96 Points! Dalmau comes from the Canajas vineyard, which has a high concentration of limestone. The sweet, savoury, red-fruited Tempranillo core is underpinned by the grassiness and tannic structure of 15% Cabernet Sauvignon and 14% Graciano. - Decanter Magazine Learn More
  2. Benjamin Romeo Rioja La Cueva del Contador 2008
    WA94
    VM93+
Special Price $49.98 Regular Price $89.98
    Availability:In Stock
94 Points! The 2008 La Cueva de Contador is 100% Tempranillo aged for 18 months in new French oak. This purple-colored Rioja offers up a striking nose of sandalwood, Asian spices, incense, lilacs, espresso, and blackberry. Savory, ripe, sweetly-fruited, and incipiently complex, it will evolve for 6-8 years and drink well through 2028, if not longer. - robertparker.com Learn More
  3. Izadi Rioja El Regalo 2014
    JS91
    WA91
Special Price $16.98 Regular Price $32.98
    Availability:In Stock
91 Points! The 2014 El Regalo is named after the estate in the village of Villabuena where the old-vine Tempranillo grapes used for it are grown. The destemmed and crushed grapes fermented in oak vats with half of the volume going through malolactic in those vats and the other half in new barriques. The wine matured in the best barriques money can buy (50% French, 50% American) for some 20 months. It's ripe, heady, juicy and with a lactic component that gives it a commercial profile. The palate is full-bodied, chewy and tannic. Contrary to what many might think, the younger wine is also the most expensive. - Luis Gutierrez, robertparker.com Learn More
  4. Castaño Solanera Viñas Viejas 2015
    WA92
Special Price $9.98 Regular Price $14.98
    Availability:In Stock
92 Points! The 2015 Solanera used to wear the ultimate Spanglish label, which said "Viñas Viejas of Monastrell" even if it was always a blend (in this vintage, the blend includes 20% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Garnacha Tintorera). The revamped 2015 has a completely different label that only keeps the "viñas viejas" moniker. In this wine, from the joint venture with U.S. importer Eric Solomon that started in 1999, they used part of full clusters and sourced the grapes from Casa Marta, a nine-hectare, head-pruned, dry-farmed plot on very stony soils in the north of Yecla at the foot of the Mount Arabí. It fermented in concrete vats and open-top barrels and matured in barrique, each variety separately, for some ten months, after which it was blended and bottled. This is the vintage of the big change in this wine, where, as with the majority of its siblings, there is better balance and more integrated oak, more freshness and better balance. The nose is quite captivating, especially after some time in the glass, when it starts developing some floral aromas, perfect ripeness, no warmth or alcohol and a powerful, yet terribly balanced palate with concentration and elegance, fine-grained tannins and clean, focused flavors. This is my favorite Solanera to date. - Luis Gutierrez, robertparker.com Learn More

Special Price $19.98 Regular Price $32.00
    Availability:In Stock
96 Points!  Some richer, darker and deeper fruit character with plums, blackberries and a dark, earthy streak. The tannins are more upright, more elevated, and the fruit is richer and darker than in the Labastida. This has real presence, grip and energy.  - JamesSuckling.com

92 Points!  Extremely perfumed, oak-accented nose displays cherry-vanilla and blackberry preserves, with a sexy floral note and building spiciness. Full-bodied and velvety, offering palate-coating flavors of macerated cherry, dark berries and vanilla bean. Finishes very long and sweet, with persistent spiciness and a hint of smoke. An extremely attractive and balanced example of the modern style.

  8. Terroir Al Limit Priorat Arbossar 2014
    JS92
    WA94
Special Price $59.98 Regular Price $90.00
    Availability:In Stock
94 Points! The 2014 Arbossar is old-vine Cariñena from a north-facing slope (coster), fermented with natural yeast and matured in an oak foudre from Stockinger until bottling in June 2016. This is always a lighter colored, perfumed Cariñena, with the freshness of a north exposure, which in the warmer 2014 feels a little riper and certainly with a lot more tannins than the 2013. The idea for this wine is to ferment it and age it in cement, and remove the oak totally; this will happen from the 2015 vintage. - Luis Gutierrez, Wine Advocate

  9. Vinsacro Dioro Rioja 2015
    WA92
    VM93
Special Price $19.98 Regular Price $65.00
    Availability:In Stock
92 Points! The top of the range is the 2015 Vinsacro Dioro, a wine that is only produced in excellent vintages. It's a blend of 40% Vidau (the old field blend) plus 45% Tempranillo and 15% Mazuelo, from a slope in the south of the Monte Yerga called Cuesta la Reina, from a big, 120-hectare plot that has been with the Escudero family for generations. It fermented with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel with a long maceration. It matured in new French (70%) and American oak barrels for 18 months. It's still very young and a little shy, with a reticent nose where the lactic and spicy aromas are intermixed with earthy and dark fruit aromas. The palate is full-bodied but perfectly balanced, compact, powerful and serious, with abundant tannins, extract and clout. This should develop nicely in bottle, given its stuffing and balance. An excellent, modern version of a classical Rioja. - Luis Gutierrez, Wine Advocate

