  1. Jermann Vintage Tunina Venezia-Giulia 2015
    JS94
    $56.98
    Availability:In Stock
94 Points! The nose of this white is extremely refined, offering up green apples, thyme, preserved lemons, pine needles, dried citrus rind and beeswax. The palate digs deep with beautiful phenolic texture, a fine line of acidity, layers of fruit and a long finish. Drink now, but this will develop beautifully in bottle. - JamesSuckling.com Learn More
  2. Moschioni Pignolo Colli Orientali del Friuli 2009
    WA92
    $64.98
    Availability:In Stock
92 Points!  The 2009 Friuli Colli Orientali Pignolo opens to a fragrant and floral bouquet with pressed rose petal, wild berry and cassis. On the nose, the wine appears much younger than it actually is. The quality of the fruit is vibrant and youthful. In the mouth, this Pignolo offers grit and determination with fine tannins and a medium build. It closes with smooth layers of richness and dark fruity intensity.  Inspired by the distinct power and concentration that distinguish air-dried wines (made with the appassimento process), Michele Moschioni produces wines that are unlike any other in Friuli Venezia Giulia...Moschioni's wines offer extreme concentration and density. - Monica Larner, robertparker.com

  3. Tiare Sauvignon Collio 2017
    $26.98
    Availability:In Stock
They grow Sauvignon Blanc in a lot of places world-wide, from the Loire to Australia, South Africa and the Americas.  But some of the most intriguing come from the high country of northeast Italy.  There’s a distinctive take on the varietal with aromas of tomato leaf, grapefruit, wild herbs, and yellow stone fruits.  The flavors are hauntingly insistent but also delicate.  When it’s on, it is a lovely and unique take on the varietal, pretty unlike anything else from this varietal.  Some of our favorites are Vie de Romans, Venica, and Venica, and Terlano’s Porphyr.   In that vein of elite level, captivating, almost haunting ‘high country’ Sauvignons, add the Tiare Sauvignon Collio 2017, a beautiful example of exactly what we are talking about and a “tre bicchierre” selection from Gambero Rosso (their highest rating).

  4. Specogna Pinot Grigio Ramato Friuli Colli Orientali 2017
    $22.98
    Availability:In Stock
Not all Pinot Grigios are created equal, and some of them are even pink.  As many of you know, Pinot Grigio grapes actually have a pinkish tint.  Through a process called ramato, the Pinot Grigio grapes spend some extra time in contact with the skins which changes the phenolic feel of the wine in the mouth, adds a little punch to the mid palate and, depending on the length of the contact, imparts a pinkish hue to the wine itself.  There aren’t a lot of folks that do it this way and it takes a certain level of talent to pull it off.  But done right, it is a delicious, distinctive take on the varietal that most folks haven’t tried.   Definitely for adults, the Specogna Pinot Grigio Ramato Friuli Colli Orientali 2017 ($22.99) is a marvelous example of this style.  Who knew Pinot Grigio could be this interesting?

  6. Gravner Rosso Breg Venezia Giulia 2005
    VM95
    $139.98
    Availability:In Stock
95 Points!   Vivid full ruby-purple. Blackberry, violet and aromatic herbs on the nose, along with some flinty minerality and a hint of blueberry pie. Enters bright and juicy, then turns surprisingly plush and sweet in the mouth, with an enticingly wild quality to the concentrated blue and red berry flavors. Boasts terrific density of fruit and silky texture, not to mention harmonious acidity. Finishes suavely tannic and extremely long with noteworthy clarity and cut. An absolutely knockout Pignolo: very well done. Fermented in amphoras with indigenous yeasts and no temperature control. The wine spent five months in buried amphoras, then five years in large oak barrels.

  7. Gravner Ribolla Gialla Venezia Giulia 2009
    WA94+
    VM93
    $79.98
    Availability:In Stock
93 Points!  Deep orangy-yellow color. Pure, highly complex aromas of lemon, winter melon, apricot jelly, crushed stone, minerals and iris. Then juicy, tight and sharply delineated, with very fresh, dry, mineral-driven flavors of lemon, orchard fruit and mint. With aeration, this revealed its underlying richness even more and without losing any of its grip or precision. Fermented in amphoras with indigenous yeasts and no temperature control, it spent five months in buried amphoras, then six years in large oak barrels. An outstanding orange wine: Gravner should consider opening a school to teach many of his colleagues all over the world how to correctly make such wines.

