93 Points! The 2016 Châteauneuf-du-Pape is a beauty. Beautiful kirsch and blackberry fruits, ground herbs, hints of flowers, and pepper all flow to a medium to full-bodied, seamless wine that has terrific depth and richness as well as sweet tannin. It's well worth a case purchase and will drink brilliantly for 10-15 years. The blend in 2016 is 60% Grenache, 25% Mourvèdre, and the rest Syrah and Cinsault. - Jeb Dunnuck Learn More
  2. Clos St. Antonin Cotes du Rhone 2016
    WA91
    $13.98
    Availability:In Stock
91 Points! ...the 2016 Côtes du Rhône should be sought out by savvy buyers. Ripe, rounded, and incredibly sexy, with lots of kirsch and blackberry fruits, garrigue, and mineral notes, it has impeccable balance as well as purity of fruit. It’s a knockout Côtes du Rhône to drink over the coming 3-4 years. This up and coming superstar of an estate was created by Isabelle and Christophe Sabon (of Domaine de Janasse) in 2015. The estate is located in the Plan de Dieu, northeast of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, yet they have access to some prime terroirs in Châteauneuf-du-Pape in the La Crau and Font du Loup lieux-dits. These are legit, awesome wines, and savvy readers need to get on board! - Jeb Dunnuck, jebdunnuck.com Learn More
  3. Les Cailloux (Andre Brunel) Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Centenaire 2016
    JD97
    WA98-100
    $189.98
    Availability:In Stock
98-100 Points! When one comes across a wine like this in a blind tasting, it's human nature to second-guess the initial reaction. Yet every time I went back to the wine that turned out to be the Brunels' 2016 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Centenaire, I came away astounded by its complexity and balance. Yes, it's full-bodied, but it's also light on its feet, a lithe vinous gymnast, wiry and strong yet graceful and loaded with nuance. The soaring aromas and flavors range from raspberries and cherries through to roses, black tea, thyme and lavender in this incredible wine. I suspect it will rival the legendary 1990 and 1998 versions. - Joe Czerwinski, robertparker.com Learn More
  4. Les Cailloux (Andre Brunel) Chateauneuf du Pape 2016
    JD94
    WA95-97
    $49.98
    Availability:In Stock
95-97 Points! I've tasted many vintages of the Brunels' wines, and 2016 looks as if it will be their best ever. The 2016 Chateauneuf du Pape stood out in my blind tasting, offering incredible complexity and lightness despite being full-bodied. Roses, garrigue and dried spices accent raspberries and cherries in a wine that's concentrated and intense yet agile, with nuances galore. It's 70% Grenache, 15% Mourvèdre, 10% Syrah and 5% Cinsault and will have aged 18 months (mainly in concrete) prior to bottling. Let's hope this looks just as good then. - Joe Czerwinski, robertparker.com Learn More

Slightly more elegant, with beautiful kirsch, currants, spice, minerality and hints of pepper, it's medium to full-bodied, seamless and impeccably balanced on the palate, with fine tannin, and a great finish. Concentrated and sappy in the mouth, offering juicy red currant, bitter cherry and floral pastille flavors that slowly turn sweeter on the back half. The mineral note returns on the long, penetrating finish, which hangs on with very good tenacity. - Josh Raynolds, Vinous Media Learn More

    JD94
    $19.98
    Availability:In Stock
94 Points! Even better, the 2016 Côtes du Rhône Villages Plan de Dieu has to be one of the great wines from this appellation, which comes from an ocean of vines located on the valley floor between Vacqueyras and Cairanne. Made from 50% Grenache, 30% Mourvèdre, and 20% Syrah brought up in foudre and demi-muids, it offers awesome notes of cassis, blackberries, spice box, and licorice. Ripe, full-bodied, and powerful, yet also balanced and pure, do your best to latch onto a few bottles. - Jeb Dunnuck, jebdunnuck.com Learn More
  11. Bernardins Beaumes de Venise Rouge 2017
    DEC94
    $17.98
    Availability:In Stock
94 Points! Aged for 10-12 months in stainless steel, this has intense juniper and rosemary notes on the very rounded and savoury palate. The tannins are robust but ripe and will need time to settle, and the acidity is fierce. It's very powerful but balanced overall, retaining freshness. An impressive wine with tremendous focus and seething energy. Another excellent vintage for one of the best value wines in the southern Rhône. - Decanter Magazine Learn More

    WS95

95 Points! Moving to the reds, the base 2016 Châteauneuf-du-Pape is a blockbuster, and this is one of those cases where you have to wonder if it’s worth the cost of the special cuvées when this wine is so good. Maire describes the 2016 vintage as a mix of the 2010 and 2007 vintages, and I can’t disagree. This beautiful 2016 offers a terrific nose of black raspberries, garrigue, and peppered meat in a full-bodied, ripe, incredibly sexy, seamless style. It has a boatload of tannins, and despite its intensity and richness, is still elegant and seamless. Buy a case of this, trust me. - Jeb Dunnuck, jebdunnuck.com Learn More

  15. Birichino Grenache Besson Vineyard Vignes Centenaires 2017
    $19.98
    Availability:In Stock
109-year-old vines in Santa Clara Valley, just east of the eastern edge of Santa Cruz Mountains. The guys really seem to have fun making these wines. This one gets about 10% dried, and then a long maceration. Pale rose red. Perfumed and delicate with real lift and more than a hint of Gredos Garnacha. Transparent in every way with quite a bit of structure hiding underneath the perfume. Good fruity core. Long. A real success!" - Jancis Robinson MW Learn More

Reminding me of an old vine Grenache cuvée from the Maurel brothers in Châteauneuf du Pape, it boasts a huge nose of black raspberries, kirsch liqueur, graphite, ground herbs, and pepper. This is one of those wines that offers incredible intensity and depth, yet still just glides over the palate with no sense of heaviness whatsoever. Full-bodied, rich, layered, and pure, it’s a riveting example of Grenache that could come from nowhere else. Drink it any time over the coming 15+ years. - Jeb Dunnuck, jebdunnuck.com Learn More
