Wild and floral, with notes of rose petal, tarragon, and spring meadow herbs, this 100% Monastrell from Jumilla’s Valle Estrecho shows bright grip and chalky tannins. Aged seven months in old concrete tanks from the 1960s, it’s textured, vibrant, and deeply rooted in the fruit character of Monastrell and the stony, calcareous soils. 97 Points! Starting with the 2021 Grenache Estate Blend, this blend of 70% Grenache, 15% Syrah, 11% Cinsault, and 4% Roussanne comes all from the Adams Ranch Vineyard and was aged 20 months in new and used mostly French oak. It has a deeper ruby/plum hue as well as a beautiful nose of ripe black raspberries, darker cherries, spicy herbs, sandalwood, and ground pepper. It's complex, medium to full-bodied, has a broad, layered, seamless mouthfeel, and an incredible finish. It's a brilliant Grenache that has so much to love. It will evolve like a great Châteauneuf du Pape and have 15 years or more of overall longevity. - Jeb Dunnuck

Once & Future proprietor Joel Peterson's homage to his very own 'Vintners Blend Cuvee' from his days at Ravenswood. Though I dare say this one has the volume turned way UP over those wines from the 1990's. Nowadays, this wine is a blend of Merlot, Petit Verdot and Cabernet from Bedrock Vineyard as well as old-vine Mourvedre from Del Barba's vines in Contra Costa and some inky Petite Sirah from Palisades Vineyard in Calistoga. That sound like a $20 wine to you? Yeah, me neither. As was the case with the old Vintner's Blend, this wine completely overdelivers for the money...

The 2022 Red Wine Life And Death is Grenache-dominated yet includes 22% Syrah, 13% each of Mourvèdre and Graciano, and 8.5% Petite Sirah, all of which was fermented with 25% whole clusters and brought up in 70% new oak. It offers a sensational perfume of black raspberry and black cherry fruits intermixed with camphor, lavender, white flowers, and peppery, almost garrigue-like nuances. With full-bodied richness, remarkable purity, and a massive, yet somehow elegant, seamless mouthfeel as well as incredible length, it's a masterpiece of a Rhône-like blend from California's Central Coast that could come from nowhere else. The fruit sourcing here is a mix of Bien Nacido, Stolpman, Alta Mesa, Sanger, and Rancho Boa Vista, and the marriage of richness, purity, and finesse is something to behold. Great value here from the famous Bedrock Vineyard (Shhh....)! From the winery: A punchy, spicy blend of zinfandel (80%), barbera (15%) and Alicante Bouschet (5%). The Zinfandel and Alicante were sourced from the Bedrock Vineyard in Sonoma. The fruit was from adjacent blocks so we picked both on the same day, co-fermenting them together. Traditionally this fruit has always been the base for our red table wine. We then blended in a few barrels of Barbera to level up the acidity and aromatics.

91 Points! The smart buy in the Ackerman lineup is the suave, polished 2018 Memoir Red Wine. A blend of 74% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% each Cabernet Franc and Merlot, and 6% each Malbec and Petit Verdot, it seamlessly marries cedary oak notes with cassis and dark chocolate flavors. Medium to full-bodied and less opulent and weighty than many of its Napa counterparts, it's still velvety-plush but also marked by ample freshness and length. - Joe Czerwinski, robertparker.com

From the winery: Encruzado (50%), Malvasia, Gouveio, Bical, Cercial, and others. Our white Field Blend 2021 was made from a single vineyard planted in 1993 in our Quinta do Laranjal. This vineyard is planted in the old style, with the grape varieties all mixed up. The proportion represent the intended final blend. A true Dão pearl! The grapes were manually picked and carefully selected. Ageing 7 months in stainless steel, rest in the bottle.

