"Vieilles Vignes" comes from vines with a minimum of 50 years of age. The wine is a blend of two distinct terroirs, one in flatter sections closer to the Vienne river; the other on the hillsides.Calcareous soils with hard rock underneath on the hillsides. Flint-clay on limestone in the flats. Native-yeast fermentation in small concrete vats. Maceration of 30 days. Aging for about 6 months in French oak barrels of 5 to 10 years of age.

Xicaru Añejo is made with traditional methods from 100% Maguey espadin. It rests for a minimum of one year in medium-toasted, used American oak barrels and is finished to 86 proof. Used barrels are employed to prevent over-aging, and the higher proof helps to maintain the essential characteristics of mezcal.

The patience required for barrel aging is rewarded with a fuller, more concentrated and complex mezcal. Notes of vanilla and oak contribute a new aroma, flavor and sweetness that delicately balance with the smoke and maguey.

Who needs Sancerre when you have Quincy? This is a blend of several plots of Sauvignon on alluvial sand and gravel atop clay-limestone subsoil wiht an average vine age of 45 years. Harvested slightly overripe to seek ripe fruit and richness on the palette. Pneumatic pressing, undergoes a cold pre-fermentation maceration in temperature-controlled inox , as means to search for a balance between freshness and fruitiness according to the vintage. The wines are then racked onto their fine lees and aged for a few more months. Aging 6 months. 

70% Chardonnay (5% sous voile), 30% Savagnin from multiple vineyards, totaling 4.0 ha in all, planted between 1980 and 1989.

En Lya: west-facing, shallow clay-silt soil with limestone scree over a deeper layer of Liassic gray marl. Au Calvaire: southeast-facing on a gentle slope, tucked away in a valley, fine limestone scree and clay soil over gray marl. Trémoulette: at the bottom of a west-facing slope, fine limestone scree and clay soil over gray marl.

Varieties are vinified and aged separately, 5% of the chardonnay is further separated and aged sous voile. Pressed with whole clusters with a pneumatic press. Ambient yeast fermentation, malolactic conversion and aging for 18 months in used barrels. Blended and aged for an additional 18 months in tank.

From Don Pilar: Don Pilar’s Extra Añejo is aged in new American White Oak barrels for 36 months. Leopoldo and Gabriel—our master distillers—add a final, masterly stroke and finish aging it for an additonal four months in French Limousin Oak casks to impart a luscious fruity finish.

Sourced from vineyards in Bolgheri and in the neighboring area of Bibbona, mainly planted on dark soils full of lime and clay. Merlot, Syrah and Sangiovese ferment and macerate separately for around 15 days. After 12 months of aging in oak, they are blended and then aged for several months in the bottle before release.

The 15 Year’s nose opens with subtle fragrant pear notes that give way to aromas of raisin and pungent brown sugar. Rich black currant jam and brûlée caramel flavors unfold, leading into spice notes of ginger snaps and fresh-cracked black pepper. Butterscotch candy lingers on the soft, extended finish.

Slightly peated French triple malt whisky. Powerful and expressive, the nose reveals the slightly smoky malt blends as baked apples begin to dance across. The nose evolves with subtle spicy hints of cinnamon and nut-meg, mingling with the beguiling class coming from a long ageing, with touches of orange peel and roast pineapple. The taste evokes the texture and richness of walnut oil. It is full and robust thanks to its gently salty freshness. Primary aging includes three to five years in French oak casks, with a secondary post-blend ageing in old Calvados casks.

Colonel Edmund Haynes Taylor, Jr. is widely considered one of the founding fathers of the bourbon industry, fighting for the Bottled-in-Bond Act of 1897, nearly three decades after he purchased what is now called Buffalo Trace Distillery. During his time, Taylor implemented several innovative methods still used today, including climate controlled aging warehouses. Many of the barrels selected for the E.H. Taylor, Jr. Single Barrel are aged in Warehouse C, which was built by Taylor in 1881 and proven to be an excellent aging warehouse. Each barrel is hand-picked and Bottled in Bond at 100 proof to honor its namesake.

The aroma carries lightly toasted oak, with dried figs and butterscotch. One sip brings flavors of sweetness balanced with tobacco and dark spices. The finish is just long enough to prepare the palate for another sip. 

From Les Lys, Montmains and Vaudevey. The grapes are farmed organically. Juice purchased at the time of pressing, so fermentation, aging and all besides vineyard work is under their watch. Fermented in barrel with native yeast. Aged for 18 months on the lees using integral fermentation (in a sealed barrel with no fining or filtration).

The grapes come from three parcels totaling .5 hectare that were planted from 1960 to 2000 on the southwest side of the village on deep and well-draining red clay marls. Aged for 12 months (15 to 20% of new oak barrels). After aging, the wine is placed in vats for 6 months and is bottled at the estate.

Champ Divin’s cuvée of chardonnay is fresh and delicate; notes of pear, along with hints of yellow peaches and biscuit on a finely tuned finish. A delicious and very approachable example of Jurassien chardonnay.

at bottling (2 g/hl). Bottled un-fined and unfiltered.

96+ Points! The 2018 Barolo Lazzarito represents Vietti's interpretation of Serralunga d'Alba, the village often associated with the most powerful wines in the appellation. The Lazzarito completes its secondary fermentation in barrique over three months and is then racked into large oak botti for an additional two years of aging. With some 8,000 bottles produced in this smaller vintage, the wine is very indicative of its geographic origins with tight black fruit, rusty nail, blood orange and earth. Compared to the others in this series, this wine delivers more lasting tannic power. A bit salty and savory now, it is well suited to long aging. - Monica Larner, robertparker.com

Hand-harvested. Estate fruit. 2ha of 40 year old vines on clay and limestone soils with east and west exposure. 6,000 vines/ha.

Vinification & Aging Direct press. Native yeast fermentation. After alcoholic fermentation, 25 ppm of SO2 is added to stop  malolactic fermentation. Aged for 2 years on the lees. 0.3g/L dosage. 12% abv.

From the importer: The Vieilles Vignes fruit comes from (a combined half hectare total) Les Malpoiriers and Les Pellans lieu-dits. The Meursault planted vines range in age of 80-85 years of age and the wine is aged 1 year in barrel, 25% of which is new oak. Fantastic wine with a long traditionally Meursault finish, with richness and vibrancy you would expect from such old vines.

Sourced from Jack Ranch Farms, Spanish Springs Vineyard, Greengate Farms and Vista Verde Vineyards, 7 months aging in 228L and 500L barrels, 1month in stainless steel. A delight!