  8. Gravner Bianco Breg Venezia Giulia 2009
    WA93
    $79.98
    Availability:In Stock
93 Points! Sampled at the Gravner tasting room from specially made stemless balloon glasses, the 2009 Bianco Breg pours to a fully orange color with brilliant highlights of gold and brightly polished copper. The bouquet here is round and supple, with a softness and subsequent richness that comes from the lacy, velvety nature of the macerated grape skins. You get honey, canned peach, maple syrup and almost sweet honeysuckle-like sensations. There is tannic structure here, but nearly a decade of bottle aging has ironed out any noticeable edges. Josko Gravner suggests drinking this wine at about 57 degrees to 64 degrees Fahrenheit. His daughter pegs the perfect temp at 53 degrees to 60 degrees. 9. Gravner Pinot Grigio Riserva Venezia Giulia 2006
    WA95
    $139.98
    Availability:In Stock
95 Points!  The 2006 Pinot Grigio Anfora is one of the most unique wines I have ever tasted from Friuli. As the name implies, this is a Pinot Grigio fermented and macerated on the skins in terra cotta amphorae and aged in cask, in the same manner Gravner uses for all of his other wines. Deceptively medium in body, the wine dazzles with gorgeous inner perfume, surprising density on the palate and stunning overall balance. At times delicate and ethereal, while at others astonishingly powerful, Gravner’s 2006 Pinot Grigio is in a class of its own. Sweet, Pinot-like red fruits linger on the haunting finish. The maceration on the skins brings out Pinot Grigio’s naturally red skin tonality. The wine should be enjoyed at cellar temperature or slightly warmer, but not chilled. It is a totally unique, quirky but superb wine from Josko Gravner. - Antonio Galloni

  11. Bastianich Vespa Bianco 2015
    WA94
    VM92+
    $26.98
    Availability:In Stock
94 Points! Here's another winning edition of this great wine. The 2015 Vespa Bianco has that familiar creamy texture and richness but a more evolved aromatic profile. What's special about this vintage is the dimension it now shows along with some very tonic fruit at the back. It is spicy and warm, with flashes of bright tangerine, and offers so much intensity and textural purity. This beautiful wine calls for a nice grilled ocean fish, such as orata or (more readily available in North America) a black sea bass. - Monica Larner, robertparker.com Learn More

91 Points! Bright golden-yellow. Very Sauvignon-like with its aromas and flavors of green fig, grapefruit, guava and sage. Bright, fresh and tactile, with a saline nuance on the long, vibrant and juicy finish. Clocks in at 14.5% alcohol, but seems like it was made in a cooler climate. - Ian D'Agata, Vinous Media

    VM93
    $23.98

93 Points! Golden-tinged yellow. Intense nose of white stone fruit, lime cordial, green fig and aromatic herbs. Fresh, juicy and precise, with lovely clarity and cut to the pure stone fruit and citrus flavors. Finishes long and tactile with noteworthy depth and complexity. A wine that would have made Mario Schiopetto proud. Lovely balance: the label sports 14% alcohol but tastes like if it has fewer octanes than that. -Ian D'Agata, Vinous Media

  16. Edi Keber Collio Bianco 2016
    $26.98
    Availability:In Stock
No place does this kind of thing like the northeast  of Italy.  Riveting, purposeful blends of a mixture of white varietals make for some uniquely compelling whites with lifted fruit, plenty of sizzle, but also unexpected palate presence.  In that realm, Keber has always been one of the stars.  Their Collio Bianco can stand with the best in the region, but is much more attractively priced.

Maybe it was just a good day, but the 2016 Keber Collio is the best version of this wine we can remember tasting, everything the past efforts have been but with seemingly another gear.  The blend is 70% Friulano , 15% Malvasia Istriana, and 15% Ribolla Gialla.  The concept is Friulano for structure, Malvasia Istriana for its aromatic qualities, and Ribolla Gialla for acidity. These varietals do very well in the so-named "Ponka”soil composed of marl and sandstone that naturally stresses the vines.  The grapes are whole cluster, soft-pressed to minimise oxidation during crushing. The juice is fermented and matured on the yeasts for 6 months in
cement vats. Twenty per-cent of the Friulano is aged in older, large barrels.

This wine, from a 10-acre estate near the Slovenian border, always has remarkable weight, body and a distinctive, super-minerally aspect typical of the region.  The estate produces just this wine but it is a constant winner.  This time around, it's just a notch or two better, which is pretty sensational.
