93 Points! The 2015 Roda is a blend with more Garnacha, up to 8% (from 3% in 2014), and the Graciano epresents 6%, which complements the 86% Tempranillo. All of these wines ferment with indigenous yeasts, and this 2015 matured in French oak barrels for 14 months, 40% of the barrels new and the rest second use. It has great balance and a juicy palate, with fine tannins and a pleasant mouthfeel. A very good Roda. - Luis Gutierrez, robertparker.com Learn More

  5. Familia Nin-Ortiz Priorat Planetes de Nin 2013
    WA93+
    VM92
    $39.98
    Availability:In Stock
93+ Points! The 2013 Planetes de Nin is mostly Garnacha with some 35% Cariñena from a vineyard in Porrera that names the wine. The Cariñena was harvested at the end of August, and the Garnacha after the 20th of September. The wine matured in 2,850-liter oak foudres and 3,200-liter amphorae for some 16 months. I first tasted it one month after bottling and it was very closed because of the operation. I had the feeling that it was a superb vintage and wanted to give the wines a chance, so I waited until now to give it time to rest and breathe. Well, that reductive character has disappeared. Furthermore, they think they have found the cause for that reductive character in the wine--there was a deficiency in the soil of the Garnacha that they have fixed with a natural compost and the results are good. Anyway, back to the wine, this 2103 is superb indeed. The wine has also gained in depth and feels more Porrera, more austere. In this vintage they started with some full clusters (which in 2014 was increased to 100%) and the result shows in a "sensation" of freshness rather than in analytical data. The palate shows incredibly fine and elegant, refined with sleek tannins. - Luis Gutierrez, robertparker.com Learn More
  6. Forjas del Salnes Muti Albariño 2017

93+ Points! There is a change in the 2017 Muti from previous vintages, as this is only produced with grapes from one vineyard in the village of Meis, an old vineyard . It's very aromatic and floral, expressive and elegant and has a superb palate with intense granite texture, very tasty. It's clean, varietal and long. Really impressive. 1,500 bottles produced. - Luis Gutierrez, robertparker.com Learn More

    WS92
    JS93
    VM93
    $27.98

93 Points!  Limpid straw-yellow. Powerful pear, nectarine and melon qualities on the highly perfumed nose, which is complemented by smoky mineral, jasmine and ginger nuances. Sappy, mineral-laced orchard and pit fruit stain the palate and become spicier as the wine stretches out. Rich, yet nervy in style, finishing very long and energetic, with resonating florality and a lingering mineral flourish.

  10. Descendientes de J. Palacios Petalos Bierzo 2017
    WA93
    $17.98
    Availability:Out of Stock
93 Points!  2017 was a very unusual year in Bierzo, and here they started harvesting the 21st of August, when they had never started harvesting in August. There are more white grapes in the 2017 Pétalos del Bierzo, almost 10%, not because they wanted to lower the alcohol, because the alcohol was similar to 2016, but because the white grapes achieved perfect ripeness (Ricardo Pérez Palacios told me he's never seen such beautiful white grapes). The wine had been bottled the day before I tasted it, so they also showed me a tank and a barrel sample they had saved for the purpose of comparison. However, the bottled wine, the first produced at their new facilities, was really singing and didn't show any fatigue. The palate was vibrant, with acid strawberry flavors. - Luis Gutierrez, robertparker.com

  12. Dominio De Bibei Ribeira Sacra Lalama 2013
    WA93
    $24.98
    Availability:In Stock
93 Points!  A champion in quality-to-price ratio, the red 2013 Lalama wants to replicate the traditional wine produced as a field blend that is mostly Mencía with some 10% a myriad other varieties—Brancellao, Mouratón, Sousón and Garnacha Tintorera—from many different vineyards on different soils, altitudes and expositions. The destemmed and crushed grapes fermented in 2,500-, 3,500 and 4,500-liter oak vats with indigenous yeasts followed by malolactic in 300-liter barriques where it was kept for 13 months followed by a further seven months in oak vat. It has an explosive and captivating nose, an explosion of wild berries and herbs, with just a creamy touch and some spices. It's redolent of acid berries, with an electric-like sensation in the palate revealing great freshness, focused flavors, very fine tannins and a clean, long and refreshing finish. This is plain delicious, the best Lalama I remember...This combines quality, price and availability from a region where wines tend to be produced in small quantities. It's approachable and ready but should be long lived. - Luis Gutierrez, robertparker.com

