Vieux Robin Medoc 2005

Today Vieux Robin covers 50 acres of vines, with most of it in one contiguous piece. The vines have an impressive average age of over forty years. Cabernet Sauvignon dominates nearly 60% of the planted area, Merlot comes next with 35%, the rest being shared between Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot.
The 2005 is 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 43% Merlot, 3% Petit Verdot. Château Vieux Robin is located on the famous Medoc peninsula, about 40 miles from Bordeaux. The local wine producing area stretches from west to east along the estuary. It has a great number of soils due to the presence of various outcropping geological layers: gravel and Riss to Wurm coarse sand, limestone-clay and carbonated marl-clay, and hard limestone known as “Begadan’s”.
