- Quinta Do Noval Vintage Port 2018WS97$84.98Availability:In Stock
WS Top 100 2021 #45
97 Points! Juicy and muscular, with a ball of plum paste, warmed fig compote and black currant reduction flavors that need time to unwind. Ample graphite- and bramble-accented grip underscores the fruit on the finish, while a ganache note finds room to strut its stuff in the end. Should be one of the longer-lived wines of the vintage. Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Cão, Sousão and Tinta Roriz. Best from 2030 through 2055. - Wine Spectator

- Port Askaig 45 Year Islay Single Malt Scotch$1,999.98Availability:In Stock
Nestled into the north coast of the island, Port Askaig has been the gateway to Islay for hundreds of years. Port Askaig 45 Year is a rare example of the old Islay style. Distilled in 1968 and matured in five refill sherry butts, this unpeated single malt was distilled on Hogmanay in 1968 at Islay’s northernmost distillery. Bottled it at cask strength after the angels took their generous share. Fruit-driven, with almost no smoke and an abundance of tropical fruits such as mango and papaya, this is an exceptionally complex whisky that no Islay fan should miss. 40.8% ABV.

Only 2 casks of this special Scotch were produced!
Our Winex exclusive cask was aged for 8 years, spending just over 7 years in ex-Buffalo Trace Bourbon barrels and then transferred into fresh Sandeman Ruby Port Casks for 6 months. At 55.9% ABV we recommend just a splash of water. The nose is complex and layered with cocoa powder, stewed cherries and biscuit peeking through the distinctive peat. The peat from Kilchoman has always stood out in my mind because it lacks any medicinal or burnt rubber qualities that turn many off to a peated scotch. On the palate it opens up with a hint of sweetness from the port cask. Flavors of baked cherry tart, citrus marmalade, toffee and dusty cocoa are wrapped cozily with the smokiness of the peat which warms the senses with pipe tobacco, smoldering earth and crushed seashell notes. The finish is long and cascading with a full and satisfyingly round mouthfeel.

- Taylor Fladgate Reserve Tawny Port Historical Collection 'The Mallet'WA90$36.98Availability:Out of Stock
90 Points! The NV Reserve Tawny Port is a blend of multiple grapes, some in a field blend, with an average age of eight years in barrel. It comes in at 113 grams of residual sugar. This is something different—Taylor's normally does not make a Reserve Tawny...This is an overachiever for its young age, easily 10-Year quality (although Taylor's makes a pretty big 10—so perhaps that is not a good comparison with Taylor's own 10). It is fresh, complex for the style and very tasty, finishing with a sweet edge. The atmospheric bottle will make a nice gift, but it will be a pleasure to drink as well. This comes with a bar-top cork. Barring cork failures, it will age well, but tawnies do not need bottle aging. Dive in. - Mark Squires, robertparker.com

- Taylor Fladgate Tawny Port 10 Year OldWA90$29.98Availability:In StockThe NV 10 Year Old Tawny Port was bottled in 2014 with 105.23 grams per liter of residual sugar. Easily the 10 with the most weight in the Fladgate group's lineup this issue, it is a rather powerful 10 year old Tawny with plenty of pop, the biggest and baddest of the trio (Fonseca, Croft and this). There is very fine concentration of flavor for a 10 year old Tawny. If I had a quibble, the alcohol shows at times, especially early on and rather notably when drunk a little too warm. (Around 60 degrees Fahrenheit is a lot better than room temperature most of the time, to be sure, not just here.) Overall, the weight, complexity, mouth feel and grip on the finish still make this my favorite of the group of 10s submitted by Taylor Fladgate this issue, although it's close and there are some pros and cons. This comes with a bar top cork, i.e., not intended to be aged (although it most certainly can hold a couple of decades barring cork failures). - Mark Squires, eRobertParker.com #215, December 2015Learn MoreHURRY, ONLY 3 LEFT!

94 Points! This distinctive version is rich and ripe, as well as lively and zesty, with a burst of blueberry, raspberry and black currant flavors that mesh nicely with a vibrant set of sweet bay leaf, violet and sassafras notes. The fruit and savory sides race through the finish, where a subtle iron note emerges. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. - Wine Spectator

- La Rioja Alta Rioja Viña Ardanza Non-Vintage (Probably 1960's)$129.98Availability:Out of Stock
Though Rioja had been established as a quality appellation in 1953 (though unofficially demarcated as such back in the 1920’s) the criteria for aging and selling wines was loose to say the least, meaning that more than a few top producers at the time sold non-vintage bottlings simply because vintage did not matter. Selling wine did. Novel concept. The familiar hierarchy of Crianza – Reserva – Gran Reserva only came into legal effect in 1982. So how old is this La Rioja Alta Rioja Viña Ardanza Non-Vintage? Tough to say. Definitely no younger than the late 1960’s, though we’ve heard rumblings these bottlings were also produced in the 1950’s as well. So, at least 55 years old shall we say, seen as 1968 was an excellent harvest…after that, you’re guess is as good as ours.