    DEC93
    WA93
    $17.98

93 Points!  The clean, floral and 2017 Ultreia Saint Jacques comes mostly from old vineyards from different soils in Valtuille and Villadecanes fermented in stainless steel and oak vats with part of full clusters and matured in used barriques for one year. It's produced in a fresh and very drinkable way. This is one of the best values from Bierzo and Spain, and a great introduction to Bierzo. It's a more serious wine than what the wine was when it was first produced, fresh and elegant. It's very reliable and a great value. - Luis Gutierrez, robertparker.com

  15. Bodegas Ordonez Triton Tinta de Toro 2016
    JD93
    JS92
    $16.98
    Availability:In Stock
93 Points!  The larger production cuvée from Ordonez, the 2016 Tinta de Toro Tritón (100% Tinta de Toro) comes all from very old, ungrafted vineyards and was brought up mostly in used barrels. This beautifully sexy red boasts smoking good notes of ripe plums, black cherries, liquid violets, and loads of scrub brush and dried earth. Full-bodied and silky on the palate, with fine, fine tannin, it has remarkable purity, no hard edges, and enough structure to warrant another year in bottle. It’s a seriously impressive wine. - Jeb Dunnuck

  16. Dominio del Aguila Picaro Ribera del Duero Vinas Viejas 2016
    WA93
    $27.98
    Availability:In Stock
93+ Points!  The youngest of the released wines I tasted is a red—the 2016 Pícaro del Águila Tinto. It is from what they consider to be one of the best and freshest vintages in recent times. This is produced with the vines from the warmer parts of La Aguilera, a cold place to start with (and in a cooler year). The old vines are planted with a mix that is dominated by Tempranillo but also contains some 5% other grapes. All the grapes are picked and fermented together with full clusters and natural yeasts in concrete and stainless steel vats. It matured in oak barrels for 13 months. This is fragrant, expressive, open, aromatic and really attractive. The palate is really balanced, with great freshness, fine tannins and a very pleasant mouthfeel—supple, balanced and with great depth. This is the best version of this bottling so far, and it seems like 2016 could be a great overall vintage, based on some other wines I sampled from cask (many of them have an extended élevage). - Luis Gutierrez, robertparker.com

  17. Comando G La Bruja De Rozas Garnacha 2016
    WA93
    $23.98
    Availability:In Stock
93 Points!  The first wine to be released from what is surely their finest vintage to date was the 2016 La Bruja de Rozas, a blend from different plots in the village of Las Rozas de Puerto Real in the province of Madrid. I first had it at a restaurant and was simply blown away and ran to buy a few cases for my cellar. This is ethereal, weightless but powerful, intense, transparent, with beautiful aromatics and a silky texture, with the grainy minerality of the granite soils. It's long, pure, available and affordable. It has to be one of the best value wines found in Spain today. Drinkable, in fact, gulpable today, but with the potential to develop in bottle. Bravo, bravo and bravo! - Luis Gutierrez, robertparker.com

  18. Pingus Ribera del Duero Flor de Pingus 2016
    JS96
    WA93-95
    $89.98
    Availability:In Stock
93-95 Points! The paradox of 2016 is that it was a warm year, but the resulting wines have great freshness, which also happened in 1996 (one of my favorite old vintages of Pingus). The yields were higher, which brought more freshness to the wines; and the wines are airier and not as compact as, for example, 2015. In fact, what they have been doing for some time now is to work in viticulture—the pruning and what you do with the canopy—to achieve slightly higher yields and get the plants to balance, because as you increase the yields, the ripening takes longer. Even though it's young, this shows amazing perfume that should bloom with a year in bottle. This has all the signals to become one of the greatest vintages of Flor de Pingus. - Luis Gutierrez, Wine Advocate

93 Points! The red 2016 Dido has the ripeness and depth of the 2015 but with extra freshness that makes it go an extra mile in length. It has the complex mix of grapes, mostly Garnacha with Syrah and perhaps 10% of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, and the different soils, as it comes from different vineyards in different parts of the appellation.  - Luis Gutierrez, Wine Advocate

  20. Lopez de Heredia Rioja Vina Cubillo Crianza 2009
    JS93
    WA92
    $24.98
    Availability:In Stock
92 Points! 2009 was a warm and ripe year, and this blend of Tempranillo, 20% Garnacha (or the masculine Garnacho they like to use) plus 5% each Graciano and Mazuelo from limestone soils with quite a lot of clay, feels juicy and soft. It fermented with natural yeasts in large oak vats and matured in used barriques for three years. This is a bottling that has grown and improved a lot since 2004-2005. It shows very good balance between fruit and more developed aromas, with hints of leather and cherries, spices and smoke, very clean and with good volume in the palate. It's usually a little riper and with higher alcohol than Tondonia or Bosconia, with the character, finesse and elegance of a classical Reserva. - Luis Gutierrez, Wine Advocate
