  1. La Bastide Saint Dominique Chateauneuf Du Pape Secrets De Pignan 2016
    WA97
    $54.98
    Availability:In Stock
97 Points!  All Grenache from the sandy soils of Pignan (nord) and matured in stainless steel, the 2016 Chateauneuf du Pape Secrets de Pignan boasts enormous levels of purple raspberries, plums and apricots. Full-bodied, plush and creamy textured, it delivers waves of supple, rich, concentrated fruit, plus enough spicy-herbal complexity to keep things interesting. An unadulterated expression of ripe Grenache, it's even more compelling than the stellar 2015 version. - Joe Czerwinski, robertparker.com

  2. Mas de Boislauzon Chateauneuf du Pape Tintot 2015
    JD98
    $74.98
    Availability:In Stock
98 Points!  The 2015 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Tintot offers more black fruits, olive tapenade, charred meats and graphite, as well as a huge, concentrated, incredibly pure style on the palate. While the Quet is all about opulence and pleasure, this has a more focused, pure style, while not losing a beat on concentration and purity. I'd gladly put this up against Beaucastel's Hommage cuvée. Enjoy this incredible expression of Châteauneuf du Pape anytime over the coming 20-25 years. - Jeb Dunnuck

  3. Chateau Beaucastel Chateauneuf du Pape 2017 Pre-Arrival
    DEC95
    JD95
    WA95
    $74.98
95-97 Points!  A tremendous effort, might Beaucastel's 2017 Chateauneuf du Pape outshine even the 2016? I tasted a preliminary blend that Marc Perrin said represented 80% of the wine, and it showed ridiculous floral and fresh aromas of licorice, lavender and spice, all backed by tremendous fruit that went beyond black and red and into hints of exotic stone fruit. The final blend will likely contain more than 10% Counoise, the highest proportion ever utilized at the estate. It's rich and concentrated yet silky and lithe, with a fantastically long, elegant finish. - Joe Czerwinski, robertparker.com

  4. Solitude Chateauneuf Du Pape Vin de la Solitude 2016
    VM93
    $89.98
    Availability:In Stock
Beyond cool. A true 'throwback' wine from Solitude, down to their copying of the original bottle and label from the 18th century!  Solitude's own research showed that the blends were very different back then, a time when the Grenache grape did not dominate.  The wine was made with a large number of cofermented grape varieties. Macerations were longer than they are nowadays. 30% Counoise, 25% hundred year-old Grenache noir, 15% Syrah, 15% Mourvèdre, 5% Clairette, 5% Bourboulenc, 5% Roussanne, Clairette rose, Grenache blanc. All grapes were co-fermented and vinified as whole clusters and vinified in tronconic wood vats. Only 944 bottles produced

    WS93
    JD96
    WA94
    $74.98
    Availability:In Stock
96 Points!  Darker colored and more modern in style, the 2016 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Barberini is a parcel selection of 50% Grenache, 30% Syrah, and 20% Mourvèdre, aged in 40% new oak. Despite the new oak, it stays firmly planted in the southern Rhône and is a rich, opulent, gorgeously layered wine. With some background oak in its blackberries, cassis, toasted spice, and graphite aromas and flavors as well as a touch of chocolate, it's full-bodied, powerful, and concentrated on the palate, with terrific balance and length. It’s approachable today but will be better in 2-3 years and keep for two decades. - Jeb Dunnuck

    WA93
    VM93
    $59.98
    Availability:In Stock
93 Points!  A blend of 60% Clairette, 20% Grenache Blanc and 10% each Bourboulenc and Roussanne, the 2017 Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc Cuvee Reservee is the best example of this cuvée I can recall. It's medium to full-bodied, with a lush, creamy mouthfeel and ripe flavors of melon and citrus balanced by hints of anise and lime zest. It finishes with freshness, vibrancy and brightness. I've been deliberately conservative with the aging estimate, as I like wines like this young, but it's capable of aging for a decade or more. - Joe Czerwinski, robertparker.com

  8. Pierre Henri Morel Chateauneuf du Pape Lieu Dit Pignan 2016 Pre-Arrival
    JD96
    $54.98
96-98 Points!  The 2016 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Lieu dit Pignan is mostly Grenache (there’s 25% Mourvèdre) sourced from one of the great terroirs in the appellation. It is scheduled to be bottled in August of this year. This inky colored beauty gives up a primordial bouquet of blueberries, cassis, violets, lavender, and honeysuckle. Deep, full-bodied, and incredibly pure, with a mountain of baby fat, this awesome effort is going to take 5-7 years to shed some fruit and show nuance, but it's a brilliant effort. - Jeb Dunnuck

