    WS91

91 Points!  The 2016 Barbera d'Alba Superiore starts off with subtle and careful intensity. But as it takes on greater momentum in the glass, you begin to recognize dark fruit, etched mineral and black olive. The finish is polished and crisp. This Barbera reveals significant depth and lasting persistence. - Monica Larner, Wine Advocate.

  8. Elio Grasso Barbera d'Alba Vigna Martina 2016
    WA93
    $27.98
    Availability:In Stock
93 Points! The Barbera grape can often act like Nebbiolo showing its best results in the later vintages that end on a cool note. Those conditions are what define the beautiful 2016 Barbera d'Alba Vigna Martina. The wine sees 20 days of maceration with submerged cap, and the bouquet is flowing, polished and impactful as a result. Blackberry, summer cherry and plum rise from the glass. Some 18 months of oak aging adds delicate touches of spice, leather and cedar. - Monica Larner, robertparker.com Learn More
  9. Zuccardi Malbec Poligonos Tupungato (Gualtallary) 2016
    JS94
    WA94
    $26.98
    Availability:In Stock
94 Points! There is a big jump in quality in the 2016 Polígonos Gualtallary compared with the 2015, as they realized that the grapes there ripen earlier than in Altamira, even though the vineyards are much higher (Gualtallary is at 1,350 meters in altitude compared to Altamira at 1,100), which does not follow any (known) logic. They also separated the harvest by soil, which has increased the levels of precision and freshness. This is the most mineral and austere of the three Malbec Polígonos from 2016. Amazing value too! - Luis Gutierrez, robertparker.com

  10. Agostino Pavia Barbera d'Asti Blina 2016
    $13.98
    Availability:In Stock
From importer Oliver McCrum: 'Blina' is the name of the vineyard. This wine is a direct, straightforward rendition of the Barbera grape. Fresh acidity and berry flavors are the hallmarks of Barbera, but low yields and old vines give this wine very good depth and concentration, too. Fermentation and aging are completed in stainless steel, and the wine is bottled before the following harvest. (There are two things I like about wines that aren't aged in oak; one of them is that they taste of fruit, rather than oak, and the other is that they are better value. New barriques cost $800+ each.)

  11. Zuccardi Malbec Poligonos Paraje Altamira 2016
    JS95
    WA93
    $26.98
    Availability:In Stock
93 Points!  Of the Polígonos bottlings, the 2016 Polígonos Altamira is the least expressive on the nose, but its strength is on the palate. The whole range of wines fermented and matured in raw concrete vats and were bottled unoaked, as they like how wines evolve and mature in concrete; they feel that it respects the character of each place. It's not easy to decide which one of the three Malbecs from the same year in the range is better, as all three are superb. 6,600 bottles were filled in December 2017. - Luis Gutierrez, robertparker.com
