Groth is hot!
It’s one of the grand, hallmark names in Napa Valley wine. Its reputation precedes itself. In the 1985 vintage, Dennis Groth and winemaker Nils Venge crafted the first 100 point wine in California history with their historic 1985 Groth Reserve. To this day that wine remains an intensely collectible bottle. Who doesn’t like drinking history?

Another Bastille Day Deal: Save 33% on this 2016 Côtes du Rhône!
A little over a year ago we wrote about the Ferraton Cotes du Rhone Samorens 2016. It was a casual blurb about this well made, user friendly Cotes du Rhone during a time when there were still a number of choices on the marketplace from the outstanding 2016 vintage. A lot has changed in the world since then. -
Crazy Alexander Valley Hillside Cabernet Deal, Only $11.98!
We have been saying for some time that there has been a lot of smoke and mirrors in the Napa Valley regarding how much wine is actually selling at the current high price levels. We even had the temerity to suggest that we expected to start seeing juice appearing in all kinds of relatively new ’bargain’ labels coming to -
Over 50% Off this 95pt Westside Paso Red Blend!
One of the few ‘observations’ that we get from customers who travel through our retail showroom’s pearly gates is that we don’t have enough ‘Paso’ wine on the floor. -
Tough Call for Benjamin: Grab the Juice from Romeo's $250 Contador for only $19.98!
Deja Vu all over again. We originally sold this wine back in 2016 since the story (and the wine) were both too good. Fast forward four years and we’ve been given the chance to sell another slug of this brilliant Rioja, now with extended bottle age, at a HUGE discount! -
Dynamic Duo from Montalcino: 93pt Rosso & 95pt Brunello from Caparzo!
This is really great to see. Since its inception in the 1960’s, Caparzo has slowly, gradually, purposefully been building their quality. Vineyards get older, winemakers get smarter, the land slowly begins to unveil its secrets as the varying harvests create new situations that need to be addressed or admired. -
Cool Wine Alert: This 97pt Wine Advocate Old-Vine Carignan Is only $39.98!
We’ve encountered almost nothing like the current winegrowing revolution we’re seeing in Chile. I mean, think about it, until just a few years ago, Chile was pretty much known for green-yet-acceptable Cabernets that were solid, if underwhelming. Yet, the prices were so cheap, there’s no way in heck the wines could be ignored. Seriously, they weren’t bad, and the -
Last 10 Cases! Save $20 a bottle on This Double 93pt 2015 St. Emilion
Down to our last 10 cases of this one…a great deal on a top-notch St. Emilion shepherded by the house of Moueix. We’ve sold a ton and this is the end of the line… -
Two Terrific High-Scoring Chablis Values from Domaine Pinson!
There are only so many certainties in life. One of them is that no Chardonnay in the world tastes like Chablis. The link between ‘place’ and ‘taste’ is demonstrated here like few spots in the wine world. This limestone-based soil, layered with fossils of ancient aquatic life left when the sea receded from this part of France, -
Wine Spectator 94pt 2016 Barbaresco at Over 33% Off!
We talk a lot about relativity around here as it is a constant theme in so many aspects of the wine business. Unlike, say, physics, where a particular value can be arrived at via mathematical formula, wine is inherently subjective. Sure, there are ‘numbers’ like alcohol, ph, and TA that can be specifically quantified. But by and
