  5. Il Censo Nero d'Avola Provvido 2016
    $32.98
    Availability:In Stock
From the importer: “Provvido” is produced from Nero d’Avola grown at 650 meters altitude and aged in the non-interventionist style of Gaetano’s mentor, Giampiero Bea: no added yeasts, no temperature stabilization, no fining or filtering, and a minimum of added sulfur dioxide (total sulfur is 65 mg/L). 2016 marks the first vintage for this, RWM’s first ever Nero d’Avola, and it is a delightful addition to Il Censo’s lineup: deep in color, exuberant in personality, and an exceptional value as well. Fruits lean toward black cherry and blackberry, with notes of licorice and dark chocolate. It’s a proud sun-drenched southerner, ample and gregarious, but with tons of high-toned spice to balance, as well as a well-mannered flirtation with volatility that remains firmly on the correct side of the fence. 92 Points!  The 2017 Sicilia Menfi Chardonnay boasts the energy and radiance of the new world of Sicilian enology. Toasted spice and apricot are followed by honey, poached pear and sweet spice such as cinnamon and nutmeg (but only just a pinch). I'll give this wine a solid 10-year drinking window. There is a touch of sweet honey on the finish. - Monica Larner, robertparker.com

  9. Benanti Etna Bianco Superiore Pietramarina 2015
    WA93
    $69.98
    Availability:In Stock
93 Points!  The 2015 Etna Bianco Superiore Pietra Marina (100% Carricante) is just so lovely. The wine is ethereal, light and delicate. On first nose, you get precise aromas of white peach, zesty pear and blanched almond. As the wine fleshes out and takes on more volume in the glass, it displays a beautiful array of mineral nuances. Those salty flinty notes will continue to evolve over the next ten years. It ages on the fine lees for 24 months in steel vats. - Monica Larner, robertparker.com

  13. Passopisciaro Etna Rosso Contrada Rampante 2015
    VM92
    $59.98
    Availability:In Stock
92+ Points! Bright red. Very elegant, clean, precise aromas and flavors of red berries, botanical herbs and sweet spices. Finishes very mineral and refined with lots of lingering spicy red fruit. This is the most ready Contrada R (R stands for Rampante) I remember tasting from Franchetti; usually I find the wines from this specific Etna contrada (his vines are located high up at 1000 meters, or roughly 3500 feet above sea level) to be rigid and tannic in their youth. Instead this wine can be drunk now, though it will also last another ten years without problems. The grapes were picked at the end of October building up enough sugar for the wine to clock in at 14% alcohol. - Ian D'Agata, Vinous Media

  14. Girolamo Russo Etna Rosso Feudo 2014
    JS93
    WA94
    VM93
    $49.98
    Availability:In Stock
94 Points! Showing vibrant color saturation, the 2014 Etna Rosso Feudo is the most conventional and contemporary of Giuseppe Russo's single-vineyard red wines in this fabulous vintage. It earns high marks for this reason. This classic Etna red shows dark-fruit aromas of prune, plum and pressed blackberry. Dark mineral notes with grilled herb and pressed flower fill in at the rear. It offers the quality you should expect of a wine of this important pedigree. - Monica Larner, Wine Advocate #232
