From the winery: Crafted from several distinct vineyard sites, this wine incorporates two Sauvignon Blanc clones — Sauvignon Musqué and Sauvignon Gris — for added complexity and texture. In expressing the Dry Creek Valley’s unique terroir, the 2024 vintage opens with bright aromas of lemon blossom, passionfruit, pineapple-guava, kiwi and jasmine. On the palate, vibrant notes of tart pineapple, lemon gelato, tangerine and grapefruit are balanced by hints of white pepper and citrus pith. It is a wine of depth with layers of complex aromas, flavors and textures, while remaining fresh and bright with brisk acidity.

  9. Du Tertre Margaux 2001

    Du Tertre Margaux 2001

    Quickview

Château du Tertre takes its name from the ground beneath it: a single, unbroken block of vines crowning one of the highest gravel rises in Margaux, where deep, well-drained soils yield small, concentrated berries with the perfume and silky tannin that define the appellation. Unusually generous plantings of Cabernet Franc alongside Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot give the wine its lifted florals and grace. The 2001 captured the estate just as its late-1990s renovation began paying off, in a cool, classic vintage with a dry, luminous September that produced balanced, fresh, true clarets. Long overshadowed by the flashier 2000, the 2001s have quietly become the connoisseur's Bordeaux of that era, and this bottle delivers everything mature Margaux promises at a fraction of the price of its First and Second Growth neighbors.

Tasting note, 25 years on: Deep garnet with a gentle brick rim. The nose is pure mature Margaux, with dried violets, cassis and black cherry folded into cedar, pencil shavings, sweet tobacco, forest floor and a whisper of truffle. Medium-bodied and seamless on the palate, the fruit fully resolved yet still vibrant, the tannins melted to satin and the acidity keeping everything fresh and lifted, with Cabernet Franc's graphite minerality running through an elegant, weightless mid-palate to a long, gently spiced finish. Decant thirty minutes and serve with roast lamb or duck. In its sweet spot now, with a decade of life ahead.

97 Points! Suave, elegant and calmly confident. A masterclass in high-definition winemaking where all the elements are presented harmoniously with structure, freshness, complexity and a wide expansive finish. Tannins are well integrated giving support to the shining black Cabernet fruit that has strength, power and concentration but delivered underneath the savoury salinity, liquorice spice and minerality. There’s something very special about this. I love the sense of discretion, a wine that knows it has star quality but it’s not shouting about it. Pure and poised - incredibly inviting! A great buy. - Decanter Magazine

95 Points!  Classically styled, restrained yet muscular, very much showing the linear identity of Duhart, pure and to the point, with cassis, blackberry, graphite, liquorice and slate-scrape tannins, rounded out by raspberry leaf and salt-tang minerality on the finish. The first full year of new cellar, excellent stuff from the team at DBR Lafite, technical director Eric Kohler. Harvest September 9 to 29 - Jane Anson

94 Points! Dark currants with blackberries and a touch of pencil shavings. Good perception of freshness despite the ripe black fruit. Tight, full-bodied and fine-grained on the palate. Long, structured and juicy. 64% cabernet sauvignon, 31% merlot and 5% cabernet franc. Give it two or three more years. - JamesSuckling.com

92 Points! Blackcurrants, smoky tobacco, crushed stone, and graphite emerge from the 2022 Echo De Lynch-Bages, ripe, concentrated, structured second wine. It has more than a small resemblance to the Grand Vin in a rounder, more mouth-filling style that will have two decades of overall longevity. - Jeb Dunnuck

93 Points! Blue fruits, subtle perfume, a juicy blackcurrant and stony minerality on the nose. Supple and juicy, a real sense of fun with detail to the fine tannins. Well balanced, gorgeous texture, depth and characterful. A great second wine still with terroir markers, a salty finish, chalky texture and grippy tannins. Still concentrated and serious, there’s an intensity to the fruit but really well delivered. Will be a beauty. 91 IPT. 3.69pH. Ageing 14 months, new and one year old oak barrels. 3.9 g/L total acidity. 91 IPT. - Georgina Hindle, Decanter.com
