A compelling example of this noble terroir in the northeastern sector of Napa Valley, the 2001 Cabernet Sauvignon Eisele Vineyard still has a dense purple color and possesses a seamless personality with spectacular notes of licorice, incense, black raspberries, black currants, crushed rock, and spring flowers. Availability: Low Availability
91 Points!  Undeniably ripe and fleshy, with a pretty scent of cedary oak leading to a supple core of currant and red cherry flavors that are fine and persistent on the finish. Needs time to shed its fine-grained tannins. The flavors are long and persistent on the finish, though it shows simpler than it did from barrel. Drink now through  ...read more

Certan Marzelle Pomerol 2001
WA

Availability: Low Availability
92 Points!  Certan-Marzelle, Christian Moueix’s garage operation, is a 1,000 case, 100% Merlot produced from a plot of vines carved out of the original vineyard, Certan-Giraud. The old vine production is made separately, and sold under the name Hosanna. The 2001 Certan-Marzelle is performing even better out of bottle than it did fro ...read more

Chateau Malescasse Haut-Medoc 2001
Availability: In Stock
We love surprises! And there was no bigger surprise from our last trip to Bordeaux than this lovely, nuanced, classy bottle of wine from perennial underachiever, Chateau Malescasse. For some reason, the stars aligned with this 2001, providing a vibrant yet mature mouthful of Cabernet-based Claret that, since Malescasse hasn't been lighting it up with the pundits, came available at a very fair price. Actually, it's a silly price considering the quality.  As we like to say, "buy the wine, don't buy the score..."

93 Points!  Having tasted the Doisy-Vedrines 2001 on numerous occasions, I was expecting great things. Here under blind conditions – it delivered. J. Rochioli Pinot Noir West Block Russian River Valley 2001
WA

Availability: Low Availability
93 Points!  Raspberries, cherries, smoke, flint, and subtle wood emerge from the stunning aromatics of the 2001 Pinot Noir West Block Vineyard. Sweet, dense, and rich, but firmly structured, with substantial size, it will benefit from 1-2 years of cellaring, and will keep for a decade.  Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate #150, December 2003

92+ Points!  Medium red-ruby. Pretty, nuanced nose combines raspberry, red cherry, flowers, earth and mint. At once dense and juicy, with lively raspberry and floral flavors complemented but not dominated by spicy oak. This should develop more complexity with bottle aging, but it's already captivating today thanks to its sappy freshne ...read more
