  1. Giraud Chateauneuf du Pape Tradition 2016 WS Top 100 2018 #31
    WS95
    JD95
    $39.98
    Availability:In Stock
95 Points! Moving to the reds, the base 2016 Châteauneuf-du-Pape is a blockbuster, and this is one of those cases where you have to wonder if it’s worth the cost of the special cuvées when this wine is so good. Maire describes the 2016 vintage as a mix of the 2010 and 2007 vintages, and I can’t disagree. This beautiful 2016 offers a terrific nose of black raspberries, garrigue, and peppered meat in a full-bodied, ripe, incredibly sexy, seamless style. It has a boatload of tannins, and despite its intensity and richness, is still elegant and seamless. Buy a case of this, trust me. - Jeb Dunnuck, jebdunnuck.com Learn More
  2. Birichino Grenache Besson Vineyard Vignes Centenaires 2017
    $19.98
    Availability:In Stock
109-year-old vines in Santa Clara Valley, just east of the eastern edge of Santa Cruz Mountains. The guys really seem to have fun making these wines. This one gets about 10% dried, and then a long maceration. Pale rose red. Perfumed and delicate with real lift and more than a hint of Gredos Garnacha. Transparent in every way with quite a bit of structure hiding underneath the perfume. Good fruity core. Long. A real success!" - Jancis Robinson MW Learn More
  3. Sine Qua Non Grenache Dirt Vernacular 2016
    JD100
    WA96
    $299.98
    Availability:In Stock
100 Points! One of the finest Grenaches to ever pass my lips is the 2016 Grenache Dirt Vernacular and it’s 78% Grenache, 11.5% Mourvèdre, 7% Touriga Nacional, and the rest Petite Sirah. Reminding me of an old vine Grenache cuvée from the Maurel brothers in Châteauneuf du Pape, it boasts a huge nose of black raspberries, kirsch liqueur, graphite, ground herbs, and pepper. This is one of those wines that offers incredible intensity and depth, yet still just glides over the palate with no sense of heaviness whatsoever. Full-bodied, rich, layered, and pure, it’s a riveting example of Grenache that could come from nowhere else. Drink it any time over the coming 15+ years. - Jeb Dunnuck, jebdunnuck.com Learn More
  4. Domaine du Gour de Chaule Gigondas 2016
    VM93-95
    $29.98

Vivid ruby. A highly perfumed, expressive bouquet evokes ripe red berries, exotic spices and potpourri, and a smoky mineral nuance adds lift and urgency. Sweet and expansive on the palate, offering concentrated raspberry liqueur, spicecake and lavender pastille flavors that spread out steadily with air. Blends power and finesse with a sure hand and finishes extremely long and smooth, with fine-grained tannins making a late appearance. - Josh Raynolds, Vinous Media Learn More
  5. Familia Nin-Ortiz Priorat Nit de Nin La Coma d’en Romeu 2016
    JD94
    $79.98
    Availability:In Stock
The 2016 Nit De Nin La Coma D'En Romeu is another perfumed red from this estate, yet it takes the exotic level up a notch. Wild strawberries, pomegranate, blood orange, and crush violet notes all define the bouquet, and it’s medium to full-bodied, concentrated, and layered on the palate. While it’s a beautiful wine, it has a certain wildness that makes me think it’s best enjoyed over the coming 7-8 years. This cuvée is all Garnacha from a higher elevation vineyard and spent 17 months in once-used 600-liter barrels. - Jeb Dunnuck, jebdunnuck.com Learn More

    WA94
    $74.98

Despite the new oak, it stays firmly planted in the southern Rhône and is a rich, opulent, gorgeously layered wine. 95 Points!  Coming primarily from a two hectare plot of 80-100+ year-old vines, the 2009 Domaine Gilles Troullier Vin de Pays des Côtes Catalanes L'esprit du temps is an awesome wine! Made from 100% Grenache and aged 12 months in older demi-muids, its inky purple color is followed by a full-bodied, decadent wine that’s loaded with notions of black cherries, new saddle leather, licorice, and copious spice and spice-box like aromas. Incredibly pure and fresh on the palate, with superb underlying structure and a great finish, this blockbuster effort needs another year or three in the cellar, and will thrill for 12-15 years. It’s a seriously good bottle of wine and readers need to get on this producer’s bandwagon. - Jeb Dunnuck, Rhone Report

96-98 Points!  The 2016 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Lieu dit Pignan is mostly Grenache (there’s 25% Mourvèdre) sourced from one of the great terroirs in the appellation. It is scheduled to be bottled in August of this year. This inky colored beauty gives up a primordial bouquet of blueberries, cassis, violets, lavender, and honeysuckle. Deep, full-bodied, and incredibly pure, with a mountain of baby fat, this awesome effort is going to take 5-7 years to shed some fruit and show nuance, but it's a brilliant effort. - Jeb Dunnuck
