A blend of 11- and 12-year-old Maker's Mark

From Maker's Mark: Aging our whisky for over 10 years wasn't something we ever did. Not because we didn't believe in it but because we hadn't found our way of doing it. Maker’s Mark Cellar Aged defines an older whisky that’s distinctly Maker’s. By embracing both the unique impact that our warehouse and cellar maturation have on flavor, we've created an older expression that is richer and more complex whilst staying true to the founder's taste vision of bourbon without the bite.

Maker's Mark Cellar Aged 2024 is a limited-edition bourbon that represents the distillery's oldest release to date. This expression is a meticulous blend of 15% 12-year-old and 85% 13-year-old bourbons, aged to taste rather than time, and bottled at cask strength of 119.3 proof (59.7% ABV).

The aging process includes finishing maturation in Maker's Mark's LEED-certified limestone cellar, which allows the bourbon to develop a richer, deeper, and more complex flavor profile while avoiding the harsher tannic effects often found in older American whiskies.

Tasting notes for this release include aromas of caramelized sugar, zesty citrus, and toasted almond. The palate offers flavors of buttery shortbread, rich coconut, and bright spices, leading to a lingering, mouth-coating finish with dried dark fruit and subtle oak undertones.

Coode fermented the juice in tanks, with twice-daily pump-overs, and then aged the wine for 14 months in a combination of new and used French oak. - Wine Spectator

The Old Fashioned is the original cocktail. It’s as classic as it gets and, when done right, it’s the mark of a master. You want to taste the bourbon, followed by a hint of sweet orangey citrus and rounded out at the finish with the warming spice of bitters.

94 Points! The 2024 Malbec Terroir Uco Valley was made from grapes grown in Gualtallary and Paraje Altamira. Aged 90% in concrete and 10% in large barrels for 15 months, it offers a primary expression with notes of pennyroyal, violet and mountain herbs alongside red cherry fruit. 91 Points! The smart buy in the Ackerman lineup is the suave, polished 2018 Memoir Red Wine. A blend of 74% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% each Cabernet Franc and Merlot, and 6% each Malbec and Petit Verdot, it seamlessly marries cedary oak notes with cassis and dark chocolate flavors. 40% Trincadeira, 30% Aragonez, 20% Alicante Bouschet, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. Medium ruby colour. Good aromatic complexity with very fresh red and black fruit at the right point of ripeness, complemented by hints of spice, a slight vegetal flavour and some woodland. On the palate it has a well-balanced structure and volume, with very fine fruit, light and elegant tannins, marked freshness and present and well-integrated acidity, giving it grip and a vibrant and persistent finish.

93 Points! A light beautiful color of red marks the visual appeal of the 100% varietal 2022 Grenache, grown at high elevation on the producer’s estate around 2,400-feet. There’s a beautiful perfume to the wine, a combination of wild strawberry and lilac, accented in blood orange. Tobacco, white pepper, and garrigue play along the full-bodied palate that tastes more delicate than it is, the tannins smoothened into rounded submission. Located on the slope of the Roche de Solutré (one of two ancient reefs that dramatically mark the landscape of Vergisson), ‘En Buland’ faces northeast. Soils mix limestone and clay. Vines planted in 1934. Hand-harvested. Pressed full cluster; juice placed in
temperature-controlled tanks overnight to settle; transferred via gravity to French oak barrels to ferment on indigenous yeasts. Aged in barrel (20% new oak) for 12 months; after racking, the wine ages an additional three months in tank. Bottled unfined and unfiltered.

95 Points! The 2021 Dominio de Anza Selección de Parcelas goes back to the elegance, perfume and refinement of the wines from 2018 and 2019—floral and clean. It comes from multiple places in different villages, all vinified separately in a year he found to be marked by the rain during the harvest. This has very good freshness. 97 Points! The nose of this very beautiful Corton-Charlemagne transports me to an Alpine meadow, when all the wild flowers are blossoming. I love the restrained, citrusy richness that is effortlessly interwoven with the stony minerality on the medium- to full-bodied palate of this graceful, yet highly-structured wine. Still quite tight at the very salty finish, but so much to give. From a 3.65 hectare plot at the very top of the hill of Corton, directly below the forest with a yellow mark soil. 95 Points! This has a lovely core of fruit with aromas of nectarines, grilled lemons and flint. The midweight, textural palate shows balanced acidity, finishing with a slight phenolic grip. 94 Points! For fans of Chardonnay without malolactic fermentation, Shafer's 2024 Chardonnay Red Shoulder Ranch remains a standard-bearer. Ripe pineapple, pear and honeysuckle mark the nose, while the full-bodied palate is loaded with opulent mango fruit that's expansive and lush but brought back into focus on the crisp citrus-and-green-apple finish. - Joe Czerwinski, robertparker.com

François has two impressive plots in the renowned 1er Cru Les Vergers, one which was planted in 1987, and the other was planted in the 1950s. Both plots are located in the northwest corner of the Cru, totaling 0.46 ha, and border the 1er Cru sites of “Les Chaumées” and “Clos Saint-Jean.” Lequin’s Vergers is his most taut, vertical wine in the Premier Cru range; marked more by structure and acidity than fullness and creaminess. The Domaine Lequin Chassagne Montrachet 1er Cru Les Vergers 2023 was aged for 12 months in French oak (20% new) followed by 3 months in stainless steel to harmonize.

97 Points! Still remarkably dark, intense and youthful in appearance, this Mouton shows more flamboyant characters on the nose than other vintages, with spices, cigar-box and blackcurrant leaf all to the fore. Rich, dense and fleshy palate with plenty of stuffing for further ageing. An impressive Mouton which lives up to the ‘star’ billing for the 1995 vintage with nearly all of the components in great balance. The only question mark regards the firm, slightly drying tannins, which still need to fully integrate. I suspect they will, but the 1995 may not quite reach the height of the 1996. From the importer: An assemblage of the estate’s finest parcels, the single Côte-Rôtie cuvée produced at the Gérard domaine is sourced principally from the Mollard lieu-dit (65%) with the balance a mix of Font-Jean, Viallière, and La Landonne. At vinification, a significant portion is left whole clusters. This is a finer expression of the appellation than many of its counterparts along the slope, with a purity of fruit and finesse to the tannins. Although its profile is marked by a regal elegance that makes this wine seductively drinkable in its youth, older examples offer strong testimony that the Côte-Rôtie from Domaine Gérard has the capacity to provide a pure and tenacious expression of this noble terroir for decades in the bottle.
