A textbook example of excellent dry white in 2023: you get the sumptuousness of ripe Sémillon with nectarine juiciness and the verve and citrus punch, in this case kiwi, from the Sauvignon Blanc. 93 Points! Ripe lemon and citrus fruits, some minty herbs, and chalky minerality all emerge from the 2023 Chardonnay Estate Sta. Rita Hills, a clean, vibrant, focused Chardonnay that has solid acidity, beautiful overall balance and texture, and a great finish. The estate comes all from the Melville Vineyard and was raised in neutral oak, hitting 13% alcohol with a pH of 3.27. - Jeb Dunnuck

92 Points! The 2023 Chablis—sourced chiefly from vineyard parcels that border La Forest—continues to distinguish itself as one of the finest examples in its category. Its bouquet weaves together citrus oils, pear and white peach. The medium- to full-bodied palate is ample and textural, displaying considerable depth and energy that persist through to a long, sapid finish. Composed of mostly Semillon, along with 31% Sauvignon Blanc and a small but fragrant addition of 1% Muscadelle, the 2021 La Proportion Doree comes from 30-year-old, dry-farmed vines and was barrel fermented. It pours a bright yellow color and takes on another gear in the glass, cascading open with generous aromas of fresh currants, candle wax, jasmine, and a lift of white pepper spice. Medium to full-bodied, its structure offers fantastic definition, and it has a concentrated, rich texture, an even spine of acidity, and exceptional length. A cuvée I would never bet against, Vincent Dauvissat’s 2022 Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos is generously structured and leaps from the glass with a bouquet of kaleidoscopic complexity, featuring notes of white peach, beeswax and lemon oil blending with marine flavors. Multidimensional and concentrated, it is supported by racy acidity and concludes with a long, chalky finish. At present, it is more fruit-forward and muscular than Les Preuses but not at the expense of the tension and chalky extract one expects from it. 92 Points! The 2023 Riesling Brandluft is from Muschelkalk soils with sandy elements and has been cultivated by the Boeckel family for at least 120 years. Based on averaging 35-year-old vines planted at high density (6,800 vines per hectare), the wine offers an elegant bouquet of white fruits intermingled with delicate limestone notes. On the palate, this is a full-bodied, intense, juicy, well structured and powerful Riesling that is rich and elegant and already drinks perfectly well. There are fine tannins on the finish, which makes this an excellent gastronomic dry Riesling. 13% stated alcohol. Diam 10 cork. 92 Points! The 2017 Saumur Saint-Cyr-en-Bourg Coulée de St-Cyr exhibits an intense white-golden color along with a deep, fresh and refined bouquet of lemon juice, iodine and limestone along with ripe domestic and even some tropical fruit aromas intertwined with yeasty notes and a lovely oaky and honeyed spiciness that is very well integrated. Full-bodied, pure and persistently salty on the clear and dry palate, this is a dense, tightly structured, refreshing, mineral and straightforward Chenin with very fine tannins and an iodine finish. 96 Points! The beautiful, complex Corton-Charlemagne from Dugat-Py offers ripe pear, quince and passion fruit aromas, coloured with hints of soft white flowers, baking spice and butter. The texture is marvellously balanced; dense, rich and creamy, but not fat. The grapes are from 0.4ha of 55-year-old vines acquired from the estate of Gabriel Muscovac in Pernand (first vintage 2011). Dugat-Py gives the wine a traditional, long maturation in cask without stirring the lees. The vines are well-located for a warm vintage since they climb from mid-slope in Pernand to the top of the hill and have given a superb result in 2023. - Decanter Magazine

95 Points! The NV Extra Brut Les Béguines LC 18 is a wine of immense charm and generosity of spirit. Mingling aromas of walnuts, fenugreek, pear, yellow orchard fruit, licorice, white flowers and buttery pastry with evocations of peach and apricot, it's full-bodied, fleshy and voluptuous, with a broad and textural attack that segues into an ample, enveloping core, concluding with a sapid finish. These were the nicest grapes I've ever seen when assessed simply as fruit," Prévost remarks, contrasting the 2018 crop with the smaller berries and thicker skins of, for instance, 2015 "which were great grapes from which to make wine. - William Kelley, robertparker.com

