  2. Schloss Gobelsburg Gruner Veltliner Reid Renner 1 Kamptal 2016
    JS92
    WA91
    $39.98
    Availability:In Stock
91-92 Points! Tasted as a sample in June 2017, the 2016 Ried Renner 1ÖTW (from the bottom of the Gaisberg) is beautifully aromatic and flinty on the pure, fresh and elegant nose that is still a bit reductive but very well defined. On the palate, this is a mouth-filling yet pure, fresh and finessed Grüner Veltliner with a stimulating mineral grip and an intense as well as lingering minerality. The vines are 20 to 60+ years old and root in crystalline soils such as gneiss and mica with amphibolite. The 2016 is a classic of great purity, tension, finesse and elegance. - Stephan Reinhardt, Wine Advocate

90 Points!  Very appealing, with a jolt of electricity from the acidity fueling the peach, white raspberry and ground ginger notes. Tobacco and white chocolate accents linger on the long, pure-tasting finish. - Wine Spectator

  4. Schloss Gobelsburg Riesling Ried Gaisberg Kamptal 2016
    JS95
    WA92
    $36.98
    Availability:In Stock
92-93 Points! The 2016 Ried Gaisberg 1ÖTW is a Kamptal Riesling from the Kammerner Gaisberg and has a dense and concentrated nose with fresh lemon and vegetal aromas of green asparagus intermixed with peppery and crystalline flavors. On the palate, this is a pure, dry, straight, finessed and beautifully salty Riesling that doesn't have any flesh or sugar grams on its bones. It is a highly delicate, pure and elegant Gaisberg with a great grip. It is an enormously stimulating and refreshing Riesling. A great Riesling not just for Riesling freaks. Tasted as a sample in June 2017. At this price you can hardly get any better Riesling than Gobelsburg's Gaisberg or Bründlmayer's regular Heiligenstein.- Stephan Reinhardt, Wine Advocate

Hiedler's 2012 Riesling Gaisberg is pithy and piquant and in a way that reminds me of the 2010, however different those two vintages might otherwise be. Surprisingly lean in texture for a 2012, it penetrates and persists with grapefruit and orange rind, apple-pip, ginger, stone and alkali. Full yet rather austere, this generates interactive dynamic encompassing also floral and herbal essences, as such representing a formidable advance beyond the performances of its Steinhaus and Urgestein siblings. I'm anxious to witness how it evolves but would tentatively suggest planning on service through 2016, though I hope that projection proves conservative, even ridiculously so. - David Schildknecht, Wine Advocate #212