94 Points! The 2011 Reserva red is a field blend from old vines (with 80% of the grapes sourced from vines 80+ years old), plus 20% combined of Touriga Nacional and Touriga Franca from vines of approximately 20 years of average age. The blend was aged in French barriques (70% new) for 17 months. In one of Douro's biggest vintages, Vallado managed to produce a surprisingly elegant and nuanced wine. That was true the first and second time I saw this long ago. This has evolved well. It shows finesse and grace at this point. The big tannins have moderated, and the wine never seems as ripe or as jammy as the 2007. (That's a relative term—the 2007 isn't all that jammy as these things go.) Yet this is a prime-time wine with finesse, elegance and fine fruit, finishing with some understatement in flavor. Unlike the 2007, this isn't as likely today to hit you over the head or grab your attention, but it is completely seductive and perfectly balanced. The texture caresses the palate with velvet. The tannins are much riper. The fruit is still there and tasty but never too obvious. It will be interesting to see how this holds and how it evolves. Unlike the 2007 or even the 2008, this seems ready without a lot of concern over whether future aging will make it a lot better. - Mark Squires, robertparker.com

95 Points! Very complex aromas of blackcurrants and graphite as well as purple fruit. Just a touch of smoke. It’s medium- to full-bodied with round and polished tannins and a long and flavorful finish. This is really nicely put together. A blend of 53% merlot, 24% cabernet sauvignon and 23% cabernet franc. Made by master blender Ken Usami. Shinobu's Daimyo-no was created as a symbol of the samurai spirit, which aims for perfection with patience. Daimyo refers to powerful samurai who ruled over Japan from the 12th to 19th century. Carefully selected grain and malt whiskies are aged in several types of oak barrels and blended, resulting in a perfectly balanced and harmonious flavor with a rich aroma.

From the estate property around the new winery in Stags Leap, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate Moonracer (there are normally small amounts of Merlot and Cabernet Franc in the blend) offers a glorious Napa Cabernet nose of crème de cassis, lead pencil shavings, dried flowers, and chocolate that develops beautifully with time in the glass. It doesn't lose a beat on the palate either and is full-bodied, with a layered, focused texture, building structure, and a great, great finish. It's a serious, age-worthy wine that needs 4-5 years of bottle age yet will evolve like a First Growth from Bordeaux. - Jeb Dunnuck

92 Points! The 2020 ‘Machete’ is a proprietary blend of Petite Sirah, Syrah and Grenache that was stored in 34% new French oak for 14 months before bottling. A soft texture greets you as green peppercorns greet you alongside black currant jelly, cigar ash and dark chocolate shavings with kirsch cordial notes. Considering the vintage, this is a really good effort. - Owen Bargreen

Òran is, unashamedly, an old school blend - one recognizable to whisky lovers in the heyday of blended whisky some 100 years ago. Where the grain and malt contents are created separately but ultimately act as the perfect foil for the other. The 2008 Proprietary Red reflects a slightly cooler, more measured growing season, resulting in a wine that emphasizes balance and aromatic detail. As Scott Palazzo continued refining his Bordeaux-inspired approach, this vintage shows increasing elegance and structure. These magnums were produced in extremely limited quantities and reserved solely for private members, making this first public release a rare chance to acquire a beautifully evolved library wine.

Tasting Note:
Aromas of dried red cherry, currant, and violet are layered with hints of cedar and gentle spice. The palate is supple and refined, offering savory red fruit, polished tannins, and lively acidity. Earthy undertones and subtle oak influence add depth. The finish is smooth and persistent, with freshness and precision preserved by the magnum format.

On the palate: This unique Estate blend of 38% Pinot Gris, 35% Sauvignon Blanc and 27% Riesling incorporates notes of fresh passion fruit, crisp lime and wet concrete, putting the three varieties in harmony. The palate is lively fresh and fun, with passion fruit, citrus and more tropical tones. 

On the nose: Opens with aromas of anjou pear, white nectarines, and honeysuckle. A bouquet of spring flowers. 

A blend of whiskeys from Kentucky and Tennessee. Nuttiness pairs with jammy fruit on the nose in the form of peanut butter and jelly sandwich, blueberry pancake, and strawberry milkshake. The palate adds baking spice to the mix, with berries in syrup and cinnamon babka notes. Baking spice lingers on a satisfactory finish.
