From the importer: The domaine’s top red wine is the cuvée Charles de Batz, which was the original name of d'Artignan. The wine is composed of 90% Tannat with 10% Cabernet Sauvignon from vines that are between 50 and 100 years old. After being completely destemmed, the Cabernet and Tannat are fermented separately in cement tanks. During this time, a bit of micro-oxygenation or microboullage takes place. The wine then goes into oak (50% new) in an underground cellar where it also undergoes malolactic fermentation. After 12 months in wood, it is blended and bottled after a very light filtration.

Very ripe, rich Madiran that takes no prisoners. This wine succeeds in obtaining more fruit than tannin! The color is nearly opaque—wine doesn't get much darker than this. It displays notes of black fruit (blackcurrant and blackberry) along with just a hint of red fruit. There is a cedar-like creaminess to the oak which is extremely well-integrated. Tannins pick up on the finish but, let's face it, this is Madiran and that is to be expected. These tannins seem to dissolve when the wine is matched with richly flavored meats like leg of lamb, duck, goose or game.

The Meyer’s whisky is a mash of wheat and malted barley from the Champagne region and malted barley. The phase of malting the barley is entrusted to La Malterie du Château in Belgium, one of the oldest malteries in the world. Then the wheat and malted barley mash is brewed at an Alsatian brewer, Brasserie Saverne, who practices this technique for beer.

The distillation process is typical of the Highland scotch whiskeys: double distillation and made in distillery copper stills, at the Meyer’s Distillery. This blend superior is aged for a minimum of 7 years in former Sauternes cask from one of Bordeaux’s top estates, Château Doisy Daene.

Notes include apricot marmalade, orange blossom honey, kumquat, vanilla custard, white pepper, roasted almond and a thread of smoke. The palate is seamless and supple and just as inviting as the effusive aromas.

Made by master blender Ken Usami. Shinobu's Daimyo-no was created as a symbol of the samurai spirit, which aims for perfection with patience. Daimyo refers to powerful samurai who ruled over Japan from the 12th to 19th century. We recently had a private client come to us with an extremely rare opportunity. This client had amassed a reasonable volume of a particular wine that no one except a select few get to taste or buy.

It is an exclusive club. Membership is invitation only and to become a member involves a six-figure membership fee. Once you’re a member you gain access to creating wine in your own vision, becoming as intimately familiar with the winemaking and grape growing process as you’d like. The wine is your creation, sourced from Bill’s vineyard right next to the Meadowood Country Club. You can work with the estate's blending grapes (using "super blends" provided by the winemaking team) to craft and customize your own barrels.

Members can produce anywhere from 12 to 75 cases, and they choose their own blends, aging times, and sometimes even have the wine bottled under their own personal family label rather than a generic estate name.
