Learn MorePlanted in 1973, the south-facing Cold Creek Vineyard is a warm, dry site with high heat accumulation. The low yielding old vines produce small clusters and small berries, resulting in intense varietal flavors and deep color.
The blend here is 76% Merlot and 24% Malbec aged for 22 months in 54% New French oak and 7% New American oak. Gentle pump overs were used to extract optimal flavor and color and minimize harsh tannins.
The wine is a complete joy to drink, rich, bountiful, full of velvety, plummy Merlot fruit, framed by the more urgent blue fruits and florals of the Malbec, which also provided the classic Bordeaux-inspired structure from this old-vine site. What. A. Wine.
