91-93 Points!  A beautiful wine that shines on all accounts, the 2018 Château Joanin Bécot is a blend of 75% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Franc from a cooler, limestone terroir in the Castillon region of Bordeaux. Aged in 50% new oak (15% in amphora), it offers a beautiful limestone and mineral-laced style in its blackcurrants, black cherry, dried herbs, camphor, and graphite aromas and flavors. Beautifully balanced, authentic, and lengthy, it will shine on release yet has the class to evolve for over a decade. - Jeb Dunnuck, jebdunnuck.com

91-92 Points!  A light and fruity red with pretty, crushed berry and cherry character. Very fine tannins. Medium body. Clean finish. 30 per cent amphora. Fun. - James Suckling, jamessuckling.com

94 Points! Aromas of blackberries and blackcurrants. Hints of fresh and wet earth. Full-bodied, very tight and polished with ultra-fine tannins and a beautiful finish. Shows intensity and brightness. Exciting. Top for the appellation. Needs five to six years to come together, but already gorgeous. - James Suckling

Raison d’Hêtre, the second wine of Jacques Thienpont's (Chateau Le Pin) newest acquisition, is a blend of 95% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc as well but from the young vines and from the parcels of clay-limestone on the lower slopes.  It has a pretty dark violet colour, is round and fresh with red fruit aromas.  Its taste is lively and spicy with attractive fruit/tannin balance.

91 Points!  Surprisingly evolved and complex already, this wine is even more powerful than the 2010. Reaching 14.5% natural alcohol, the vines were cropped at an astonishingly low 20 hectoliters per hectare. A final blend of 80% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Cabernet Franc, this wine is dense and rich, with a dark purple color, loads of creosote, camphor, black raspberry and blueberry fruit, as well as hints of sweet cherry and toasty oak. Lush, pure, full-bodied and intense, this is a stunning sleeper of the vintage, much like the 2010. It is capable of lasting at least a decade.  Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate #194, April 2011
