93 Points! The 2017 Dolcetto d'Alba Coste & Fossati is a wine of extraordinary and arresting beauty. Intense and yet also remarkably delineated, the Coste & Fossati is a terrific example of the heights Dolcetto can reach in skilled hands. Readers will find a gorgeous, beautifully layered wine endowed with tremendous energy and focus. Dark plum, graphite, smoke, menthol and licorice all build in this super-expressive and nuanced wine from Vajra. I loved it. - Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media Learn More

  6. Giuseppe Mascarello Barbera D'Alba Scudetto 2015
    WA92
    $37.98
    Availability:In Stock
92 Points! Since the 2014 vintage, this wine is no longer labeled as Superiore. The 2015 Barbera d'Alba Scudetto had just been bottled when I tasted my sample, but the sheer richness and exuberance of the fruit was nevertheless on full display. Barbera performed very nicely in this warm vintage, delivering opulent and generous black fruit aromas. This Barbera is rich in volume and texture as well. This wine, along with the Langhe Freisa Toetto and Langhe Nebbiolo, was released in late May 2018. - Monica Larner, Wine Advocate

  7. Elio Grasso Dolcetto d'Alba Dei Grassi 2017
    $16.98
    Availability:In Stock
Gianluca Grasso tells me he became as strict as an Italian police man, a Carabinieri, when it came to leaf pulling in 2017. Vines needed as much shade as they could get in this scorching hot vintage, so he did not allow for any leaves to be thinned. Fruit for the 2017 Dolcetto d'Alba dei Grassi matured rigorously in the shade during the whole summer season. For Gianluca, this was the key to maintaining fruity intensity and freshness in this difficult vintage. Indeed, this wine is void of the jammy sensations of fruit confit and marmalade that you might expect given the record heat. - Monica Larner, robertparker.com

  8. Anna Maria Abbona Dogliani Sori dij But 2016
    $14.98
    Availability:In Stock
Importer notes: 'Sori' is Piedmontese dialect for the sunny south face of a hill. 'But' or Butti is the name of the hamlet where Anna Maria and her husband Franco's house and cellar are, a stunning spot in a very beautiful area. This is classic Dogliani Dolcetto, fermented and aged in stainless steel. It shows great color, reddish purple and violet-tinged, aromas of blueberries and tealeaf, and some tea tannins to go with the abundant fruit on the palate. Dolcetto is one of the best table wines I know; so grill some lambchops, pour everyone a glass, and all will be right with the world. Learn More

  10. Giovanni Manzone Dolcetto d'Alba Le Ciliegie 2016
    $14.98
    Availability:In Stock

The 2016 Dolcetto d'Alba Le Ciliegie takes its cue from its name: "ciliegie" are cherries in Italian. That is indeed the main aromatic component of this easy-drinking wine. Cherry liqueur or candied cherries lead to darker tones of prune and plum. Pair this wine with crispy fried chicken. - Monica Larner, robertparker.com

  11. San Fereolo Valdiba Dogliani 2015
    $19.98
    Availability:In Stock
Importer notes: A youthful expression of the Dogliani DOCG, the “Valdibà” is made all in steel cuve, which shows in the fresh brightness of the wine. Nicoletta considers this to be classical Dolcetto, striking all of the notes one would expect from the variety, with a confident tannic backbone. Learn More
  12. Poderi Colla Dolcetto d'Alba Balbo 2015
    VM90
    $18.98
    Availability:In Stock
90 Points! The 2015 Dolcetto d'Alba Pian Balbo is a striking, mid-weight wine to drink now and over the next few years. Expressive dark blue and purplish hued stone fruits, lavender, mint and spice notes abound, but it is the wine's silkiness and overall finesse that truly stand out. This is very nicely done. - Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media

  13. San Fereolo Dogliani 2008

The oldest Dolcetto vines were planted in 1936, while the youngest date back to 1978. The finest sources are destined for the flagship “San Fereolo” cuvée...An elevage of 3 years in large barrel precedes 3 to 4 years in bottle prior to release, thus the wines are not released for a full 8 years after harvest.
