- Suprem Methode Ancestrale Garnacha Blanca Pet Nat$14.98Availability:In Stock
From the importer:
- Suprem is a natural sparkling wine. Enjoy it while you experience one of the earliest forms of sparkling winemaking: the ancestral method.
- Most sparkling wines are produced by a second fermentation (such as champagne) or by the addition of carbon dioxide in a tank (such as prosecco).
- Suprem is unique as it’s a sparkling wine with minimum handling.
- The Garnacha is sourced from the province of Tarragona in Catalonia.
Varietal Composition: White Garnacha
Elaboration: The ancestral method consists of bottling the wine partway through its primary fermentation, trapping the CO2 in the bottle. When the desired level of CO2 is reached, the wine is chilled and disgorged, but no expedition liqueur (sugar) is added.
Tasting Notes: Straw-colored wine with generous bubbles. Wide range of aromas, including flowers, white and tropical fruits. Broad palate, certainly fresh and fruity, with a very long and pleasant aftertaste.
Learn MoreHURRY, ONLY 7 LEFT! - Alvear Pedro Ximénez Solera 1830 NV 375ml Half BottleJD98WA97$99.98Availability:In Stock
98 Points! Almost off the charts, the NV Pedro Ximénez Solera 1830 comes from the oldest Solera blend of the estate and spent on average more than 50 years in American oak casks, with some lots going back to 1830. Black, inky, and massively concentrated and rich, it has an insane bouquet of crushed raisins, figs, coffee liqueur, and caramel. While powerful and just about over the top, it stays clean and balanced, and just keeps on going on the finish. It’s another wine to sip after a meal. - Jeb Dunnuck
Learn MoreHURRY, ONLY 1 LEFT! - Muga Rioja Gran Reserva Prado Enea 2015WS94DEC98JD96JS97WA97$89.98Availability:In Stock
97 Points! The most classical of their wines, the 2015 Prado Enea Gran Reserva is a blend of Tempranillo, Garnacha, Mazuelo and Graciano, mostly from Rioja Alta (Sajazarra, Cellorigo and Fonzaleche), but the Garnacha is from different plots in the zone of Tudelilla at high altitude. These grapes are always picked last, but the wine has a similar alcohol level as the rest, around 14.5% in a warm year like 2019. The modus operandi is similar to other of the top cuvées—harvested into 200-kilogram boxes, destemming, optical sorting and fermentation in small oak casks with indigenous yeasts. The élevage in this case is extended to 36 months, and the barrels are only 10% new. This is, year in, year out, my favorite wine from Muga, and in this powerful and ripe year, these late-harvesting vines ripened thoroughly and delivered a full array of aromas and flavors so that the wine has plenty of depth and complexity. It has a very classical profile, with incipient tertiary notes, perfumed, floral and rich, textured and beautifully balanced. They compare this 2015 with 2009 and 2005 in terms of style but with freshness in the style of 2001 and 2010. It's enjoyable but should also develop for a long time in bottle. One of the finest Prado Enea vintages. - Luis Gutierrez, robertparker.com
Learn More - Villota Rioja Viña Gena 2018DEC94JS93$39.98Availability:In Stock
93 Points! Very pretty berry and chocolate aromas with mocha and cedar. It’s medium-to full-bodied with linear tannins that run down the wine and finish in a bright and persistent fashion. Give it two or three years to soften. Drink after 2023. - JamesSuckling.com
94 Points! The Pérez-Villota family's holdings are right next to Contino (in fact, they used to be part of the same estate) and date back to the 1930s in the case of this varietal Tempranillo from vines close to the Ebro River. Chalky, intense and focused, this has bramble and blackberry fruit flavours, stylish oak and undertones of incense and wild herbs. Structured, serious stuff with supporting acidity. - Decanter Magazine
- Aseginolaza & Leunda Garnacha Navarra Kauten 2021WA94$26.98Availability:In Stock
94 Points! I love the pale, floral and delicate 2021 Kauten. This wine is the reason they started in the zone of Olite. The wine is elegant and ethereal. They do a soft extraction and only use half of the skins for the fermentation (50% of the clusters were pressed directly and the juice put in the fermentation vessel). They were worried because it's from a 20-year-old vineyard and they didn't want to extract much. They age it in used barrels for five months. The wine has 13.5%, and it's very approachable and expressive, with notes of sous bois, a vibrant palate and great freshness. Amazing wine and superb value. This is expressive, pure, deep and very satisfying. It should also age well. 1,246 bottles were filled in August 2022. - Luis Gutierrez, robertparker.com
Learn More - La Rioja Alta Rioja Gran Reserva 904 Selección Especial 2015JS98WA95VM95$89.98Availability:In Stock
