  1. Faiveley Corton Clos des Cortons Grand Cru 2001 Pre-Arrival
    VM93
    $149.98
93 Points! Good full medium red with just a trace of amber. Alluring, vibrant aromas and flavors of red and darker berries and salty minerals. A silky, savory, very pure midweight with subtle intensity and harmonious framing acidity providing excellent definition and a delightful light touch. This beautifully balanced, minerally wine finishes with lovely rising length and nicely resolved yet still-firm tannins. If the 2002 was disappointing, this one is a clear success in the context of its vintage. (13.2% alcohol; 3.45 pH; 3.5 g/l acidity; 42 h/h) - Stephen Tanzer, Vinous Media, March 2019 Learn More
  2. Ponsot Clos de la Roche Grand Cru Cuvee Vieilles Vignes 2001
    BH93
    WA93
    $519.98
    Availability:In Stock
Ponsot's 2001 Clos de la Roche Grand Cru Cuvée Vieilles Vignes is going from strength to strength, and this bottle was showing beautifully, wafting from the glass with notes of red plums, smoked duck, cherries, spices, mustard seed and potpourri. On the palate, it's full-bodied, deep and concentrated, with chalky but melting tannins, tangy acids and a long, stony finish. Somewhat rustic in profile, it isn't the most elegant vintage of Ponsot's Clos de la Roche, but it's beginning to drink well today. - William Kelley, robertparker.com, 2018 Learn More
  3. La Gomerie Saint Emilion 2001 Pre-Arrival
    WA93
    $159.98
93 Points!  A deep hue. A fine raspberry, cranberry, slightly spicy nose with good definition. Good intensity and cohesion. Full-bodied, good acidity, slight grainy tannins with excellent delineation. Crushed violets, cassis, blueberry. Clean focused finish. Excellent. Tasted October 2007. - Neal Martin, robertparker.com

  5. Lafite Rothschild Pauillac 2001
    WA94
    $899.98
    Availability:In Stock
94 Points!  The 2001 Lafite Rothschild’s deep, saturated plum/purple color is accompanied by lead pencil liqueur-like notes intermixed with sweet red and black currants, plums, and cedar. This blend of 86.5% Cabernet Sauvignon and 13.5% Merlot is a classic example of Lafite. Extremely elegant, medium-bodied, with intense concentration, richness, and sweet tannin, it appears to be on a rapid evolutionary track, at least in comparison to recent Lafite vintages that have been far more backward and powerful. The classy 2001 should be at its finest between 2007-2020. - Robert Parker, robertparker.com, 2004

93 Points!  This is very flamboyant on the palate with wild fruit and sweet tobacco aromas. Full-bodied, with chewy yet refined tannins and a long, fruity finish. This is very well-structured and reserved and there's loads going on here. Best after 2008. - Wine Spectator

  8. Luigi Einaudi Barolo Costa Grimaldi 2001
    VM93
    $79.98
    Availability:In Stock
93 Points!  The 2001 Barolo Costa Grimaldi is much more graceful than the Cannubi. It also spent less time in French oak barrels. Layers of dark red fruit, violets, spices, menthol and minerals are some of the many notes that flow from the glass. The 2001 shows great depth and richness. Early signs of tertiary aromatic complexity add personality and character, while an impeccable finish rounds things out in style. This is a great showing from the Costa Grimaldi.

  9. Aldo Conterno Barolo Granbussia Riserva 2001
    WA94
    $299.98
    Availability:In Stock
94 Points!  The 2001 Barolo Riserva Granbussia is gorgeous today. The bouquet is starting to show its age, with early signs of tertiary evolution that take shape in the glass. There is more than enough fruit to suggest the 2001 will drink well for another decade or so. Nothing in particular stands out, just the wine's textural beauty and incomparable finesse. Rose petals, autumn leaves and sweet spices waft from the glass as the wine continues to freshen up over time. This is a terrific showing from one of the icons of Piedmont.

  11. Paolo Scavino Barolo Cannubi 2001
    VM94
    $139.98
    Availability:In Stock
94+ Points!  The 2001 Barolo Cannubi, a dark ruby, is a classic in the making. It offers a multi-dimensional, delicate nose of flowers, menthol and minerals with plenty of ripe dark cherry fruit, great length and a nuanced, ethereal finish. It will require at least a few years of bottle age and will still be vibrant and full of flavor at age 20. Compared to Scavino's more imposing Barolos Carobric and Bric del Fiasc the Cannubi can sometimes be overpowered, but given some cellaring it typically begins to strut its stuff around age 10 and develops into a magical Barolo that can challenge many of the region's top wines. I still have fond memories of the sublime 1989 and 1990 tasted last year. A great effort.

  12. Mauro Veglio Barolo Vigneto Arborina 2001
    VM91
    $69.98
    Availability:In Stock
91 Points!  The 2001 Barolo Arborina has aged gracefully. Some of the baby fat has ped off, but the aromas and flavors remain quite primary. Layers of dark red fruit, spices, flowers and French oak wrap around the muscular finish. The French oak is present, but very nicely balanced.

  13. Sandrone Barolo Cannubi Boschis 2001
    VM95
    $199.98
    Availability:In Stock
95 Points!  The 2001 Barolo Cannubi Boschis is in a beautiful place right now. The aromas are starting to show the early signs of maturity, but there is plenty of fruit and depth in the glass. Sweet, layered and impeccable, the 2001 turns silky and delicate as its sits in the glass. Today my sense is that the 2001 won't be one of the more long-lived vintages. Hints of licorice, dried flowers and new leather are woven into the rich, textured, fabric. This is a great showing for the Cannubi Boschis.

  14. Elio Altare Barolo Vigneto Arborina 2001
    VM96
    $129.98
    Availability:In Stock
96 Points!  The 2001 Barolo Vigneto Arborina brings together the richness of 2000 along with the structure of the 1999, two qualities it has always shown. The flavors are deep, dense and beautifully laced together, yet today, the 2001 speaks to finesse above all else. Just at the early part of its drinking window, the 2001 will drink well for another 10-15 years.

  17. Clos Villemaurine Saint Emilion 2001
    $29.98
    Availability:In Stock
This wine has reached full maturity but has at least another 10+ years of life to go. With a sweet nose of blackberry and blueberry liqueur, this blend of 60% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Franc is intermixed with a crushed stone/floral component that saturates the palate. The wine is medium to full bodied with a silky texture and a long, layered, concentrated finish. A perfectly aged beauty that far exceeds its price. Learn More
