  2. Berthoumieu Madiran Cuvee Charles de Batz 2014
    $18.98
    Availability:In Stock
Importer notes: The wine is composed of 90% Tannatwith 10% Cabernet Sauvignon from vines that are at least 50 years old. The soil in these vineyards is clay and limestone with some round stones at the surface. After being completely destemmed, the Cabernet and Tannat are fermented separately in cement tanks. During this time, a bit of micro-oxygénation or microboullage takes place. The wine then goes into oak (60%) in an underground cellar where it also undergoes malolacticfermentation. After twelve months in wood, it is blended and bottled after a very light filtration. Learn More

92 Points! Vivid ruby-red. Expansive aromas of red fruit preserves, lavender and cola, and a hint of garrigue in the background. Silky, smooth and sweet on the palate, offering sappy black raspberry and boysenberry flavors and a touch of candied licorice. Fine-grained tannins give shape to the penetrating finish, which leaves behind a suave floral pastille note. These vines are reportedly between 80 and 100 years of age now. - Josh Raynolds, Vinous Media Learn More

  6. AXR Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 2014
    JD94
    JS93
    WA94
    $69.98
    Availability:In Stock
94 Points! The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon is also an impressively constructed wine, with delicious blackberry and blueberry fruit intermixed with charcoal embers, Christmas fruitcake and forest floor, followed by a richly fruity, full-bodied, opulent, classic 2014 that is sexy, endearing, and already delicious and complex. Drink it over the next 15+ years. Well-known consultant for Alpha Omega and a handful of other wineries, Jean Hoefliger, a protegé of Michel Rolland, is behind these impressive efforts. - Robert Parker, robertparker.com Learn More
  7. G.D. Vajra Barolo Bricco delle Viole 2014
    VM96
    $79.98
    Availability:In Stock
96 Points! The 2014 Barolo Bricco delle Viole is positively stunning. There are many things about this wine that are super-impressive, but what stands out most is how soft and silky the tannins are. Because of that, the 2014 is much more approachable than it usually is, and yet also conveys the feeling of translucence that is such a signature of this site and wine. I am not sure I have ever tasted a young Bricco delle Viole with this much purity of fruit. The 2014 is total class. Don't miss it. - Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media Learn More
  8. Izadi Rioja El Regalo 2014
    JS91
    WA91
Special Price $16.98 Regular Price $32.98
    Availability:In Stock
91 Points! The 2014 El Regalo is named after the estate in the village of Villabuena where the old-vine Tempranillo grapes used for it are grown. The destemmed and crushed grapes fermented in oak vats with half of the volume going through malolactic in those vats and the other half in new barriques. The wine matured in the best barriques money can buy (50% French, 50% American) for some 20 months. It's ripe, heady, juicy and with a lactic component that gives it a commercial profile. The palate is full-bodied, chewy and tannic. Contrary to what many might think, the younger wine is also the most expensive. - Luis Gutierrez, robertparker.com Learn More
  9. Groth Cabernet Sauvignon Oakville Napa Valley 2014
    WE91
    $49.98
    Availability:In Stock
91 Points! Blended with 20% Merlot, this is a finely made wine that pleases in its granular texture and bright acidity. Sinewy in feel, it has fleshy aspects of red cherry and cassis that are complemented by a cradling of vanilla oak. - Wine Enthusiast Learn More
  10. Onward Carignane Contra Costa County Casa Roja Vineyard 2014
    $24.98
    Availability:In Stock
I absolutely fell head over heels in love with this heritage field blend site. It is the oldest vineyard in the area, sustainably and dry farmed and planted in the late 1800s. This vineyard lies along the edges of both the San Francisco and Suisun Bays. Walking in the vineyard is like walking on a beach, as it sits on 100% sandy soils, giving rise to smaller, hardy bush vines. While this block is predominantly Carignane, it has some Mourvèdre and Malvasia Nero interplanted in it. The vineyard is leased and farmed by Dan Gonsalves. It is affectionately called Casa Roja, named by the locals years ago.

A layer of whole cluster was placed at the bottom of the fermenter, then the remaining fruit was de-stemmed and the whole berries transferred to the open-top fermentation tanks to cold soak prior to native fermentation, which allows for delicate extraction and adds complexity. Gentle extraction was ensured also by performing punchdowns to mix the must, while higher temperatures are encouraged here to soften tannins. After fermentation, the wine was pressed and sent to neutral French oak barrels, where native malolactic fermentation was encouraged (by keeping them cozy with some stirring). - Owner/winemaker Faith Armstrong Foster Learn More

The blend of 65% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon is an opaque blue/black in color and has abundant notes of forest floor, spring flowers, black raspberry and blueberry liqueur in the aromatics along with hints of espresso and white chocolate. The wine is beautifully constructed, full, and rich, with great structure, wonderful texture and great palate presence with its perfectly weighted fruit.

  14. Cherry Pie Pinot Noir Stanly Ranch Carneros 2014
    WS90
    WE90
    WA91
    $43.98
    Availability:In Stock
91 Points! Woodbridge’s Midas touch with Cabernet Sauvignon also extends to his Pinot Noirs. He makes three of them – two from the Sonoma Coast and one from the Southern Napa Valley site called Stanley Ranch that was often used by Berringer. The 2013s are all brilliantly packaged with a gorgeous picture of a cherry pie on the label. The 2013 Cherry Pie Pinot Noir Stanly Ranch is a hefty Pinot at 15+% natural alcohol, but exhibits delicious kirsch liqueur notes, roasted herbs, spice box and medium to full-bodied fleshy and succulent fruit and texture. It is a sexy, endearing style to drink over the next 5-7 years. - Robert Parker, robertparker.com Learn More
  15. Muga Rioja Seleccion Especial 2014
    JS94
    WA93
    VM93
    $39.98
    Availability:In Stock
93 Points! The Muga family is a lot happier about 2014 than your average Riojano, and the 2014 Selección Especial shows why. Through a selection of the vineyards and longer aging in barrel, this is a more-polished wine, very good with food (it’s the one winemaker Jorge Muga usually has when he drinks one of his wines with a meal). There is very good acidity here, which is why I think this is so good with food. I really see that vintages produced from the higher-altitude, cooler places in Rioja where the Muga family sources their grapes are different from other parts of Rioja, and this 2014 is one of the finest and most balanced of the recent vintages of Selección Especial. - Luis Gutierrez, robertparker.com Learn More
  16. Pago de Carraovejas Ribera del Duero Reserva 2014
    WE94
    JD97
    $64.98
    Availability:In Stock
97 Points! A magical wine, the 2014 Reserva from winemaker Almudena Calvo is largely Tempranillo blend with 6% Cabernet Sauvignon and 4% Merlot, all aged in French oak for a year. Deep and powerful, with beautiful concentration, it’s nevertheless incredibly elegant and seamless on the palate, and shows terrific complexity in its blackcurrants, graphite, white flowers, and vanilla bean aromas and flavors. A wine of great intensity as well as purity, it builds with time in the glass and has a fabulous finish that won’t quit. It’s not for those craving lightweight aromas and flavors, but it’s a thrilling wine. Drink it any time over the coming 10-15 years. - Jeb Dunnuck, jebdunnuck.com Learn More
