Bottled exclusively for Wine Exchange! This cask bottling, distilled in April 2007, spent 14 years aging in bourbon barrel. It was bottled at cask strength in July of 2021 at 55.2% ABV. Cask #3 yielded 212 bottles. This is the first publicly available blended scotch whisky from Single Cask Nation. 

A Blend of single malt and single grain whisky, this bottling represents mulitple regions and styles in a single bottle. Expertly distilled and produced in conjunction with Burn Stewart Distillers. Notes of Toffee, Caramel, Roasted Nuts, Mineral-Rich Soil, Spiced Apples, Golden Raisins and Sweet Oak. 

Kujira Ryukyu Whisky 10 years was distilled from 100% premium Indica rice, and matured in White Oak Virgin casks for more than 10 years. Masahiro Distillery was founded in 1883, its history could trace back to Ryukyu Kingdom era. Masahiro Distillery is known for its production techniques, prominent qualities, and passion for innovation.

The Cask Strength Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey is an exclusive HIRSCH release finished in 30-Year-Old Hine Cognac XO barrels, in Bardstown, Kentucky. It’s rich, complex, and a well-rounded whiskey. This expression was brought from a collaboration between HIRSCH Selected Whiskeys and Hine Cognac.

54 barrels of Hirsch's 6-year-old bourbon were selected to finish in 30-year-old XO Hine Cognac casks for 18 months, adding subtle yet noticeable character of Cognac to our bourbon. This unique expression has a mash bill of 72% corn, 13% rye, 15% malted barley. On the nose, it offers notes of dusty cherry and charred citrus with a palate of over ripe stone fruit, fresh raisin, soft heat, and finishes dry yet flavors continue to develop.

We borrowed and twisted many of these techniques to produce Doc’s Alter Ego Bourbon. Our goal was to take good whiskies, blend them together and see how we could enhance these blends as well as maintain the flavor of the whiskey itself. After years of finishing whiskies in a variety of casks, we believe we have struck success using Olorosso Sherry, Pedro Ximenez Sherry, and Cognac casks from a number of curated producers.

Whether accentuating or layering in characteristics, we believe these techniques enhance the spirit and still focuses on the bourbon. These casks allow the delicate characteristics of past occupants to mingle and marry with the smooth yet bold aspects of Doc’s Straight Bourbons. Each release is then meticulously blended and married in ex-Cognac Foeders prior to bottling. Our finishing and blending techniques impart a dry nuttiness, subtle sweetness, and an extended finish to an already great whiskey, while still allowing the bourbon to shine.

 Only 2 casks of this special Scotch were produced!

Our Winex exclusive cask was aged for 8 years, spending just over 7 years in ex-Buffalo Trace Bourbon barrels and then transferred into fresh Sandeman Ruby Port Casks for 6 months. At 55.9% ABV we recommend just a splash of water. The nose is complex and layered with cocoa powder, stewed cherries and biscuit peeking through the distinctive peat. The peat from Kilchoman has always stood out in my mind because it lacks any medicinal or burnt rubber qualities that turn many off to a peated scotch. On the palate it opens up with a hint of sweetness from the port cask. Flavors of baked cherry tart, citrus marmalade, toffee and dusty cocoa are wrapped cozily with the smokiness of the peat which warms the senses with pipe tobacco, smoldering earth and crushed seashell notes. The finish is long and cascading with a full and satisfyingly round mouthfeel.

From the Distillery: Our very first bottling of The GlenAllachie 10 Year Old Cask Strength happened by chance. In 2017, whilst reviewing parcels of stock from 2007 and 2008, our Master Distiller Billy Walker was so delighted by the balance and depth of the samples that he immediately decided to add a younger expression to our core range.

The GlenAllachie Cask Strength Batch 7 is a combination of Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso sherry puncheons along with a small quantity of Virgin Oak and Rioja casks. The resulting whisky bursts with indulgent notes of of ripe plums, dark chocolate and sticky raisins, all coupled with classic GlenAllachie honeyed charm.

Batch 7 is bottled at 56.8%, non chill filtered and natural colour.

The Macallan 1952 – Bottled 2002 (Cask No. 1250)

Distilled in 1952 and bottled in 2002, this extraordinary release from The Macallan represents a rare surviving cask from one of the most revered eras in Scotch whisky history. Matured for half a century and drawn from Cask No. 1250, it stands as a testament to Macallan’s traditional production methods and long-standing commitment to exceptional oak maturation.

Produced at Easter Elchies during the post-war period, decades before modern expansion and luxury repositioning, this whisky reflects a time when Macallan’s identity was defined by small-scale production, long fermentations, and a deeply textural spirit. While the cask type is not specified, the bottling is entirely consistent with Macallan’s classic sherry-led maturation style of the era.

Officially bottled by hand by The Macallan Distillers Ltd, this 1952 vintage is exceptionally scarce and highly sought after by collectors worldwide. Bottlings of this age and provenance are now seldom seen outside of major auctions, making this a remarkable opportunity to acquire a true piece of Macallan history.

The not so new any longer Ardnamurchan distillery is shaping up to be one of Scotland's most exciting. Every single bottling takes ratchets up the quality to new heights. This extremely delicious 100% Sherry Cask Aged release was drawn from 10 peated sherry butts and 15 unpeated sherry hogsheads aged entirely in Ardnamurchan's warehouses on the rugged western coast of Scotland. The resulting whisky is complex and delicious offering quality that few modern distillers can match. Expect a beautifully balanced bonfire smoke melding with dense nutty sherry. We rarely see such special whisky available, but only 2000 bottles for the entire US, it surely won't be for long.

For nearly a decade, we have traded our freshly-emptied barrels with some of our brewing collaborators. They have in turn “seasoned” them with Stout before returning them. Stout Cask pushes the boundaries of flavor. It begins with Westward Whiskey Original and is then aged for one year in Stout casks.

Funky Drummer is Doc Swinson’s blend of two five-year rye whiskeys that have had a long break in some seriously funky Jamaican rum casks (look up dunder pits if you want some fun info!). These casks are full of tropical fruit flavors that marry nicely with the heavy rye spice.