98 Points! Very impressive complexity and width on the nose, showing lots of savoriness with mushrooms, sandalwood, cedar, sweet spices, dried oranges and tobacco. Really even and juicy on the palate with fine and very present tannins. Juicy, creamy finish lasting a minute. Really elegant and layered. It goes on and on. A real Rioja Gran Reserva and I recommend buying a case! The first vintage that La Rioja Alta labelled ‘Seleccion Especial’. So appealing now, but this will evolve well in the next 20 years. - JamesSuckling.com
95 Points! They used the words subtlety, elegance, finesse, delicacy and silk to define the 2015 Gran Reserva 904 Selección Especial, a blend of 90% Tempranillo from their vineyards in Villalba, Briñas and Rodezno with 10% Graciano from the Montecillo vineyard in Fuenmayor that was picked 23 days later than the Tempranillo. The grapes were sorted optically for the first time, and they fermented in stainless steel where the wine went through malolactic too. The wine was put in barrel in January 2016—used American oak barrels built by their own coopers—where it matured for four years, during which time it was racked every six months. 2015 was a healthy vintage with balanced ripeness that delivered wines with good aging potential. They thought the wine needed a little more time in bottle to polish those tannins and have decided to hold it and release the wine around March 2023; it will be marked Selección Especial, the first 904 to do so, as they have very high hopes for this year and believe it's one of the finest vintages. They think it will develop the sophistication in the palate with a little more time and that is should achieve the silkiness that is the signature of 904. - Luis Gutierrez, robertparker.com
Learn MoreHURRY, ONLY 11 LEFT! - Comando G Garnacha La Bruja de Rozas 2022WA94$34.98Availability:In Stock
94 Points! There is a change in the 2022 La Bruja. It is no longer a village wine from Rozas de Puerto Real. In 2022, it is a regional wine, and in 2023, it also will be a regional wine but from Ávila, from the Cebreros appellation, as they are focusing their work there. It's a juicy and aromatic Garnacha, very much in the Comando G style, with good ripeness, 14% alcohol and more in the style of the 2020. It has a medium-bodied palate and a sapid finish with contained ripeness and fine granite granularity. They macerated less to adapt to the vintage, and it partly fermented with less skins. It's a more approachable La Bruja, expressive, open and more fruit-driven, more in a Morgon style. - Luis Gutierrez, robertparker.com
Learn More - Terroir Al Limit Priorat Historic White 2022$29.98Availability:In Stock
From the importer: After a fateful tasting at Can Roca followed by the tasting menu, Dominik Huber became convinced that not enough attention was being paid to white wines in the Priorat. Out of the dozen courses he had, only about three were suited to red wines so when he got back to Torroja he set about creating two new wines at Terroir al Limit – Terra de Cuques and Pedra de Guix. Naturally when Dominik launched Terroir Històric in 2015, the white wasn’t going to be an afterthought and it in fact represents half of his production. A blend of Garnatxa Blanca and Macabeu, the Terroir Historic Blanc is pressed whole cluster, and ferments and ages for 6 months in a 5000L concrete tank. Nothing added, nothing taken away.
Learn More - Conde de Hervías Rioja Trinidad de Hervías 2019$29.98Availability:In Stock
From the importer: The village wine and entry to the Conde de Hervías range is Trinidad del Conde de Hervías, an outstanding value. Trinidad is the expression of three different single-vineyards in the village of Torremontalbo, on three distinct soil types, all planted to the original, ancestral clone of tempranillo: Romero, on pure calcareous clay soil in 1978, while Llano Alto on ferrous calcareous clay with river rocks, was planted in 1958.
Lastly, Trinidad contains a portion of the 1874 pre-phylloxera Las Arenillas vineyard, planted on sandy calcareous clay soil. Traditional goblet (bush training) method is used in the vineyard, which helps preserve acidity and freshness in the wines and guards against heat damage.Trinidad del Conde de Hervías is produced from hand-picked, organically-farmed grapes. Native yeasts are utilized for alcoholic fermentation, bringing the character of the vineyard to the wines. Recently, he has been utilizing a method called integrated fermentation, where alcoholic and malolactic fermentations happen simultaneously, bringing great harmony to the wine. Finally, the aging process is never hurried; the estate releases small quantities of each wine only when the time is right for each one to express its personality.