90 Points! The just-bottled 2015 Pruno is a young, fruit-driven and straightforward blend of Tempranillo and Cabernet Sauvignon from young and older vines in their 63-hectare organically-farmed estate, located around the winery by the river Duero. 2015 was a very warm year and the wine is ripe without excess, juicy and tasty, with a minty and chocolate touch perhaps from the one year it spent in oak barrels. - Luis Gutierrez, Wine Advocate

    WA96
Special Price $109.98 Regular Price $150.00

96 Points! This pure Garnacha from old vines in the village of La Figuera in Montsant showed a waterfall of red fruit and violets with subtle touches of spices in an elegant way. The palate is pure silk, quite fruit-driven with moderate acidity and silky tannins, but somehow I was expecting a little more tension and spark; I found it a little shy and not as vibrant as one would wish in a vintage like 2013. - Luis Gutierrez, robertparker.com #227

  12. Castano Solanera Vinas Viejas 2013
    WA92
Special Price $9.98 Regular Price $16.00
    Availability:In Stock
92 Points! 2013 Solanera is a “Vinas Viejas” that differs from the Castano (100% Monastrell), as this blend is 70% Monastrell, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15 % Grenache, aged 10 months in French and American oak. Another difference from the Hecula is that it was aged equal parts in tank and the other half in French oak. The Solanera, which comes from relatively high-altitude limestone soils at 900 meters, has a dense purple color, a big sweet kiss of blueberry and blackberry fruit mixed with crushed chalk, a full-bodied mouthfeel, beautiful purity, density and richness. The oak is well concealed by the lavish fruit–the wine just amazing. Drink it over the next 2-3 years, as these powerhouses are best consumed in their exuberant and extroverted youth. - Robert Parker, eRobertParker.com

  13. Abadia Retuerta Cabernet Sauvignon Pago Valdebellon 2011
    WA94
Special Price $79.98 Regular Price $120.00
    Availability:In Stock
The 2011 Pago Valdebellon, pure Cabernet Sauvignon, has the cassis and herbal aromas so typical from the variety, but in 2011 it ripened perfectly and also reveals showy, dark aromas of graphite, black pepper and smoke. It does have some aromas of dark chocolate and smoke, but the oak is perfectly integrated and makes those aromas of paprika come out and provide freshness. The palate is medium to full-bodied with classical dusty, grainy tannins, good acidity, and very good balance, a big, powerful and ripe Cabernet which really benefitted from the 2011 growing season. This has to be one of the top Cabernet Sauvignons produced in Spain. - Luis Gutierrez, eRobertParker.com

  16. Orto Vins Montsant Les Tallades De Cal Nicolau 2011
    WA93
Special Price $69.98 Regular Price $110.00
    Availability:In Stock
The top of the range is the 2011 Les Tallades de Cal Nicolau, a varietal red of the rare Picapoll Tinto from 0.2 hectares planted with ungrafted vines in 1870 -so pre-phylloxera. The grapes fermented with indigenous yeasts in 500-liter oak barrels and the wine matured in well-seasoned barriques for one year. There are the classic berries here, but also some pit fruit, sweet spices and a floral touch in a complete and reverent nose. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins showing some character, elegant and rustic at the same time. It feels a little riper than the superb 2010 vintage. A red of character. Only 652 bottles were produced. I need to go to see this vineyard one of these days... - Luis Gutierrez, eRobertParker.com #219

The translucent 2011 Palell, the Garnacha Peluda from a vineyards planted in 1950 on a steep slope shows bright cherry fruit, balsamic aromas and comes through as quite fresh for a very ripe and warm year. The palate shows good precision and focused flavors, with moderate acidity and some spiciness from the oak in the finish. It should get better in bottle. Sadly there are only 875 bottles of the wine. - Luis Gutierrez, eRobertParker.com #219

  19. Equipo Navazos La Bota de Palo Cortado Lot 47 375ml
    WA99
Special Price $119.98 Regular Price $150.00
    Availability:In Stock
99 Points!  Another wine that but for the Amontillado 49 would be a candidate for a perfect score, the NV La Bota de Palo Cortado Bota NO 47 is an extremely old Palo Cortado most probably from a good vineyard within the Pago Miraflores in Sanlúcar and made at a time when the musts were fermented in barrel. This wine is now around 80 years old, and comes from a solera that used to belong to Gaspar Florido. The 22% alcohol is the result of sheer concentration. This is one single cask, marked as NO (kept for the owners). The color is a bright mahogany, with a green border, denoting extreme age and a nose with some gunpowder, tar and mineral reduction. The palate combines the extreme intensity of the 49 and the balance and approachable character of the 51 along with piercing acidity and flavors. It is ultra-concentrated and has an incredibly long finish; a beast of a wine. You feel the sharpness of a razor going down your throat, with concentrated sea water, salty, mineral finish. This has real energy and power, only shadowed because the number 49 exists, and also a step closer to being an Amontillado. Bottled in December 2013 into 1,200 half bottles.  Luis Gutierrez, eRobertParker.com #216, December 2014
