Beychevelle Saint Julien 2000
92 Points! Wonderful floral and blackberry aromas follow through to a compressed palate of full-bodied tannins and ripe fruit. Yet very fine and silky on the palate. Best Beychevelle in years. - Wine Spectator
91 Points! Deep ruby/purple in color, with a sweet nose of black currants, earth, licorice, and mineral, the 2000 is relatively powerful and dense for the normally restrained and elegant Beychevelle. Medium to full-bodied, dense, and chewy. While it appears to be the finest example made at Beychevelle since the 1989 and 1982, patience will be required. - Robert Parker, Wine Advocate
A 4th Growth (Quatrième Cru Classé) of the 1855 Classification, Château Beychevelle sits on the Gironde estuary in Saint-Julien, long considered a benchmark of elegance and finesse in the Médoc. The 2000 vintage — widely regarded as one of Bordeaux's finest modern vintages — produced a deep, structured wine with layers of blackcurrant, blackberry, licorice, tobacco, and cedar, framed by fine, ripe tannins and great aging potential. Only 2,200 cases were produced.
Blend: Approximately 54% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, 6% Petit Verdot (historical estate blend ratio)
Appellation: Saint-Julien, Bordeaux, France
