90 Points! The 2015 Riesling Federspiel Ried Klaus offers a precise bouquet of white fruits intertwined with herbal and flinty stone aromas. Round and intense on the palate, with beautiful concentration and a persistent, lovely salty finish, this is a highly elegant and complex, tightly structured Riesling from one of the most spectacular single-vineyard sites of the Wachau. The finish is full of tension, purity, salt and finally pretty long as well. - Stephan Reinhardt, Wine Advocate #225

  4. Alzinger Gruner Veltliner Steinertal Smaragd 2015
    WA93
    $54.98
    Availability:In Stock
93-94 Points! The 2015 Grüner Veltliner Smaragd Loibner Steinertal is from the first terraced vineyard of the Wachau (when you enter the valley from Krems) and its soils are very shallow. The complex and coolish, lovely precise nose displays smoky and stony aromas intertwined with ripe, white-fruit aromas and some legumes. Full-bodied, rich and intense on the palate this is a very elegant, salty and piquant Veltliner with a tension-filled, remarkably long finish. This is probably one of the outstanding Veltliners of the 2015 vintage in the Wachau. - Stephen Reinhardt, Wine Advocate #225

  5. Nikolaihof Riesling Steinriesler 2002
    VM96
Special Price $49.98 Regular Price $95.00
    Availability:In Stock
96 Points! The third such Riesling Vom Stein of Federspiel weight to be given an élevage formerly reserved for Smaragd-weight “Vinothek” offerings, this was only bottled in April 2015. There are refinements and complexities of aromatics, flavor and texture here that go far beyond those found today in the lovely “regular” 2002 Federspiel Vom Stein (tasted alongside and also covered in this report). Moreover, this wine tastes fresher, which may seem less surprising if one thinks for a moment about the difference in size between a bottle and a cask. Moss, lichen, forest floor and flor mingled on the nose with fresh apple and plum. Caressingly silken and buoyant, this spreads a midpalate carpet of incredibly intricate and subtle design as well as irresistible juiciness. A soaringly sustained finish introduces smoky, crystalline and stony elements along with a mouthwateringly saline savor reminiscent of clam juice.

  6. Nikolaihof Riesling Steiner Hund 2012
    VM95
Special Price $42.98 Regular Price $80.00
    Availability:In Stock
95 Points! Prominent lemony brightness and underlying alkalinity do not convey an immediate impression of such a ripe, sunny vintage as this was. Aromatically alluring sea breeze, fennel pollen, and green and black tea persist in the mouth, where this wine also grabs hold of the palate and salivary glands in an outpouring of lemon-drenched oyster liquor. The combination of polish and clarity on display is similarly striking, though by no means unusual in an installment of what is in effect the Nikolaihof’s iconic offering. The long, vibrant finish displays kaleidoscopic flavor interactions no less memorable or mesmerizing for their being nuanced and understated; nor is there any let-up in the onrush of marine salinity. The Saahs family bottled this wine in April 2015 and released it just as stocks of its 2010 counterpart were running low, leaving the 2011 behind in cask for now.
