Planted mostly in the 1940's, the mix of vineyards comes mostly from Douby, a zone on the north side of Morgon between the famous Côte de Py hill and Fleurie, and the lieu-dit, Courcelette, a parcel completely made of soft, coarse beach-like sands. Much of these vineyards are on softly sloping aspects ranging from southeast to southwest. There are rocky sections also, but generally the vineyards are sandy, leading to wines led by elegance and subtlety, but endowed with great length and complexity from their very old vines. The climate here is a warm by contrast to those further uphill.

From the importer: “Cuvée P’tit Co” comes from a 45-year-old parcel of Gamay situated at 265 meters altitude in soils of pebbly quartz. With its cool northeasterly exposition and lighter soils, this vineyard produces a charming, pretty wine of delicately articulated spice and gentle tannins. Anita employs whole-cluster semi-carbonic fermentation in cement for this cuvée, followed by six months of elevage, also in cement vats.

94 Points! I love the nose of violets and blueberries. The delicate spice notes make this really fascinating. A bold and structured wine, but only medium-bodied and with stacks of berry fruit wrapped around a firm core. Keeps pumping out the flavors in the long, emphatic finish. This enchanting wine boasts a lovely perfumed nose with hints of plummy fruit and floral notes on the initial attack, while the palate features an impressively sweet fruit character, a silky, very fine texture and rewarding length. Godard observed that her Moulin à Vent is normally the ‘ethereal’ one, but the Corcelette seems to have usurped that role in 2022.
