  3. Atzberg Gruner Veltliner Steilterrassen 2016
    $31.98
    Availability:In Stock
Over the years we have told a lot of tales. More than a few of them have been about a new star coming to market that was going to have a significant impact. This one is more of a rebirth of sorts that has the potential to have greater impact as time passes in the rather specific area of Austrian whites. For the time being, it is important to understand the ‘players’, and as importantly the dirt, or the stones as this elevated site is a bit light on topsoil.

  4. Atzberg Gruner Veltliner Obere Steilterrassen 2015
    WA92+
    $64.98
    Availability:In Stock
From the upper terraces of the 51% steep Atzberg in St Michael (Weissenkirchen), the 2015 Grüner Veltliner Smaragd Obere Steilterrassen opens with a deep yet fine, cool and very elegant nose with flinty and yeasty flavors. This bouquet is very well defined and balanced, and it reflects the cooler microclimate of Spitz. On the palate, this is a rich, elegant and silky textured but not fully dry Grüner Veltliner that reveals fine tannins in the concentrated and aromatic finish. This is a promising wine but should be cellared for at least another five to seven years. - Stephan Reinhardt, robertparker.com Learn More
  5. Jamek Riesling Ried Klaus Federspiel 2015
    WA90
    VM92
    $36.98
    Availability:In Stock
90 Points! The 2015 Riesling Federspiel Ried Klaus offers a precise bouquet of white fruits intertwined with herbal and flinty stone aromas. Round and intense on the palate, with beautiful concentration and a persistent, lovely salty finish, this is a highly elegant and complex, tightly structured Riesling from one of the most spectacular single-vineyard sites of the Wachau. The finish is full of tension, purity, salt and finally pretty long as well. - Stephan Reinhardt, Wine Advocate #225

  6. Alzinger Gruner Veltliner Steinertal Smaragd 2015
    WA92
    $54.98
    Availability:In Stock
92 Points! Leo Alzinger's Loibner 2015 Ried Steinertal Grüner Veltliner Smaragd is dense, intense and aromatic on the well-concentrated and stony nose. Full-bodied and rich, powerful, massive and open the palate, this Smaragd still needs time, as it lacks a bit of freshness and piquancy at the moment. It's a monumental Veltliner that I tasted during VieVinum at the Vienna Hofburg in June 2018. - Stephen Reinhardt, robertparker.com

  7. Nikolaihof Riesling Steinriesler 2002
    VM96
Special Price $49.98 Regular Price $95.00
    Availability:Out of Stock
96 Points! The third such Riesling Vom Stein of Federspiel weight to be given an élevage formerly reserved for Smaragd-weight “Vinothek” offerings, this was only bottled in April 2015. There are refinements and complexities of aromatics, flavor and texture here that go far beyond those found today in the lovely “regular” 2002 Federspiel Vom Stein (tasted alongside and also covered in this report). Moreover, this wine tastes fresher, which may seem less surprising if one thinks for a moment about the difference in size between a bottle and a cask. Moss, lichen, forest floor and flor mingled on the nose with fresh apple and plum. Caressingly silken and buoyant, this spreads a midpalate carpet of incredibly intricate and subtle design as well as irresistible juiciness. A soaringly sustained finish introduces smoky, crystalline and stony elements along with a mouthwateringly saline savor reminiscent of clam juice.

  8. Nikolaihof Riesling Steiner Hund 2012
    VM95
Special Price $42.98 Regular Price $80.00
    Availability:In Stock
95 Points! Prominent lemony brightness and underlying alkalinity do not convey an immediate impression of such a ripe, sunny vintage as this was. Aromatically alluring sea breeze, fennel pollen, and green and black tea persist in the mouth, where this wine also grabs hold of the palate and salivary glands in an outpouring of lemon-drenched oyster liquor. The combination of polish and clarity on display is similarly striking, though by no means unusual in an installment of what is in effect the Nikolaihof’s iconic offering. The long, vibrant finish displays kaleidoscopic flavor interactions no less memorable or mesmerizing for their being nuanced and understated; nor is there any let-up in the onrush of marine salinity. The Saahs family bottled this wine in April 2015 and released it just as stocks of its 2010 counterpart were running low, leaving the 2011 behind in cask for now.
