It boasts intense, classic aromas of pencil shavings and cassis on the nose, then delivers rich waves of velvety but structured fruit on the full-bodied palate. If there's any complaint, it's that it's perhaps a bit too monolithic, but it's a young wine and should add layers of complexity given enough time in the cellar. 95 Points! The 2019 Savitar Shiraz was my pick of the bunch. This is serious, precise and driven and, again, sourced from Whites Valley, as is the 2019 GAM Shiraz. The maturation rolls out in 100% French oak. The extract here is savory and firm; the fruit is driven by tannins, and they really screw down the fruit and compress it in the glass. It’s tight. 94 Points! The 2021 Tir na N'og Old Vine Grenache is dark, spicy and brooding on the nose, with layers of Christmas spice, black and red berries and the earthy base of licorice and iodine. In the mouth, the wine silky, dark and statuesque. The tannins are very finely countersunk into the fruit; they are chalky and gently grippy and shape the fruit in the mouth.
