On August 19th, we picked our third vintage of rosé from the ancient vines at Stampede Vineyard in Clements Hills. We couldn't be happier with how the wine turned out. Pressed whole-cluster and fermented in stainless steel. A slow, cold fermentation led to a weightier and more textural rosé, but the wine is everything you'd want a California rosé to be. At only 12.5% alcohol, the wine has loads of acidity, but with a density and vivacity you'd expect from old vine Zinfandel. Drink now and drink often. This wine* is* springtime. -
Stirm Zinfandel Wirz Vineyard Zinfandel Cienega Valley Old Vines 2022
Special Price $14.98 Regular Price $35.00HURRY, ONLY 5 LEFT!The old Wirz Vineyard was originally planted around 1900 to “mixed blacks” as Pat Wirz, the longtime farmer/owner likes to call them. The mix is the typical field blend of vineyards in the Diablo range that consist of Mataro, Carignan, Zinfandel, and the oddball Cabernet Pfeffer. However, in 1964, about 45 acres of white Riesling were planted. The San Andreas Fault runs through the vineyard, which sits at the base of the Eastern flank of the Gabilan Mountains. There are several different soil types found here. The Riesling is mostly planted on deep granitic sand, and some is on the darker clay loam that’s weathered from limestone. Dry farmed, own rooted, head trained, and organic.

Bedrock Zinfandel California Old Vine 2023
$23.98JD93WS92VM91RP9193 Points! The 2023 Zinfandel Old Vine was raised in 600-gallon foudre with a small proportion (8%) in new oak, and it’s roughly 90% Zinfandel along with an eclectic field mix. The nose opens to bright peppery spice, fresh cut flowers, and black raspberries, with deeper notes of fresh sanguine earth coming through. The palate is full-bodied yet restrained, with a detailed structure and length with a mountainous feel. It’s a great lens into the range they produce here at Bedrock and a tremendous value. - Audrey Frick, jebdunnuck.com
92 Points! Sleek and juicy, with fan-friendly cherry, raspberry, toasty spice and briar accents that glide on the zesty finish. - Wine Spectator
From the winery:
We take pride in this being one of the greatest value wines in the world, and in a year like 2023, where quality was excellent across California and crop yields were strong, it shines even brighter. Nearly 50% of the wine is from Sodini Ranch on Limerick Lane in Healdsburg, Bedrock Vineyard in Sonoma Valley, Teldeschi Ranch in Dry Creek, and Evangelho Vineyard in Contra Costa County, with the remainder of the wine comprised of declassified barrels from vineyards we farm like Beeson Ranch, Katushas', Pato, and Mori, along with bits from Dolinsek, Banfield, Sky, and Old Hill Ranch. Deep and vibrant in color, this showcases both the freshness and richness of the 2023 vintage. The average vine age is over 80 years for this wine, and 70% of the fruit is farmed by the winery—something that continues to ensure consistency. Almost entirely fermented with indigenous yeasts, this is aged in a combination of foudre, puncheons, and barrique with a very small amount of new oak—the goal is always to make a wine brimming with lovely fruit while retaining the natural acid and spice character that makes Zinfandel such a great fit for California.

DeRose Zinfandel Old Vines Cedolini Vineyard Cienega Valley 2021
$42.98Cienega Valley is an elevated pocket in the Gabilan Mountains 1,100 feet above sea level. The region’s warm, dry conditions are quite agreeable to the thin-skinned
Zinfandel grapes, enabling sound crops to be picked late in the year without the threat of bunch rot. The Gabilan Range is high enough to protect vines from direct contact with the cold coastal air, but low enough to allow breezes to mitigate the heat of summer afternoons. Rainfall averages 15 inches per year while fog is rare. This temperate climate is well suited to producing rich red wines.

Maggio Family Vineyards Zinfandel 2021
$9.98Out of StockOut of stockFrom the winery: The fruit for our Maggio Family Vineyards wine is sourced entirely from our sustainably farmed, family-owned estate vineyards in Lodi, CA. Lodi enjoys warm days and cool nights which allows the grapes to fully ripen while maintaining their natural acidity.
The 2021 growing season was characterized by the drought’s effects on vineyards in Lodi. There was reduced yield across all varietals with harvest beginning mid August. Quality looks excellent, with higher sugar content and robust natural acidity.
This medium-bodied wine showcases exuberant flavors of ripe black berry and dark cherry. A subtle sweetness with toasted oak highlights the fruit and balances the acidity. Plush tannins, smooth finish.