Learn More - Rafael Palacios Godello As Sortes 2022WA95$64.98Availability:In Stock
95 Points! The 2022 As Sortes feels very young and a little raw and undeveloped, with great freshness. Despite being a very warm summer, they had rain (20+ liters) that was absorbed by the grapes, which made a delicate wine, much fresher than expected. Of course, the high altitude of the vines and the late ripeness and harvest here also have to do with the fresh character of the wine, which transcends the character of the year. I'd wait a little to pull the cork...He's one of the finest white wine producers in Galicia and in Spain. - Luis Gutierrez, robertparker.com
Learn MoreHURRY, ONLY 11 LEFT! - Marqués de Murrieta Rioja Reserva 2010WA93$39.98Availability:In Stock
93 Points! The blend for the 2010 Rioja Reserva varies depending on the growing season. In the warm and ripe 2009 it was 93% Tempranillo, 4% Mazuelo and 2% Graciano and 1% Garnacha Tinta, always from their own vineyards and hand-harvested between October 2 and 23. Maria the winemaker thinks the Garnacha does not add much to their blend. The grapes fermented separately in stainless-steel vats and the wine aged for 21 months in American oak barrels. There is gob-smacking precision and elegance here. It's a pure wine with no oak that is super harmonious, floral and fragrant. I simply fell in love with the nose. Now onto the palate. The entry is really fluid, and then it explodes in your mouth, filling it along a thread of fine acidity making it long and tasty. It has the same astonishing purity and harmony, focus and precision found in the nose. This has to be the best Reserva from Murrieta in recent times. Bravo! One million bottles produced, but all the wine is one single lot and all the bottles you can find are exactly the same just they are bottled continuously for four months. Mind boggling quality for the price asked. - Luis Gutierrez, robertparker.com
Learn MoreHURRY, ONLY 8 LEFT! - Viñedos de Páganos Rioja El Puntido Gran Reserva 2008WA97$68.98Availability:Out of Stock
97 Points! I was greatly impressed by the 2008 El Puntido Gran Reserva, a wine with a more traditional profile than the majority of wines from the Eguren family. At age 14, the wine is glorious, still young and with a mixture of primary and more developed notes. It goes more in the direction of the old wines, with balsamic notes of incense and cedarwood, mushrooms and some berries and herbs. It's complex and elegant, with fully resolved tannins. This was bottled back in May 2011, so it's been in bottle for over a decade, and the texture shows it. It has 14% alcohol and a pH of 3.55. This matured in brand-new French oak barrels for 28 months, and the wine has absorbed the oak completely. - Luis Gutierrez, robertparker.com

From the winery: Our Wine macerated with its skins during fermentation acquiring in this process the orange color that gives it name. Sitta Maceración is a fresh wine with Good acidity but with the imprint of his contact with the skins. A white wine with body and pleasant tannin that will perfectly accompany “anti-pairing” meals. It will boost your blue cheeses and make you enjoy Galicia with your corn empanada.

93 Points! Deep, lurid ruby. Mineral- and smoke-accented blackberry, cherry and tobacco scents pick up floral and vanilla accents with air. Sappy, expansive black and blue fruit and violet pastille flavors open up steadily, energized by a spicy topnote. Concentrated yet lively in style, with a smoky mineral quality that adds cut to the impressively long, floral- and spice-driven finish. - Josh Raynolds, Vinous Media
Learn More - Lustau Moscatel Superior Emilin SherryWA96$26.98Availability:In Stock96 Points! The non-vintage Moscatel Emilin Solera Reserva is the sweetest sherry in this group as well as the easiest to appreciate as it is made from 100% Moscatel...These are all remarkable efforts for their stunning value. While they are still under-the-radar for most American wine lovers, I encourage readers to give them a try as they are great introductory reference points for how profound sherry can be. I first wrote about the extraordinary sherries of Emilio Lustau many years ago, in the early days of The Wine Advocate. The portfolio of under $25 a bottle selections represents remarkable value for their complex, well-made personalities. - Robert Parker, Wine Advocate
Learn MoreHURRY, ONLY 4 LEFT!Alvaro Palacios Priorat Finca Dofi 2021WS95JS96WA96-98$99.98Availability:In Stock96-98 Points! The more backward of the 2021s was the 2021 Finca Dofí, which was very primary and smelled almost like the fermentation vessels, and it took time in the glass to open up. The blend is higher in Garnacha and they couldn't use the Picapoll, as it didn't work well that cool year, so it's 90% Garnacha, 9% Cariñena and 1% white grapes. It achieved 14.5% alcohol but kept better freshness than in 2020, a constant in the 2021 wines. Very promising. - Luis Gutierrez, robertparker.com
Learn MoreHURRY, ONLY 5 LEFT!Rodrigo Méndez Albariño Sálvora 2021WA96$69.98Availability:In Stock96 Points! The 2021 Sálvora is serious and austere, young and undeveloped, a wine of purity and precision. It comes from a very old vineyard in the village of Meaño, and unfortunately, the 2023 will be the last vintage of this wine because the vineyard will be expropriated. It has a vibrant palate with an intense finish, very salty and tasty. It has a moderate 12% alcohol with notable freshness but with the advantage of the time in bottle that gave it more complexity and nuance. It fermented and matured in 600-liter oak barrels for 12 months. 2,000 bottles produced. - Luis Gutierrez, robertparker.com

The 2020 Cuvée Las Santas was produced from a number of small plots at higher altitudes and cooler expositions (north), only Garnacha, small plots. It has some Mediterranean, Châteauneuf-like character (cherries in liqueur, Mediterranean herbs) with 14% alcohol, very good acidity and very fine grained tannins. They fermented it with 50% full clusters and matured it in used French oak barrels for nine months. This is the wine they produce in the style they like, a more personal wine from special plots. 1,423 bottles were filled in March 2022. - Luis Gutierrez, robertparker.com
