96 Points! The beautiful, complex Corton-Charlemagne from Dugat-Py offers ripe pear, quince and passion fruit aromas, coloured with hints of soft white flowers, baking spice and butter. The texture is marvellously balanced; dense, rich and creamy, but not fat. The grapes are from 0.4ha of 55-year-old vines acquired from the estate of Gabriel Muscovac in Pernand (first vintage 2011). Dugat-Py gives the wine a traditional, long maturation in cask without stirring the lees. This comes from two adjacent villages parcels immediately NNW of the village: Petites Nosroyes and Nosroyes. In size, Gaëlle's parcels are 14 and 9 ares respectively. One hundred ares equals a hectare; in acreage, the total of these two parcels is 0.56 acre. So, essentially a half acre of Chardonnay vines that are around 60 years of age. 95 Points! The 2018 El Cismático was produced with old-vine Garnacha from the villages of Villarroya de la Sierra and Cervera de la Cañada, four small vineyards. It fermented in open-top vats with 20% full clusters and was punched down by hand. They wine matured in second use 500-liter French oak barrels and some concrete for 13 months. As a lot of the reds are completely unoaked, this felt quite oaky and creamy, one that needs a little more time in bottle to absorb the impact from the wood. The wine is floral, expressive, showy and exuberant, peachy and juicy, with very fine tannins, with good acidity and balanced alcohol, harmonious, reflecting a slow and good ripening of the grapes. The grapes for this delicious Zweigelt are sustainably farmed from vineyards located in the dry, hot region Seewinkel region of Neusiedlersee. The soils are also quite dry and gritty full of minerals which are imparted to this refined wine made by Pepi Umathum and Domaine Andau working in tandem at their green, solar and wind powered winery. An incredibly deep red color with a nose of fresh plums and dark berries and hints of black pepper. Lovely weight balanced by acidity and a long juicy finish.
