A blend of fruit from five MGA sites (Brunate, Liste, Cerequio, Cannubi and Raviole)...The Damilano 2021 Barolo Lecinquevigne offers nice intensity and standard Nebbiolo complexity with dark fruit, cassis, spice and toasted tobacco leaf. You do not taste the personality of any one site, but that's not the point. Aged in large botte, the wine is open-knit in texture and immediate. 98 Points! Not made since the 2011 vintage to commemorate the 90th anniversary of the winery and before that not since 1964, the Paolo Scavino 2016 Barolo Riserva is gorgeous. Made with a selection of the best grapes from the estate’s historic vineyards, it’s intensely fragrant, boasting multifaceted aromas of forest floor, iris, ripe woodland berry, camphor and brown exotic spice. Combining power and finesse, the delicious palate offers cherry marinated in spirits, raspberry compote, licorice and tobacco set against a backbone of firm, fine-grained tannins. Fresh acidity keeps it balanced and energized. Still primary and youthfully austere, it needs a few more years to unwind and develop. Drink 2028–2046. - Kerin O’Keefe

98 Points! Dark red/magenta in color, the 2016 Barolo Riserva is remarkable, offering loads of kirsch, polished leather, balsamic, dark chocolate, and crushed violets. The list goes on and on as it opens and begins to show more mineral aromas of graphite and truffle. Medium to full-bodied, it’s an exquisite red, with ripe, polished tannins, a seamless structure, and a long finish. It retains wonderful purity and ripeness and leaves a haunting sensation as it tapers ever so slowly. This stunning wine from the Scavino family is built for the long haul. 100% Chiavennasca (Nebbiolo) from estate vineyards in the Valgella sub-zone, fermented with native yeasts and aged a total of 7 years (1 year in cement, 4 years in large Slavonian oak casks, 2 years in bottle) before release. Shows all the characteristics of Valtellina’s most sun-exposed vineyards, with notes of dark wild berries, red flowers and menthol.

Round and full, juicy and textured, more powdery than tense and grippy with almost blackcurrant skin texture, while juicy red and black cherry juice goes through the centre, added to by dried mint, wet stones, clove and liquorice. As to the Grand Vin 2021 Château Mouton Rothschild, this beauty is in the running for one of the wines of the vintage, and it brings more depth, richness, and texture than just about anything else in the Médoc. A blend of 89% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot, and 1% Cabernet Franc that was brought up in new barrels, it sports a dense purple/plum hue as well as powerful aromatics of spicy black fruits, leafy tobacco, graphite, and freshly sharpened pencils. Medium to full-bodied on the palate, it has a building, layered mouthfeel and impressive concentration and intensity in its aromas and flavors, velvety tannins, and gorgeous finish. You'd be hard pressed to know this came from a challenging vintage. It's going to take at least 5-7 years to hit the early stages of its prime drinking window and will evolve gracefully over the following 20-25 years. Bravo. For tech geeks out there, this hit 13.1% alcohol, has an IPT of 59, and a pH of 3.73. - Jeb Dunnuck

La Tierra de Acre Mezcal Cenizo is produced from wild harvested Agave Durangensis, between eight and fourteen years of age, and is roasted for five days. This process prduces a medium nose with a complex taste framed by a light, smooth finish. Spicy, peppery notes with an earthy texture steal the show, ending with a slightly lactic smell. 45% ABV.

A lively and approachable nigori sake with aromas of banana, citrus blossom, and soft tropical fruit. The palate is lightly creamy yet refreshing, showing gentle sweetness balanced by bright acidity and subtle rice-driven umami. The finish is smooth and clean with lingering floral and citrus notes.

96 Points! Perfumed nose, full of pot pourri, scented flowers, dried raspberries and cherries. Really quite evocative, maybe in a vertical you'd pick this out from the nose but it smells wonderful and rich with cool blueberries. Round and charming, this is gorgeously soft, tannins are so inviting, caressing the mouth, not deep at all, this is delicate and primed to float across the tongue, registering the flavours but no heaviness. Almost ethereal in its performance. Really very delicious, full of flavour and character. Gorgeous styling and only got better after half an hour in the glass. Succulent, mineral, graphite, limestone touches on the finish remind you where you are. - Decanter Magazine

95 Points! The La Spinetta 2019 Barolo Campè Vürsù is balanced and bright with a little more heft and overall fruit concentration. Dried cherry, blackberry, spice and black licorice all appear on the bouquet. The 2007 vintage builds on the momentum of Palazzo Wine’s earliest Cabernet Franc releases from Carneros and represents Scott Palazzo’s second vintage of this varietal crafted in Napa Valley. Like its siblings, the wine reflects prolonged devotion to the elegance and complexity found in Bordeaux’s Right Bank wines. For years this magnum format was held exclusively for Palazzo’s private members and collectors, making this the first time this mature, library magnum has been offered to the public. This is a rare chance to acquire a beautifully aged Napa Cabernet Franc from an early chapter in Palazzo’s story.

Tasting Note:
In magnum, the 2007 shows a deep garnet color and a refined nose of redcurrant jelly, kirsch and wild blueberry layered with subtle bay leaf, pencil shavings and tobacco spice. The palate is full and structured with savory fruit core framed by grainy tannins and lively acidity, leading to a long finish with an herbal lift and polished texture. This is a Cabernet Franc with both muscle and nuance, showing depth from age while still retaining bright, expressive fruit and fresh acidity.

98 Points! 2021 was marginally cooler for whites, and while this is young, its power is irrepressible yet it also shows restraint and harmony. A fine gauze of delicate florals and spice tucked behind structure, power and tension. Tuberose, green peppercorn, pear skin, preserved lemon, green cardamon and peach blossom. The palate offers jewelled hues of peach pit; a little flint, lots of wet stone minerality and crushed white sage dance with a very fine thread of salinity and lacy acidity. This takes time to unravel and unfurl, but once it does, it's got everything. The structure is superb and the 100% new oak meticulosity managed.
