    DEC90
    VM90
    $10.98
    Availability:In Stock
90 Points! Light, bright straw color. Ripe lemon and yellow apple aromas are complemented by suggestions of buttered toast and fennel. Dry and chewy on the palate, offering fresh orchard/citrus fruit flavors that deepen and take on a floral quality as the wine opens up. Nicely concentrated but light on its feet, showing sharp delineation on a long, subtly smoky finish. - Josh Raynolds, Vinous Media Learn More
  2. Montebuena Rioja Cuvee KPF 2016
    VM91
    $12.98
    Availability:In Stock
91 Points! Vivid ruby-red. Sexy, oak-tinged red berry and floral pastille scents pick up vanilla and licorice flourishes with aeration. Juicy and focused on the palate, offering sweet black raspberry and cherry flavors that unfold and spread out steadily on the back half. 3. Viña Santurnia Rioja Crianza 2016
    $14.98
    Availability:In Stock
The simple story is that, while these are not the wine version of 'super models', they are character-filled, honest, classically rendered wines that deliver every time at prices that are pretty easy to swallow. Familiar notes of plum, cranberry, spice, leather, and vanilla play at every level. While they have that engaging Rioja muskiness and dusty note to the finish, they tend to be riper, more substantial, and fuller-bodied than your garden variety Rioja. Learn More
  4. Celler Cal Pla Black Slate Porrera 2016
    JD94
    $16.98
    Availability:Out of Stock
94 Points! The 2016 Black Slate Porrera comes from a project of importer Eric Solomon focusing on the specific villages in the Priorat. The 2016 is 60% Grenache and 40% Carignan that was mostly destemmed and spent a full year in used barrels. Thrilling blue fruits, tar, rose petals, and a smoky, marine, iodine-like character all emerge from this full-bodied effort that opens up nicely with time in the glass. Tasting like it cost three times the price, it picks up more minerality with time in the glass, has beautiful balance, and great purity of fruit. It would be hard to find a better value. Drink bottles over the coming 3-5 years. - Jeb Dunnuck, jebdunnuck.com Learn More
  5. Clos i Terrasses Priorat Clos Erasmus 2016
    JD99
    WA96-99
    $169.98
    Availability:In Stock
99 Points! Not far off the magical 2013, the 2016 Clos Erasmus shows the purity and freshness of the vintage yet backs it up with rock star depth of fruit and richness. A huge nose of blueberries, crème de cassis, blood orange, and violets give way to a full-bodied Priorat that has flawless balance and purity, a stacked mid-palate, ripe tannins, and a finish that goes on for over a minute. This is pure, elegant, yet powerful Priorat at its finest. The 2016 is a blend of 75% Grenache and 25% Syrah that spent 18 months in 40% new oak. Give bottles 2-3 years, count yourself lucky, and enjoy over the following 15-20 years. - Jeb Dunnuck, jebdunnuck.com Learn More
  6. Clos i Terrasses Priorat Laurel 2016
    JD95
    $39.98
    Availability:In Stock

95 Points! The 2016 Laurel is sensational stuff and, in truth, matches several older vintages of the grand vin in quality. A blend of 80% Grenache, 15% Syrah, and the rest Cabernet Sauvignon, aged 16 months in a mix of oak, concrete, and amphora, this deep purple-colored beauty offers up a fresh, vibrant bouquet of blueberries, crisp plums, violets, and spring flowers. Possessing full-bodied richness, beautiful depth of fruit and richness, and a fresh, elegant style, it’s a brilliant wine that’s going to evolve gracefully for 10-15 years. - Jeb Dunnuck, jebdunnuck.com

Very attractive nose of black cherries, sage and chocolate. Ripe and generous with nice, warm tannins that fill out the full body very nicely. Long and very harmonious finish. Drink or hold. - JamesSuckling.com

Bright violet color. Spice-accented red/blue fruits on the nose, along with a suave floral overtone. Lively and incisive on the palate, offering mineral-inflected boysenberry and raspberry flavors that show a Pinot-like light touch. Silky tannins add subtle grip to the finish, which leaves a zesty red berry note behind. - Josh Raynolds, Vinous Media Learn More
  8. Familia Nin-Ortiz Priorat Nit de Nin La Coma d’en Romeu 2016
    JD94
    $79.98
    Availability:In Stock
The 2016 Nit De Nin La Coma D'En Romeu is another perfumed red from this estate, yet it takes the exotic level up a notch. Wild strawberries, pomegranate, blood orange, and crush violet notes all define the bouquet, and it’s medium to full-bodied, concentrated, and layered on the palate. While it’s a beautiful wine, it has a certain wildness that makes me think it’s best enjoyed over the coming 7-8 years. This cuvée is all Garnacha from a higher elevation vineyard and spent 17 months in once-used 600-liter barrels. - Jeb Dunnuck, jebdunnuck.com Learn More
  9. Creta Roble Ribera del Duero 2016

  10. Casa Castillo Jumilla Vino de Finca 2016
    WA92
    $16.98
    Availability:In Stock

There is a new middle-of-the-range red, above the Monastrell and below the single-vineyard wines, already in its second vintage with the 2016. This 2016 Vino de Finca comes from the oldest vineyard (from the grapes that used to go to the Monastrell) and also from different parts within the estate. It's mainly Monastrell with some 5% Garnacha, fermented with part of full clusters and indigenous yeasts and matured in oak foudres for one year. This is incredibly aromatic and expressive, with floral notes that I don't often find in Monastrell, elegant, balanced, fresh ... simply unbelievable. It has an outstanding palate, with refined tannins and great length. - Luis Gutierrez, robertparker.com

