Latour stopped selling en primeur back in 2012. Since then, the château releases its wines only when it decides they are ready to drink, straight from the estate's cellars. So when Latour opens the doors on not one but TWO vintages at once, we pay attention.
Both current releases are on pre-arrival today: bottles that have never traded hands, never crossed a warehouse floor, never been anywhere but 50 meters from where they were made. For First Growth Bordeaux, provenance does not get better.
The 2019: Four Perfect Scores

Sourced entirely from the legendary l'Enclos vineyard, the 2019 is a blend of 92.5% Cabernet Sauvignon and 7.5% Merlot from a near-perfect growing season. Jeb Dunnuck, Lisa Perrotti-Brown, Decanter's Georgina Hindle and The Wine Palate all called it perfect. The palate is full-bodied and densely structured, with ripe grainy tannins, tremendous depth and a finish multiple critics described as seemingly endless. What separates the 2019 from many great Latours is its approachability: polish and poise that reward opening sooner than expected, with the architecture to develop for five decades.
100 Points, Jeb Dunnuck. Medium to full-bodied, with ripe, sweet tannins, classic Latour regalness, concentration, structure, and class, with just a hint of its normal youthful austerity.
100 Points, Lisa Perrotti-Brown, The Wine Independent. The medium to full-bodied palate is exquisitely constructed with a myriad of very fine layers, supported by ripe, grainy tannins and beautiful tension, finishing epically long and mineral-laced.
The 2014: The Classicist's Latour

The 2014 is the traditionalist's pick: a cooler, late-ripening season that produced a driven, energetic Latour built on graphite, cassis and structure. Now twelve years on and entering its drinking window, this is exactly the kind of vintage the château's release-when-ready policy was made for.
99 Points, James Suckling. A striking aromatic combination of violets, licorice, pencil, flowers and currants, followed by fresh mushroom nuances. Full-bodied but tightly compressed, the wine shows tremendous tension, exceptionally fine-grained tannins and energy.
97+ Points, William Kelley, Wine Advocate. One of the finest wines produced in a vintage particularly successful in the northern Médoc. Wild berries and cassis are joined by cigar wrapper, earth, black truffle and high-quality oak. The palate is full-bodied, rich and concentrated, with a deep, tightly wound center framed by chalky tannins and bright acidity. A modern-day version of the 1996.
97 Points, Wine Spectator. A driven, energetic Latour with mouthwatering acidity and a pronounced graphite character surrounding pure cassis and blackberry. Licorice and sweet tobacco emerge on the finish before the graphite returns and carries through the exceptionally long close.
