    WS94
    JS95
    WA94
    VM94
    $219.98
    Availability:In Stock
95 Points! One of the best Biondi-Santi's in years. This is really silky, with plum and chocolate and hints of cedar. Some citrus as well. Full body, with gorgeous fruit and a persistent finish. Give this another three to four years to open. - JamesSuckling.com Learn More
  2. Montevertine Le Pergole Torte 2006
    VM97
    $199.98
    Availability:In Stock
97 Points! Montevertine’s 2006 Pergole Torte is also 100% Sangiovese, but it emerges from vineyards in Radda in Chianti. The late Sergio Manetti created Pergole Torte at a time when the Chianti Classico regulations dictated that white grapes be part of the blend in Chianti Classico. Manetti created Pergole Torte as one of the first 100% Sangioveses, a wine that at the time had to be declassified to Vino da Tavola, the lowest designation, but it did not formally comply with the regulations of any appellation. Of course, a bevy of pure Sangioveses followed, but Pergole Torte was among the first. It remains one of the great wines of Italy. On this night, the 2006 Pergole Torte is shockingly powerful, dense and structured, with big tannins that give the wine energy and vibrancy. Readers should be in no hurry to open bottles. What a wine! - Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media Learn More
  3. Ducru Beaucaillou Saint Julien 2006
    WA94
    $199.98
    Availability:In Stock
94 Points! Tasted at the château, the 2006 Ducru Beaucaillou has a precocious bouquet for the vintage: opulent ripe dark cherry, red plum and cassis fruit, mint and hints of vanilla pod. It is very well defined and very sensual. The palate is medium-bodied with a sweet opening, plenty of dark cherry and blackberry, Hoisin, a touch of cedar and again mint. There is fine depth here, surprisingly young with a dense, slightly tarry finish that suggests another 2-3 years will be appropriate. - Neal Martin, Wine Advocate (May 2016).

  4. Lopez de Heredia Rioja Vina Tondonia Reserva 2006
    WA95
    $39.98
    Availability:Out of Stock
95 Points!  The red flagship 2006 Viña Tondonia Reserva was inspired by the vineyards of the Médoc but produced with local grapes, 70% Tempranillo, 20% Garnacho, 5% Graciano and 5% Mazuelo, which achieved 13% alcohol in 2006. It always matures in used American oak barriques for some six years. The oldest of all the reds I tasted, it was also the one with more freshness, which speaks to the quality of the vineyard. - Luis Gutierrez, robertparker.com

  7. Gravner Pinot Grigio Riserva Venezia Giulia 2006
    WA95
    $139.98
    Availability:In Stock
95 Points!  The 2006 Pinot Grigio Anfora is one of the most unique wines I have ever tasted from Friuli. As the name implies, this is a Pinot Grigio fermented and macerated on the skins in terra cotta amphorae and aged in cask, in the same manner Gravner uses for all of his other wines. Deceptively medium in body, the wine dazzles with gorgeous inner perfume, surprising density on the palate and stunning overall balance. At times delicate and ethereal, while at others astonishingly powerful, Gravner’s 2006 Pinot Grigio is in a class of its own. Sweet, Pinot-like red fruits linger on the haunting finish. The maceration on the skins brings out Pinot Grigio’s naturally red skin tonality. The wine should be enjoyed at cellar temperature or slightly warmer, but not chilled. It is a totally unique, quirky but superb wine from Josko Gravner. - Antonio Galloni

90 Points! Bright medium red. Spicy red fruit aromas lifted by flowers. Sweet, juicy raspberry, dark chocolate and spice flavors are joined by a note of leather. Quite aromatic on the back half, finishing with dusty but sweet tannins that avoid hardness and very good grip and lift. - Stephen Tanzer, Vinous Media

  9. Malvira Roero Riserva Renesio 2006
    WA93
    $39.98
    Availability:In Stock
93 Points! The estate’s 2006 Roero Riserva Renesio is the most complete of these 2006 Roeros from Malvira. Deceptively medium in body, the Renesio flows with ripe, juicy cherries, tobacco and spices in a firm style that requires patience. There is a weightless elegance to the Renesio I find compelling and totally engaging. The Renesio shows just how elegant Nebbiolo from Roero can be. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2021.  - Antonio Galloni, Wine Advocate

  10. Isole e Olena Cepparello 2006
    WA96
    $99.98
    Availability:In Stock
96 Points! The 2006 Cepparello is a super classic wine. It brings together the best elements of the house style in its breathtaking aromatics, delineated fruit and striking overall balance. All of the elements are in the right place for the 2006 to develop into a spectacular wine. The 2006 stands apart for its nuance, depth and overall detail. Juicy red cherries, raspberries, rose petals and licorice build to the huge, dramatic finish. The 2006 is one of the all-time great Cepparellos. It bears more than a passing resemblance to the stunning 1988. The 2006 has blossomed beautifully in bottle over the last few years, and it is now clear I underestimated its potential. Anticipated maturity: 2016-2036.  - Antonio Galloni, Wine Advocate

    WS95
    WA94
    VM95
    $639.98
    Availability:In Stock
95 Points! Bright full ruby. Slightly stern aromas of cassis, graphite, licorice, incense and flowers. Then dense and penetrating, with terrific energy to the subtle dark fruit, licorice and mineral flavors. There's a coolness to the fruit that makes this wine dramatically different from the Forts de Latour. Finishes with big, building tannins and a powerful sense of structure. A fairly large-scaled Latour but not particularly sweet in the early going. In fact, this went into a shell with 24 hours in the recorked bottle. - Stephen Tanzer, Vinous Media

  19. Mouton Rothschild Pauillac 2006
    WS95
    JS95
    WA96
    $639.98
    Availability:In Stock
96 Points! Tasted at the Mouton-Rothschild vertical in London, the 2006 Mouton-Rothschild was really the wine that put winemaker Philippe Dhalluin on the map, in the sense that unlike the 2005 born in a great vintage, this 2006 had to transcend it. It remains one of the standouts of the growing season and actually replicates previous showings just the week earlier and in January. As expected, the nose has quite brilliant delineation with blackberry, graphite, here an almost cold slate-like scent. The palate is harmonious with the carefully judged acidity, fine-grain tannin and immense detail on the finish. Recent bottles suggest that it may close up for several years, in which case, either enjoy this in the next few months or cellar this for a few years and receive vinous dividends down the line. Tasted May 2016. - Neal Martin