  11. Artadi Rioja Valdegines 2016
    JS97
    WA94
    $51.98
    Availability:In Stock

94 Points! The 2016 Valdeginés comes from an organically farmed vineyard planted 35 to 40 years ago at 600 meters in altitude in the village of Laguardia. From an east-facing plot of five hectares opposite La Poza de Ballesteros, the vines are younger here (from the early 1980s), and they get the morning sun. In a cooler year, like this 2016, the grapes ripened quite slowly. The Valdeginés fermented with indigenous yeasts in open-top wooden vats after a 24- to 48-hour cold soak and then matured in barrel until malolactic was completed, yet there is no trace of oak (the élevage was shortened to nine months in barrel), instead it's floral and vibrant in the palate. This is always the first single-vineyard wine offered for tasting, and it tends to be their prettiest wine; in 2016 it was really captivating, very clean, fresh and open from the first minute after being poured in the glass. 2016 seems to be a very transparent vintage, and this is a great example of it. Superb! 13,000 bottles produced. Drink: 2019-2026. - Luis Gutierrez, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

  12. Raul Perez Bierzo La Vizcaina La Vitoriana 2016
    WA96
    $33.98
    Availability:In Stock
96 Points!  The vines at La Vitoriana are from a north-facing part of the vineyard and are extremely old, and the grapes show their best between 13% and 13.5% alcohol. The maceration of the 2016 La Vizcaína La Vitoriana is the longest of all wines from La Vizcaína wines, and it always has very strong balsamic notes. It's subtle and elegant with a velvety texture, with lots of energy and inner strength. Pérez selects about half of the vineyard, and he feels 2016 is the year that best represents the character of the place. I'd add it's probably the best vintage so far. - Luis Gutierrez, robertparker.com

    WS92
    JS93
    VM93
    $27.98
    Availability:In Stock
93 Points!  Limpid straw-yellow. Powerful pear, nectarine and melon qualities on the highly perfumed nose, which is complemented by smoky mineral, jasmine and ginger nuances. Sappy, mineral-laced orchard and pit fruit stain the palate and become spicier as the wine stretches out. Rich, yet nervy in style, finishing very long and energetic, with resonating florality and a lingering mineral flourish.

93 Points!  The eponymous 2016 Mauro is mostly Tempranillo (or Tinto Fino) with some Syrah from 80 hectares of different vineyards, mostly in the villages of Tudela de Duero, Traspinedo and Santibañez. It fermented in stainless steel and matured in French and American oak barrels and foudres for 15 months. 2016 is a cooler, more Atlantic and more drinkable vintage with contained ripeness, fine tannins and nice balance. - Luis Gutierrez, robertparker.com

  17. Dominio de Pingus Ribera del Duero Psi 2016
    JS94
    WA92-93
    $26.98
    Availability:In Stock
92-93 Points!  I  tasted the...2016 PSI a few weeks before bottling, so I tasted the final blend in tank and ready to go into bottle. What came to mind when I smelled this sample was some of the old vintages of Pesquera. All the grapes come from the north and east of Aranda del Duero, from the cooler part of the appellation. The logistics of doing this volume is not easy, and in 2016 they were able to ferment 100% of the volume in their own winery, which gave them more control. The year was naturally fresher, mostly through higher yields, and they also managed the harvest date with more precision. All this translates into a fresher wine with more precision and elegance...probably the finest vintage of PSI—finer, longer and sharply focused. According to Sisseck, this is the PSI he always dreamed about. - Luis Gutierrez, robertparker.com

  18. Olivares Altos de la Hoya Monastrell Jumilla 2016
    VM90
    $10.98
    Availability:In Stock
90 Points! Deep, vivid ruby color. Vibrant red/blue fruit scents, along with building spiciness and a sexy floral topnote. Silky and energetic on the palate, with a core of brisk acidity adding lift and cut to sweet cherry, boysenberry and floral pastille flavors. Focused and lithe on the clinging, blue fruit-driven finish, which is framed by fine-grained, harmonious tannins. The blend of power and elegance here is pretty impressive, as is the value that it delivers. - Josh Raynolds, Vinous Media Learn More
  19. Raul Perez Bierzo La Vizcaina El Rapolao 2016
    WA95
    $31.98
    Availability:In Stock
95+ Points!  The cool and elegant character of the El Rapolao plot seems to have been amplified by the weather conditions in the 2016 La Vizcaína El Rapolao. Pérez does not own all the vineyards, so sourcing can sometimes vary within the same vineyard, and since 2016 it comes from two old plots where the Mencía is mixed with other varieties; the wine seems to have gained in depth and complexity as a result. In 2016 he did a slightly shorter maceration and matured the wine in 500-liter oak barrels for a little over 12 months. The vineyard yields well, and the wine is always expressive, balanced and elegant. It seems like slightly higher yields suit it better, and the wines have good tension and an herbal twist that adds to the complexity and freshness. - Luis Gutierrez, robertparker.com