93 Points! Crafted from old vines of massal selection planting on a south-facing site in Mareuil-sur-A , the NV Brut Premier Cru Mes Favorites Vieilles Vignes offers up an elegant, complex bouquet of white peach, pear, herbs, lemon oil, pastry and tangerine. Fleshier and deeper than its siblings, it's medium to full-bodied, vinous and charming and has a delicate, vinous core of fruit that leads to a long, saline and slightly anise-inflected finish. This blend of 80% Pinot Noir and 20% Chardonnay (based on the 2019 and 2020 vintages in equal parts) was disgorged with a dosage of 5.5 grams per liter. - Yohan Castaing, robertparker.com

93 Points! Crafted from the 2022 vintage and disgorged in August 2024 without dosage, Sergent’s NV Blanc de Blancs Prés de Dieu originates from two northeast-facing parcels: Les Prés in Vrigny and Les Vignes Dieu in Coulommes-la-Montagne, both defined by sandy soils. Vinified in 400- and 500-liter barrels, it wafts from the glass with a bouquet of grapefruit zest, white flowers and crisp green apple. On the palate, it is medium-bodied, tensile and luminous, with a piercing spine of acidity, a youthful and chiseled core and a long, saline finish. 91 Points! Le Creete vineyard is located at the southern end of Lake Garda and planted on the limestone and clay soils that make this region so interesting. As if basking in the sun, the wine opens with aromas of warmed pineapple, guava and lemon with heady white flowers wafting in and out. The palate lifts with tart notes of passion fruit and lemon peel, with a texture that has layers upon layers to explore. Crushed chalky notes define the lengthy and elegant finish. - Wine Enthusiast

Luigi talks about the Campi Flegrei terroir more than the varieties, but they are also doing genetic testing on the Falanghina. Falanghina Beneventana, from around Benevento, to the north-east of Naples is a completely different variety than Falanghina Flegrea from the Campi Flegrei (near Naples). At La Sibilla, they are growing Falanghina Flegrea, and this is a very distinctive example of how delicious Campanian white wines can be.

It delivers a crisp minerally character while also showing appealing aromas and flavors of citrus, flowers, and tarragon. This is an excellent seafood wine. I also drink it as a dry aperitif, with olives and salami, while deciding what to make for dinner.

“The 2025 Aile d'Argent pops from the glass with vivacious notes of Bosc pears, white peaches, and pink grapefruit, giving way to hints of honeysuckle, orange peel, and beeswax with a touch of jasmine tea. Medium-bodied, the palate is satiny-textured and crisp with intense orchard fruit flavors and a long, fragrant finish. The blend is 63% Sauvignon Blanc, 29% Sémillon, 7% Sauvignon Gris, and 1% Muscadelle. It has a pH of 3.13 and the alcohol is 13.6%. It is due to age in French oak barrels for 9 months, 45% new. No malolactic was performed this year.”

“A blend of 63% Sauvignon Blanc, 29% Sémillon, 7% Sauvignon Gris, and a splash of Muscadelle, the 2025 Château Mouton Rothschild Aile D'Argent Blanc offers bright green citrus, crushed stone, minty herb, and savory aromatics, with an incredibly mineral-driven character. On the palate, it's medium-bodied, with bright, racy acidity and a clean finish. This exotic, complex, perfumed white is going to benefit from a few years in the cellar and I suspect have a long drinking window.”

95 Points! This is a old Champagne with an almost earthy profile, offering culatello , candied lemon, a lot of winter apple and restrained viennoiserie. Medium to full-bodied, fleshy and sapid, with delicate structure and an enveloping core of irresistibly succulent fruit, lively acids and a long, saline finish.
