 1er Cru vines. So great value! Rich bright purple, with a super-seductive yet fresh bouquet. Energy and finesse together. Has its own distinct label within the family of Clos des Mouches. Superb weight of smooth red fruit right across the palate and very good length.- Jasper Morris
Drouhin's 2019 Côte de Beaune goes from strength to strength. Consisting substantially of declassified Beaune premiers crus, it bursts from the glass with notes of raspberries, cherries, plums and petals. Medium to full-bodied, supple and enveloping, with melting tannins and succulent acids, it's an immensely charming red that exemplifies the appeal of the vintage. - William Kelley, robertparker.com

Bursting with aromas of sweet cherries, berries, rose petals and orange zest, the 2022 Bourgogne Côte d'Or is medium to full-bodied, ample and fleshy, with a succulent, charming profile that belies its track record of aging with grace.
The irrepressible Vincent Guillemot had every reason to smile as he showed me his family's 2022 portfolio, a range of wines characterized by purity and generosity of fruit. As readers will remember, this seven-hectare estate is rather classical, the reds fermenting in wooden tanks with temperature control, followed by élevage with modest percentages of new wood. Whole clusters increasingly play a role here. The wines are remarkably consistent, surpassing expectations in challenging years and fully delivering in more propitious vintages. - William Kelley, robertparker.com

I'm mortified that it has taken me so long to report to the Wine Advocate's readers on the impressive wines of Didier Fornerol. But better late than never. After over a decade at Domaine d'Arlot, Fornerol returned to his six-hectare family domaine in Corgoloin in 1999, and ever since—based on older bottles that I've recently had the occasion to drink—he has been turning out terrific wines. There's no smoke or mirrors at this address, just thoughtful viticulture, vinification with a considerable percentage of whole clusters and careful élevage in barrel with minimal percentages of new oak. The results are striking wines that would embarrass, nay humiliate, plenty of winemakers' grander appellations in a blind tasting—and not just out of the gates, but with bottle age too. Complex, perfumed and elegant, the wines merit a place in any serious Burgundy lover's cellar, and the modest tariff they command proves that great Burgundy remains, for the time being, accessible to all. - William Kelley, robertparker.com

Winemaker Notes: "Montagny is a very interesting wine, not just a simple "terroir wine". Its colour is pale. On the nose, aromas of golden apple, almond and fern, with a faint lemony note. There is a clear-cut and lively impression when first tasting the wine, followed by a feeling of roundness. Long aftertaste, with appetizing flavors of "compote" (stewed fruit)".

25% new oak and from vines of 45+ years of age; until 1994 this portion of Pressonnier was classified as Gevrey villages. Opaque color. Here too there is a jammy aspect to the baked plum nose, yet the ripe fruit is very fresh. Once again, the dense, vibrant and palate coating flavors that powerful, serious and long on the built-to-age and slightly warm finish. This is definitely atypical but particularly from a color and structure standpoint. Outstanding. - Allen Meadows, Burghound #89
