With vintage 2022, the label name changed from L'Incontournable to Grande Chaume. This always comes from five acres in the lieu-dit of Grande Chaume bordering the 1er cru of Les Fourneaux, facing south-southwest. Roughly one-third of this is raised in one to three-year-old Burgundy barrels, the rest in steel.

91 Points! The 2021 Chardonnay Willamette Valley has savory scents of honey, nuts, toasted meringue and spice accenting a core of peach and quince paste. The light-bodied palate offers understated fruit and a soft, satiny texture, and its focused acidity gives the finish an ethereal feel. From 40+ year-old vines in the Cru of Goulaine. Fermentation takes place over 27 days with native yeasts. Wine is aged 32 months on the lees before bottling. Nose of crystallized lemon and very ripe orange. The wine is round and supple on the palate with great minerality and a very long finish. 

Founded in 1200, the estate is now managed by Prince Felix zu Salm-Salm in the 32th generation. It is the oldest family-owned estate in Germany and cultivates vineyard sites on the Nahe region as well as in Rheinhessen. Bottle fermentation (Méthode champenoise) with 40 months on the lees.

The 2022 Roland Lavantureux Bourgogne Tonnerre Blanc is described as having a pale lemon color, with an attractive, restrained nose, and concentrated fruit. It exhibits good acidity, a saline finish, and a Chablis-like character with minerality and a touch of bitterness. The wine is also noted for its finesse, precision, and a long, impressive aftertaste.

This cuvée comes from the 2nd harvest of riper fruit selected at the end of September from their 10 acre estate. The riper grapes are harvested then vininfied in a dry, yet ample style. The sandstone terroir brings a density to the wine whilst preserving tension. 

98 Points! Blackberries, plums, currants, tobacco and violets on the nose. Bitter chocolate and mocha, too. It’s refined and focused, with a medium to full body and firm, tightly-knit tannins. 97 Points! Heady and expressive on the nose, seductive tones of ripe fruit and perfumed flowers. Gorgeous intensity on the palate, rich, round and ripe - gently chewy - but cool and refreshing too. This has a dynamic undercurrent with tannins that are fine but firm giving a slightly narrow frame. It’s a bit more serious than some, brooding, but clearly well made with definition. There’s a confidence here, vibrant and detailed fruit with an excellent lingering impression of the terroir in the slightly salty, chalky, graphite touch.
