98 Points! The 2020 les Clos from Monsieur Dauvissat is every bit as brilliant as the les Preuses. The nose soars from the glass in a blend of apple, pear, lime zest, a stunning base of flinty, chalky, wet stone minerality and oyster shell, vanillin oak and a topnote of fruit blossoms. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and shows off a gorgeous core of fruit, but the real beauty here is in the stunningly complex base of minerality, coupled with vibrant acids, impeccable focus and grip and a very, very long, dancing and seamlessly balanced finish. - John Gilman, View From The Cellar

92-94 Points! The 2021 Chablis Le Bas de Chapelot comes across quite closed on the nose, though Edouard Vocoret mentioned how this cuvée has closed down at the time of my visit. The palate is complex with touches of apricot and white peach, plenty of minerals and flint, focused with a long tail on the finish. The 2022 Roland Lavantureux Bourgogne Tonnerre Blanc is described as having a pale lemon color, with an attractive, restrained nose, and concentrated fruit. It exhibits good acidity, a saline finish, and a Chablis-like character with minerality and a touch of bitterness. The wine is also noted for its finesse, precision, and a long, impressive aftertaste. 

The 2022 Pernand Vergelesses Blanc Les Cloux has a crisp, flinty bouquet—strict and almost Chablis-like in style. The palate is well defined with a fine bead of acidity and flecks of quince and nectarine, perhaps tapering in slightly toward the finish. 95 Points! Last of the Chardonnays, the 2022 Chardonnay John Sebastiano Vineyard comes from a great vineyard on the eastern side of the appellation and was brought up in 28% new French oak. Ripe melon, salted citrus, crushed stone, and white flowers all define the aromatics, and this beauty hits the palate with medium to full-bodied richness, a pure, focused, chiseled mouthfeel, integrated acidity, and a great finish. The vines for Cuvée Juliette were planted in 1978 on the Côte de Grisey, on a steep southeast-facing slope (45% grade), shallow clay-limestone Kimmeridgian soil.

100% whole cluster, ambient yeast fermentation with pump-overs, aged for 12 months in barrels (30% new), SO2 added a few months before bottling, approx. 25-30 ppm total at bottling.

"With Reflection II, Whiskey Director Shaylyn Gammon is looking to continue the tradition while emphasizing a different layer of flavor notes than its predecessor. While Reflection I focused on the darker base notes like oak and caramel, Reflection II zeroes in on the brighter middle notes, including florals and sweetness. Reflection II also features older whiskey stocks than its predecessor, with Gammon seeking out barrels that clearly exhibited elevated mid-note flavors from Blue Run’s more than 5,000-barrel inventory."

The 2012 vintage marked a return to a warmer, more generous growing season in Napa Valley, producing wines with greater depth and approachability while still retaining balance. For Scott Palazzo, this vintage offered an opportunity to express Cabernet Franc with a touch more richness while staying true to his Right Bank inspired focus on structure and elegance. Sourced from Carneros and bottled in very limited quantities, these magnums were held exclusively for Palazzo’s private members until now. This release represents the first time these mature library magnums have been made available to the public, offering collectors a rare chance to experience a fully developed Napa Cabernet Franc in its most expressive format.

Tasting Note:
The wine opens with an inviting bouquet of violets, ripe raspberry, and red cherry, layered with hints of sweet spice and subtle earth. On the palate, the 2012 is generous and polished, showing supple red and dark berry fruit supported by vibrant acidity and finely resolved tannins. Savory undertones and gentle oak influence add dimension without overshadowing the fruit. The finish is long, smooth, and harmonious, with the magnum format preserving freshness and balance while allowing the wine’s richness to unfold gracefully.

Luigi talks about the Campi Flegrei terroir more than the varieties, but they are also doing genetic testing on the Falanghina. Falanghina Beneventana, from around Benevento, to the north-east of Naples is a completely different variety than Falanghina Flegrea from the Campi Flegrei (near Naples). At La Sibilla, they are growing Falanghina Flegrea, and this is a very distinctive example of how delicious Campanian white wines can be.

It delivers a crisp minerally character while also showing appealing aromas and flavors of citrus, flowers, and tarragon. This is an excellent seafood wine. I also drink it as a dry aperitif, with olives and salami, while deciding what to make for dinner. 

Sourced from 2.2 hectares in different vineyards in Serralunga d’Alba, at altitudes of 370-400m. The oldest vines date back to 1965, while the youngest were planted in 2006.