  11. Les Bosquet Des Papes Chateauneuf du Pape Tradition 2016
    JD93
    WA93
    $36.98
    Availability:In Stock
93 Points!  A true gem of a wine, the 2016 Châteauneuf-du-Pape checks in as 75% Grenache, 12% Mourvèdre, 10% Syrah and the balance a mix of permitted varieties. This classic cuvée comes from a multitude of sites throughout the appellation and is partially destemmed and brought up in concrete tanks and demi-muids. Terrific notes of peppery garrigue, new leather, and sweet red and black fruits all give way to a silky, seamless, full-bodied Châteauneuf-du-Pape that has no hard edges and a great finish. The classic cuvées are so good in 2016, it makes you wonder if the more expensive special cuvées are worth it. The gregarious Nicolas Boiron continues to produce an incredible lineup of wines that span the gamut from staunchly traditional in style, with plenty of stems and mostly concrete tanks aging, to close to 100% Grenache cuvées that are destemmed and aged in small amounts of new oak. Regardless, the wines today are impeccably made and show classic Southern Rhône characters. It’s worth noting that while the wines have always been solid, the quality soared around the 2010 vintage and today this estate unquestionably produces some of the top wines in the appellation. - Jeb Dunnuck

    Availability:In Stock
97 Points!  The all whole-bunch 2016 Chateauneuf du Pape Chante le Merle Vieilles Vignes is 85% Grenache, with the balance a mix of Mourvèdre and Syrah. The vines are all 80 to 90 years old, selected from parcels in Brusquières, Gardiole, Mont-Redon and Pignan. Glorious raspberry and cherry fruit picks up hints of mint and some stemmy notes, but they're remarkably well-integrated and should be completely absorbed within a couple of years. Full-bodied, rich and creamy in texture, this tour de force remains lively, silky and long on the finish. 97 Points!  I was questioning if the top cuvées were worth the money after tasting the traditional cuvée from winemaker Nicolas Boiron, then I tasted his 2016 Châteauneuf-du-Pape A La Gloire de Mon Grand-Père and decided that, yes indeed, the special cuvées in 2016 can certainly be worth the uptick in price. Based almost exclusively on Grenache (there’s a splash of Cinsault and Clairette) sourced from the La Gardiole lieu-dit and aged mostly in demi-muids, this heavenly beauty offers awesome notes of garrigue, toasted spices, flowers, licorice and loads of sweet Grenache fruit. Voluptuous, flamboyant, and sexy, yet also elegant and seamless, with a weightless texture, this is Grenache at its finest and is going to knock your socks off over the coming 10-15 years. - Jeb Dunnuck

  17. Avril Clos Des Papes Chateauneuf du Pape 2017 Pre-Arrival
    JD96
    $94.98
96-99 Points!  The 2017 Châteauneuf-du-Pape looks to be a huge success and reminds me of the 2007. As is normal, Vincent keeps multiple foudres with different blends (as well as a foudre of the final blend), and it's always incredibly educational tasting through the different barrels. The final blend has a classic, sweet bouquet of kirsch, spices, and garrigue, and it's full-bodied, deep, and thrillingly concentrated on the palate. The blend is shifted more toward Mourvèdre due to the tiny quantity of Grenache in the vintage, which makes me think this cuvée might close down shortly after bottling, but it's upfront and incredibly expressive today. - Jeb Dunnuck

  18. Barroche Chateauneuf du Pape Signature 2016
    $54.98
    Availability:In Stock
95 Points!  The quality of what could be considered the “entry-level” cuvée from Barrot is the equivalent of most estate’s top wine, and the 2016 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Signature delivers the goods again. It’s almost too good and certainly not far behind the Pure cuvée. A blend of 62% Grenache, 18% Mourvèdre, and the rest Cinsault, Syrah, Vaccarèse, and Clairette Rose, brought up in foudre and demi-muid, it sports a head-turning bouquet of kirsch liqueur, blackberries, crushed herbs, and pepper. With a big mid-palate, full body, ripe tannins, and a rocking finish, it’s a no-brainer purchase that will keep for two decades... Looking at the 2016s, this is another great vintage here, and the wines resemble what was produced in 2010, although with slightly more elegance and approachability. Simply put, life is too short not to drink quantities of Châteauneuf-du-Pape from Julien Barrot! - Jeb Dunnuck

93 Points!  Pale brilliant straw. High-pitched aromas of lemon zest, Anjou pear, anise and white flowers, backed by a hint of smoky minerality. Densely packed but lithe in character, displaying very good clarity to the mineral-drenched orchard fruit, citrus zest and honeysuckle flavors. The floral note carries emphatically through the finish, which lingers with impressive, mineral-driven persistence.

95-97 Points! A wine that’s going to rival or surpass the 2015, the 2016 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Réservée shows the quality of this awesome vintage with its deep, powerful, concentrated style. While Laurence says her 2015s remind her of her 2010s, I find a certain 2010-like purity in this wine as well as killer notes of black raspberries, blueberries, garrigue, and pepper. Possessing both power and finesse, full body, sweet tannins, and a great finish, don’t miss this beauty. - Jeb Dunnuck, jebdunnuck.com
